1/12 Captain Phasma just revealed at a hobby show in Japan. Not sure how I feel about that cape, but it hardly matters as she should look absolutely AMAZING all chromed out. BB8 and R2 were also on display (hope someone posts more pics) and they're doing an Ep. 7 3PO with his new red arm.

I like the little clear tray that BB8 comes with. My Black series one just tilts over and looks dumb sideways.

BB8's head looks like it's a different position than in previous photos. I'm hoping against hope that they used magnets to make it actually free-moving.

Also, from another forum, looks like the Falcon is compatible with a LED unit to light up the hyperdrive and the ramp. These things keep getting more and more tempting!!!

Love the Falcon on that scale, but wouldn't that be a bugger of a paint job?

Haha, beyond my abilities, anyway. Should look awesome for those capable, though.

And the Fett kits have been released! Hobbysearch posted photos of the runners. The colours and parts separation look absolutely FANTASTIC. For the helmet, the visor AND the red outline around the visor are both separate parts. Can't wait to see what the builds look like (and to get them myself)!

*Edit: Just got my payment request for Boba and Slave 1 from Amiami, so it looks like they're honouring their pre-orders from before the ban. Thank goodness! Should have them in hand in a couple weeks hopefully!

I saw that! He looks AWESOME; so much better than the prototype colours. He's en route now, along with his ride of choice; hope they arrive next week at some point. SOON...

Also, Amiami just put up pre-orders for the BB8 & R2 and First Order Tie kits... and they're temporarily available on their international site!

AmiAmi [Character & Hobby Shop] | Star Wars 1/12 BB-8 & R2-D2 Plastic Model(Pre-order)

Don't know how long it'll last; might be an error, as all the other Star Wars kits are still unavailable. So if you want them, here's your chance! I just pre-ordered BB8 & R2; no way I'm missing out on that one.

It's funny how this whole debacle has just made me want the Bandai kits way more. Before the ban, I only had Vader. Now I want them ALL.

This thread seems to have died, but I just wanted to share some photos of my finished Boba Fett, because he's possibly my favourite kit of all time. He just looks PERFECT, and a tiny bit of paint make him come completely alive. All I added was a bit of silver detailing and scratching on his armor. The colours are all molded except for a couple stickers on his helmet and shoulder.

Best release of the line so far, and now I need MORE.

Wow. Nice job. Better than Black Series, IMHO. Very nice.

Well since Black series is Hasbro...

Having said that, the Black series Boba Fett did come out particularly well. Compared to any of the main characters (Han, Luke, Vader) it looks really great, not that I'm saying the others look bad but Fett just seems better on sculpt and paint.

I agree. Black Series Fett is still one of my favourites.

SWBS has been very strong generally. The attention to detail and quality and respect for the spirit of the original classic designs was bound to turn collector heads. They're such GOOD designs! I wish the Force Awakens figures and designs were as good. Then again, we've only seen a couple waves...

I think it's because so far we've just gotten the main two characters who don't have a lot going on aesthetically, the trooper who is a neat but still familiar future-take (not that it's a bad thing), Kylo Ren who is technically just all black except for his mask (again not a bad thing), and Chewie who is from the original films and thus doesn't count as a new design. Wave 2 has more flair with Captain Phasma but then Poe is just a pilot toy and the other two feel like they're gonna be background characters basically or hardly in the film. I guess I get the feeling like the Guavian and Zuvio would be like getting toys of the Mustafar bug-people and the leader of the Geonosians (though I could be wrong and Zuvio could be hugely important and the Guavians could be in the film a lot).

You've probably nailed it. I'm not interested in shelling out cash for 'extras.' More importantly, I don't want to spend my money for figures that I find ugly, and that's the way I feel about Poe and Rey in particular: it's those doggoned paint apps. Greater care is being taken with upcoming Series 5, judging by the images from SDCC.

Edit: Sorry for hijacking the Bandai model discussion.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to add the scratching, because I didn't have to worry about being messy. He's supposed to look messy. Really happy with how he turned out. Slave 1 might require a bit more work...

And Hobbysearch has put up pictures of the runners for the first Force Awakens kits (Falcon & X-Wing). The parts separation for the Falcon looks REALLY impressive. Expert modelers (ie. not me) should be able to turn this kit into a masterpiece.

Photo reviews of the new X-Wing & Falcon are up. Straight-out-of-box builds; no paint or stickers.

Sorry to resurrect a dying thread yet again, but... BB8 rolls!!!!!!

?1/12 BB-8 & R2-D2????? ?????? STAR WARS?PLASTIC MODEL

I still don't know how; did they actually use magnets? Or maybe the head's not actually connected and it just rests on top. But still. Just so cool. Really looking forward to this set.
