I'm a little disappointed by this news but only for the regular Batman. I kind of feel like it's a matter of time before another company like DC Collectibles or Mezco does a classic Batman figure similar to this.

They've sold the Con exclusives in their online store the past couple of years.

I used to see their exclusives at TRU and Hastings too but I think they stopped selling them at retail the year they did the Arcade TMNT figures. Plus, Hastings has closed.

Don't know but, I guess its always possible that they're going to do it as one big boxed set with all 6 figures.

I'm not sure if I should laugh given I'm pissed off at NECA for the treatment of their Godzilla line or feel bad for them that they were going all out on that Batman/Alien set only for DC's childish nature to cockblock them despite the fact that they had to have paid for the license beforehand and spent all of that time and money on it.

Well this sucks. I mostly just wanted the Predator armor Batman but I can make do with the DC Collectibles Armored Batfleck :P

This is a bummer but I bet in time we may see these to be easier to get. I don't believe NECA would go through all that effort to simply be stopped and give up because of licensing. I would believe we see these in the future just not likely the near future.

I can't say I am disappointed because I never fully believed we would get them.

Well, I’m thinking even thought they may have to distribute them through cons, that doesn’t mean they have to produce them in smaller numbers like some exclusives. So if they ever do go to the NECA site, and Ebay in massive numbers they may not be that hard to get? Wishful thinking I’m sure, but it’s hope...

Was it actually DC tho? I feel like it might've been because the Fox properties were going up for sale and that might've put a hold on things.

They already paid for the license though. Plus, Jay C said that NECA told them they were having some issues with DC.

NECA should do what Diamond Select did: Playmates holds the master license for TMNT toys, so in order to make Ninja Turtle minimates they packaged them with a string and a keyring around their neck and sold them as "keychains", though you could easily pop the string off and have nomal Minimates If that's what it takes to get these toys!!!

That would be awesome^ I can picture those packs with little strings loosely tied around there wrists, and a sticker that says “keychains” on the package

Interesting. I thought contracts and agreements lock everything in place beforehand so I wonder what exactly happened with DC.

Anyway, its good to see Neca taking a proactive approach with the situation and releasing them as con exclusives this year-which only makes them a year behind when they were supposed to be released anyway.

Could be a number of factors involved. You're not only dealing with DC and WB, but also Mattel here. With them owning the master toy rights, they have a lot of say in what can and can't be released at retail. If Mattel, WB or DC feel these figures compete with current 6" offerings, they can nix them being released at mass retail.

Similar thing happened with their TMNT and Playmates. Though, they seemed to expect that outcome a early on.

Yeah, so many companies in the mix, not having complications would have been nothing short of a miracle.

I really don't see why Mattel couldn't be just a little more generous with permitting other companies to develop DC figures. Adult collector toys really aren't their forte, and I don't see how NECA releasing 7" DC figures to retail would hurt their business at all.

But they are trying to produce figures for collectors like the JWS Flash and the Kilmer Batman. If you ran Mattel, would you honestly want to go up against and lose to a small company like Neca?

Well ain’t that a b*tch. I’ve been looking forward to those sets for over a year now. Like someone else said, I guess secretly I knew it would never happen. Ah well. Go blow some coin on something else.

They should contract NECA to sculpt their collector figures since the Kilmer and Shipp figures look gawd-awful

If I ran Mattel, I'd like to think I'd put out more quality and effort into the adult collector figures in the first place, at the very least, I'd try to match Hasbro's efforts. And I certainly wouldn't see any problem in giving other companies permission to produce their own DC figures occasionally.

Here's the Batman I was waiting for... fingers crossed they do a on-line ordering option like the SDCC sets... and that I can get in there and grab one!

That's one of the best Batman figures I've ever seen. It's awesome.

The Joker Alien, however, is really dumb.

This is an easy pass for me since I'm going to get the Mafex Hush Batman, but I really look forward to people taking some great pics with this figure, cuz it's really cool looking.
