So I'm reading Schism, and I'm not quite sure if I like how they made the villains in it to be a bunch of spoiled rich kids. I like how they put tension between Wolverine and Cyclops for sure, but the villains not feeling them at all. What about you guys?

The notion is this- a bunch of spoiled pre-teen children somfuckinghow take over the hellfire club, set the X-Men running all over the world fighting Sentinels nad eventually send one big Sentinel to wipe out Utopia.

So yeah, Marvel has gone from Magneto to Nimrod Sinister to Apoclypse and now the greatest threat to the X-Men is five pre-pubscent rich kids?
Not getting a penny of my money.

Hope's bunch of losers are there and Cyclops wants them to help him fight the Sentinel and Wolverine wants to run to keep the kids safe.
Cyclops and Wolvie fight right there- Cyclops taking the "this is war- kids are soldiers too" track nad Logan takes the "children need to be tucked into bed and coddled" line of completely out of character reasoning.

I mean, it's opposite of EVERYTHING Logan has ever EVER done or said. Logan took Kitty and Jubilee nad Armor and made them badass fighters but now he's concerned about Hope's gang of semi-retarded teens?

Not exactly in keeping with the guy okay with capping the child Apoclypse and running a secret kill squad.

Thanks for that delightful read. Guess I can pass and just get a synopsis on the series later.

Yeah. Really, it's just an excuse to split the teams and reduce the crushing number of characters on that damn island.
There were so many powerful mutants on Utopia that nothing short of a dozen Nimrods could have been a threat, which paints the writers into a corner.
This partly solves the problem.

Ha ha yup what Jason said sums it up. Good points too. Well at least they brought back Sinister, but in a stupid way actually by looking at Regensis. Not even a real challenge IMO.
But yes a bunch of snot nosed kids as the villain didn't quite give me a challenge. What was really stupid about Schism is how they had Wolvy set up explosives on Utopia threatening to bomb the whole place if Cyke didn't let the kids go.

I think that's why they're making Wolvy look more like Professor X and Cyke as Magneto Villain. Give it an X-Men twist.

It's weird how they had Wolvie plant those explosives- I guess they forgot that Namor set up all those refugee Atlanteans right under Utopia and they'd all get killed if the flippin' island sank on top of them.

Still, it must have been movie night or something, as they did not pitch in and help.

You're missing a LOT...it's just that it's mostly a lot of crap.

Like how they forgot Madison Jeffries is a bigger ass kicker than half the X-Men combined when he makes the Box Armor.
Or how he could have aced a Nimrod just by getting close to it.
http://www.uncannyxmen.net/images/sp.../madison07.jpg

Or how he was a member of alpha Flight for years- why is he not helping them out?!?

Buh.

I want a toy of the Box Armor, damnit!

Didn't know Madison Jeffries was in Alpha, that's cool. Agreed couldn't him, Cypher and Warlock take out the Sentinels?

Schism was a bit of a failure in 2011, but the prior years weren't as bad. Well Necrosha, Second Coming and The Messiah was pretty awesome IMO. Although probably because X-Force was in it:P

Hell yes i WOULD definitely buy that Box armor (first thing id do is custom up an AoA version!! Remember him storming the beaches during the great airlift??) And id want Puck too!!

But back on topic i get the impression that no-one at marvel keeps tabs on whats going on in the X-verse, they go backwards and forwards, they rehash this rehash that,in the old days a thread was left hanging for years then woven back in seamlessly. Its a crying shame they just dont seem to care.........

Frigging Jason always beats me to the punch with comic related threads but fortunately his synopsis are pretty damn accurate.

My two cents: I have personally enjoyed everything in recent X-men runs from messiah complex to 2nd coming. Everything post 2 coming has been atrocious and schism, dare I say, is the worst writing I have ever encountered in an x-men story...ever.

It was absolutely a poor excuse to split up the team and create the worst excuse for villains imaginable. REALLY, 12 yr old kids have managed to succeed where the most powerful characters the marvel universe has to offer have all failed in the past and even managed to kill every member of the hellfire club at the same time?

Slap yourselves, Marvel. That choice of villainy was pretty insulting as a long time reader.

.
My friend, avoid at the cost of your very sanity the storyline where Angel and nightcrawler turn out to be decended from extradimensional races that insipred Judeo-Christian beliefs...
Oh, and Angel's blood cures AIDS....and everyone knows mutants cant contract HIV.

Really. I wish I made that shit up.

By comparison, anythng recent, even with Greg Land's tracing, is gold.

I do now thanks to Toyark. Still don't mind his drawing though, at least more readable than Chris Bacchalo.
