The Extremis Armor raised the bar for Iron Man armor figures in my opinion. Previously in Marvel Universe, the best armor before this was the classic armor from wave 3. However, that figure was mainly praised for having better articulation than the wave 1 Iron Man. The figure was scrawny however, and does not look as good as the Classic Iron Man from the Iron Man 2 Comic Series. This is a case of Hasbro outdoing themselves.

The arrival of the Extremis Armor gave us an Iron Man with preferable thigh swivels, great metallic paint job(especially compared to the Iron Man 2 line), and a modernized armor. However, recently the Bleeding Edge armor was released, and this figure bears Tony's latest armor.

Question is, which armor is better, Extremis or Bleeding Edge? I have yet to see the latter in person, but recent images I've seen look good. Definitely will pick it up. Thoughts?

Ironically enough I got both modern armors from Toys R Us at different time periods but for the same reason: he was the only guy on the peg.

That fun little factoid aside, the Extremis armor truly surprised me with the sheer amount of articulation Hasbro managed to get into this tiny little guy. He had all sortsa joints and they all worked perfectly except the ankles which were hindered a bit by the armor design itself.

The Extremis was my main armor for a while, until I found the Bleeding Edge armor by pure luck. And I was in for another surprise with this one too. It is a massive improvement over the Extremis, much like how it is in the comic. Life imitates art in a freaky way. The BEA is slimmer giving Tony Spider-Man-esque poseability. The rocker ankles and the cut thighs can give you some really deep poses and the paint job really is a reflection of the comic book coloring.

Overall, I still love the Extremis, but the Bleeding Edge beats it out by a slim margin in my book.

ROCKER ankles? Holy shit! I had no idea, so THAT's what people were talking about with regards to new ankle articulation!

The Bleeding Edge armor is the first MU Iron Man with which I've been completely happy. The Extremis armor (and the series 1 armor and Iron Patriot) seemed to skinny at the joints. I couldn't put it next to Captain America or Thor and feel like there was a person inside. Some of the Iron Man 2 figures are near flawless, but if Bleeding Edge was the only Iron Man figure I could have ever, I could live with it.

Going solely by pics and a few reviews I've read, I'm going to go with BE. Of course, once I have both in-hand, that could change.

But I doubt it.

Have to agree with everyone else here; the Bleeding Edge is superior. Hasbro is doing a great job with working out the kinks in the line and incorporating outstanding articulation.

Yeah, Shin! ROCKER ankles. This thing has pretty much ML styled articulation.

We think that it means that his ankles can rock back and forth like a rocker
like his ankles maybe

It's pretty much like that, Symbiote. They only go out at an angle on the BEAIM though.

I'll try to snap some pics later on today.

I stumbled upon Bleeding Edge today and picked it up. I like it better than the Extremis. The paint job is great, but I would have preferred the gloss finish like on the Extremis.

Also the ankles function like rocker ankles but aren't exactly rocker ankles. They are a hinge combined with a foot swivel at an angle! Does this work better than rocker ankles and ball jointed ankles?

YES!

The ball ankles are common on Hasbro Marvel figures, meanwhile rockers were common on Toy Biz Marvel Legends. The latter was sometimes prone to looseness and the sculpt would be "broken". The former had a better silhouette but lacked the range of motion of the latter.

The new ankle joints on Bleeding Edge Iron Man function more like rocker ankles but are different. These joints are excellent and this Iron Man is the most articulated Marvel Universe figure due to them. I like this figure a great deal and have been blown away. I hope these joints are fitted to most of the 2011 figures and onwards.

Pretty innovative Hasbro, I approve.

*BTW can Bleeding Edge Iron Man move his torso left and right, or just forward and back?*

At first I thought the BE was meh when I saw pics on the internet but seeing it in person and after buying it it is probably my favorite MU figure I have right now.

I had a feeling you'd love him, Shin!

I was thinking rocker at first but when I really thought about it for a while they are more like the ankles on Figmas.

And I think the torso is only forward and back. I'll mess with mine a bit to see.

I gotta go with BE too. He's just too much awesome in one figure. Hasbro seriously just keeps outdoing themselves. It's like they just got he magic touch that turns everything to gold.

IF the true Modular Armor is made in the Marvel Universe(instead of Iron Man 2 Comic Series) line, I think we are in for a treat! I didn't think we'd see the Extremis outdone this quick!

Yeah, it makes me excited for Modular, and for DarkHawk. Heck even X-23 since she was going to be the first usage of the new female body.

Bleeding edge, Extremis sucked for 1 reason, the hips. everything else was decent and could have been a great figure.

The only thing I find better on the Extremis Armor is the neck articulation. Unfortunately the BE Armor can't quite get that flying pose right, ah well.
