Amazon.com: Buying Choices: DC Universe Kid Flash Figure

They have got to be on something because who's gonna pay $700 for one action figure????

Great question, is he that rare & what's so special about him? $70 would be too much.

not particularly if you look at one posted on Ebay it's going for like $40 heck the price these people want are higher then the LOSH 12 pack.

ive said this to myself on many occasions that Amazon is not the place to buy toys. Anything else(movies, music, games, etc) but not toys. The sellers there take advantage of customers who dont understand or are too hesitant to use ebay. The prices there are exorbitant in many cases and are sold at the same rate or greater than what online toy stores charge.

That's hilarious. I saw Wally on clearance for less than retail on a few occasions. I wasn't into the line, so I left it.

Amazon isn't so bad, if you know what you're looking for and what it's actually worth. If you're going into it blind or looking for something different/new to get into, I agree with Bmorr.

For example, I was able to pick up the TRU Shinken Red Figuart from Amazon for $25 and he's totally worth that price. Same day I picked up the not-Ravage USB drive for $10.

I got some figures cheap from Amazon. But really, DCUC comes with a lot of baggage.

While I agree on part of that EBay is not much better Unless it says buy it now you could pay more then what the figure is worth. I shop on Amazon over Ebay simply because Every figure I bought has been worth what I paid e.g. I just got Booster Gold wave 7 figures I've bought off Ebay I had to go to the post office twice because they came from Hong Kong. Once the figures mid section twist is very loose which is why I lean toward New In Box heck I got The Wonder Twins for a good price off Amazon

Two points:

1. Some sellers set a crazy high price in lieu of closing the shop or removing listings when they go on vacation.

2. The fee structure makes it ridiculously hard to make a buck if you're a small, but non-scalping, seller.

First, Amazon charges a flat fee on all sales.
Second, Amazon charges a higher commission percentage than eBay.
Third, Amazon sets a flat rate for shipping that's too low to cover costs in the best of circumstances, forcing you to build a buffer into your price where they charge the higher commission.
Fourth, Amazon charges fees on shipping that hit the first, and often only, pound hardest.

It's not at all uncommon, in the sub-$20 price range, to be hit with 25% in fees versus about 13% between eBay and Paypal. If you're going through a distributor, versus Hasbro/Mattel directly (because you're too small to make their minimum orders), that can easily outstrip your margins. There's no point in selling anything for a loss...but sometimes you find the numbers don't work out after you've ordered something and it's sat for awhile, so you count on old/rare/hot stuff to make up the difference.

It's no excuse for a $700 DCUC toy but it does explain why I don't really care to buy or sell on Amazon these days.

Ebay charges for photos and if I am correct a posting fee. I actually have had a seller on EBay after I bid pull the Item and relist it for twice it's initial then send me a message about relisting at the higher price expecting me to bid. I've only had three issues on Amazon 1) The seller didn't pull the Item when it was sold in store. 2) I was sent the wrong Negative Man. 3) Booster Gold was mislisted. The Booster Gold and Item sold I was informed of the error though when I did leave a feedback I did mention the issue with Booster because it was honest and I wasn't going to lie

That is damn near the price of 2 Hot Toys; or one. That is the only 'toy' I would invest *that much* money into, even then I'd be a bit more ambivalent rather than just forking out $700 off the whim. In regards to Amazon, I have had some good deals in there. In fact, for a while that was my main source of collecting. Ebay and Amazon have both served me justice, though occasionally I will run across that kind of ridiculous price point for a toy and I would cringe and ask the same question: "What the heck are they smoking?"

Yeh that is stupid pricing, either mistake made by someone listing the item, or they are doing it for a what the hell type scenario, when some idiot actually does buy it. Hot toys figures, limited edition statues, 1/1 scale items and movie props command and deserve this kind of $$, not regular retail items. I could buy a lot of rare and awesome figures to fill my collection gaps.

I think all secondary market sellers are idiots, and a big part of what's wrong with the world of toy collecting - Or any collectible for that matter. I hate when people list a current toy for three times the shelf price and then put something like, "Hard to Find" in the title. I feel like telling these people, "Jerkface, it wouldn't be hard to find if the people buying it strictly to sell it would leave it on the shelf for the people actually looking for it!" F'n scalpers....RAAAAAAGGGGGEEEE!

or when they list something as rare with a high price while 20 other listings have it for near retail. If you deal with a lot of merchandise then I guess it's easy to not put much effort into deciding values. The local specialty toy shop is like that. Guy prices common things so high it's laughable and they never sell. After a fee years I guess they do become rare lol.

There are a couple stores around here like that too. I hate scalpers in general, but if you're gonna do it, have a freakin' clue what it's worth to someone else.

I once saw an extremely common TMNT figure on Amazon, loose, for over $1000 (might've even been $1999, I don't recall). Boggled my mind.
