here we go - way back in 1968 or '69, right around the same time as the Hot Wheels/Johnny Lightning craze a toy came out that had us elementary kids growing up in Los Angeles going crazy ape s**t bananas over it.

here's the janky part - i can't quite remember what the hell it was!!! i do remember that kids were fighting over it - ditching school (lol 3rd grade) to go over friends houses' to trade for more and make crazy deals. i can say that it came in different colors, was plastic and was maybe about 3 - 4 inches long. i want to say it was maybe some kind of a small launch type rocket thingy??? its driving me insane to remember it for some reason - but ALL the kids had to have them at all costs and the more you owned the cooler you were. it may have had a moving part or two. ugghh... i wish i could remember what that toy was.

anyway i'm sure my descriptions were of absolutely no help at all lol.

this site is awesome - i'll be sure to hang out more often and contribute!

Thanks everyone in advance,

You are a little older than me, but that sounds like it might either be the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle or the Six Million Dollar Man Dual Launch Drag Set. Not sure, I need more info.

Upon rethinking, your comments about trading made me think of Kenner's Smash Up Derby and SSP Ripcord Racers. That was in the early 70's a bit before my toy emergence, but they were still available by the time I was in the market:
