Awesome cult classics article! Excellent interview as well.

A couple questions...

Any chance of Michael Myers in mego style or ultimate lines?

Any chance of horror 18" figures,we need them updated with the articulation.

Any more 18" pacific rim planned?

Also as for other features, what about mcfarlane, showing were this all started wth movie maniacs and Clive barker and even the monsters series. Even side show universal monsters figures from years ago would be fun. Just some thoughts.

Thanks again for this, this week has been like toy fair.

Those questions you've asked have actually been answered by Randy on Twitter. Many are ones he sees on a daily basis (and pop up in my feed, hehe).

They can't get the license for Halloween. Been trying for years.

More 18" horror figures have been hinted at. No solid details.

No more 18" Pacific Rim likely. They sell less and less with every release. Last waves have barely moved.

As for other features, I don't know. I really have to be into something to write extensively about it. I don't want to write just to write an article. I personally despise that entire era of McFarlane toys. Didn't like them then, and even less so now. So my heart wouldn't be into that. Old Sideshow is a blind spot for me.

With this week, it was a perfect storm. I'm heavily into current NECA stuff, been going back and buying older stuff I missed, so I had passion, base knowledge and full cooperation from Randy.

I get not having your heart in it. To me Neca is here because mcfarlane trail blazed sculpting for the day, collectors demeaned more from figures,as seen with the legends of dark knight line from Kenner around that time. Now,Neca has perfected the sculpts and added super articulation. I will never forget that toy fair cover in 98 showing Jason. Any way just me.

The Twitter thing....I don't get it...i see Randy's answers but never see the questions. I find that beyond confusing and just leave that site. Halloween is weird, they had once before. I wonder what changed....perhaps different studio now maybe....thought I read something about the movies...any.

Still, great week on this site, great reporting and great pics.

I agree, this was a very cool showing of figs that can be a challenge to pose. Nice work!

I always though the Xenos & Preds were the least challenging to pose. Xenos have tails I can use to balance, and Preds (usually) have giant feet. I have more a tough time with any figure who has tiny feet and nothing to help balance since I use a cloth backdrop.

@Joe Moore

That makes sense. I use articulation to balance figures in various postures. NECA does such a good job at hiding their joints and articulation that I assumed (incorrectly, I guess) that they were tough.

Awesome gallery. The concept big chap is my favorite of the 3. The AvP aliens look ok, might pick up the regular one, grid doesn't interest me.

I like how they changed Grid to keep the end of its tail like how they made the predators thinner than those tanks in the movie. I don't like AVP as a film but those aliens are so damn cool looking (except for the neck from the side but that's Paul W.S. Anderson's fault not NECA's) that I might have to get one.

Dang...I wish NECA would have pushed harder with that second Rambo figure. I never once saw him in retail, the secondary market for him is ridiculous, and I don't think we'll be getting the final Rambo with the bow, as well as any future ones (I would have loved to have had a reboot version of him) due to Randy's comments about Rambo not doing well at retail. As a long time collector, NECA, I want to give you my wallet, I really do, but if you want stuff to sell better, give us more venues to pick it up other than online retailers.

FYE, Toys R Us & Hastings are the three main brick n mortar stores carrying NECA stuff. Walmart is carrying some here and there. And if you have a local comic shop, that's probably 3rd best option.

If I don't get mine online I get them from either Hastings or Toys R Us. My only LCS jumps the price too much to justify going to them for NECA. It's weird then because they charge base msrp for stuff from DCC like the animated Batman figures but then regular NECA figures are at least $25 and for some reason some of them are pushed to $30 even though they'd all be $20 at retail. So like when the wave with the Dog Alien and Bishop came out my LCS wanted $25 for Bishop and then $30 for the Alien when they were both the same price at TRU or Hastings. Maybe it's because the LCS gets DCC stuff straight from DC or something but has to go through another vendor to get NECA stuff. Either way it doesn't bother me too much since barely anything from NECA is actually rare when it's new so I've never had to turn to the LCS for anything anyway.

I guess depends on where they get the NECA stuff. If they go through Diamond, it's potentially more expensive than a direct account, but allows them to order just what they want as opposed to buying bulk to get wholesale prices.

And that there is the problem...in Tucson, we have no FYE or Hastings, and only two TRUs, both of which carry very different products, as one of them shares half the store with a Babies R' Us, with that location carrying nearly no NECA products what-so-ever (I wonder if it's because of the mature nature of many of their products, due to the fact that there is a Babies R Us in the same store?) If Walmart carries them, they only tend to be at only the Super Walmarts, which we also are lacking and very spread out. There is only two or three comic shops here, most of them with focusing on table top gaming, carrying no figures what-so-ever. I wish Target, and Walgreens would carry some stuff (outside their Terminator Endos...) That series 2 Rambo: FBII figure never even made it to either of our TRUs.

Are there any Movie Stops in your area? The one near me changed to over half toys and has a lot of Neca, DC Collectibles, Marvel Select, and even has some Mafex and play arts kai in a locked cabinet. It seemed like a market wide change or something they're trying with their slower stores. Might be worth a checking.

Movie Stops is a subsidiary of GoHastings...making them, in principle, Hastings stores...which unfortunately, the nearest one is some 120 miles away in neighboring Sierra Vista...

Thanks. Was mentally exhausted by Friday. Hehe. Haven't written so many story based articles in a long time. But it was a lot of fun. If the opportunity presents itself to do something liek this again, I gladly will. Just give me a few months.
