Probably should have posted this here, instead of the "cool photos" thread.

Just finished painting Marvel's handful of heroes. This is my first custom. I used the walmart acrylic paint so if you touch the figures the paint starts to wear and chip. Is there a way to seal these?

How'd I do? Suggestions? Tips?

Thanks guys! I just found out that maybe the more rubbery-like plastic doesn't hold the paint well because it's more flexable. At least that makes me feel better than having skimped on the cost of paint.

I'm working on Thor, Spidey, Doc Ock and Green Gobby now.

PS Bottle cap stands!

This, they make spray varnishes that are good for modeling and everything. They can make them look shiny or clowdy if you use too much though. Primering might help the paint stay on too.

They look great.

Ahh... I'll pick up some clear spray coating stuff next time I go to walmart. And primer. I've got two Thors, I'll experiment with one. Thanks guys!

I dig those. Great job!!!
You can get those conserve-it spray matte sealants. I used those on my customs and they do a great job of sealing. Word of warning, shake well and spray from a distance or they get sticky *that's what she said?*

What you need is Colorbond spray paint for the primer coat- it bonds to anything plastic, vinyl or rubbery and holds paint great.
Then paint your figs- and those look AWESOME- and seal them with Workable Fixative- get the dull kind.
Colorbond is available only through their wensite but the fixative can be had at any art store.

Really great job with these- I primered a Nick Fury for my roomate but never got around to painting him up- now maybe I'll do it!

Got the workable fixatif. Sprayed up Colossus, Hulk and Onslaught. They turned out great and it's not too shiny. Thanks for that! Didn't find any primer local though. :\

Here's the newly finished batch:

Part of it is that that walmart acrylic paint isn't designed for painting models, plastic, or anything like that. you can get way with it if you use enough sealant as mentioned, but what you really need is some model paint.

These are fantastic buy the way

New batch! Man, Captain America's shield was a pain in the arse to paint. It came out rather sloppy looking up close.
The Thing and Rulk were the most fun! Did some shading on the Rulk, but it didn't come out in the picture. I had two The Things and painted them both. Gonna put one up for trade...
Boba, yeah I used to use testers on model planes. It never failed me. I might pick up a few bottles of the primary colors.

New Batch Here! I'm real happy with these. Lots of Hulks! Professor Hulk! Maestro. WW Hulk (blood spatter on the axe was my dad's idea). Silver Surfer (easiest repaint ever!). Dr. Doom (did some dirty, grime shading on his metal joints.)

I didn't do a deep green on Maestro and only did two coats so that his skin looks a little older and not so perfect.

New stuff!!

Two Sabretooth's. These guys turned out great. I'm really happy with them. I actually did three, and I'm keeping one. One has been traded, but one is still up for grabs.

Two more Venom's, these have a lot less blue-ing. One has been traded, but one is still up for grabs.

A new Thor. Since I wasn't happy with the other one, I did two more. Dang packages are loaded with these guys. Anyway, I feel these came out better. This guy is up for trade.

I had an extra Brown Costume Wolverine unpainted, so I made him into the X Force Wolvie!

Matching colors.

War Machine and Iron Man Mark 1 are up for trade. The other two are gone.

Got one Venom and One Sabretooth left for trade.

These are still available:
War Machine
Mark I Iron Man
World War Hulk
Hulk (bent bar)
Colossus
Onslaught
Professor Hulk (2)
Black Panther
Brown Costume Wolverine (the one in my first post. the one shown with sabretooth is traded)
Doc Ock
Green Goblin
Dr. Doom
Spider-man
The Thing
Maestro Hulk
Venom
Sabretooth
Thor

Here's what I'm looking for of HoH wave 1 and 2 (will take duplicates if you wanna get rid of them):
wave 1:
cyclops
beast
nick fury
hawkeye
angel
deadpool
magneto
colossus lifting rubble
abomination
rhino
Armageddon
juggernaut
hulkbuster
gladiator hulk
Classic Hulk
Red Hulk

Wave 2
Captain America
Hulk As War
Punisher

Hulkbuster Iron Man (got this thanks to Owlman!)

Armageddon. (again, thanks Owlman!) I wasn't sure about his skin tone. I've seen it light purple and light pinkish. I went purple with him.

Nightcrawler and Ultimate Nightcrawler, backs.

Ultimate Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler. I painted the costume right over the belt, hoping the belt wouldn't be as noticeable. Also painted outside the lines to match the costume better.

Anybody got a HoH Angel and Beast? Pleaaaaase! Pretty pweeeease?

I had to strip and repaint Abom 3 times! I just could not get him right! I finally got something similar to the marvel select/legends figure, and what I had pictured in my noggin. He was the most difficult out of the three to do, just cos I wasn't quite sure how to go about getting the results I wanted.

Bi-Beast. Just like Abom, dirty toenails.I don't know why Bi-beast came out looking so orange in the photo. He's really not.

Nick Fury.

Cyclops. I'm really happy with this one. Did a light blue on his uniform, then washed him with thinned out dark blue, and it shaded him nice. The best thing about Cyclops was that I didn't have to paint eyeballs. lol

Thanks OptimusV, and Prem1x!

Here's a few more.
Magneto and Jug. Did something different with this batch. Painted a darker color first, and then dry brushed a lighter color over the top of that for some shading effects. Unfortunately, I lost Juggy's pinstripes aroundhis midsection. I ain't about to try and handpaint a guess where they went. lol Also did a bit of metalic brown on Jug's helmet and armbands to give it a metal look.

Rhino. Should I do eyebrows on him, or leave them off? The only reason I left them off is cos on the statues you don't see them, but that's cos the mask comes down so far it covers them. This doesn't look to be the case here.

In case anybody is interested in getting one of these, I have still available for trade or purchase: ($4 each)
War Machine
World War Hulk
Hulk (bent bar)
Colossus
Onslaught
Professor Hulk (2)
Black Panther
Doc Ock
Green Goblin
Spider-man
The Thing
Maestro Hulk
Venom
Sabretooth
Thor
Nightcrawler (either uniform. I have one unpainted I can do him up in either costume)

Here's what I'm looking for of HoH wave 1 and 2 (will take duplicates if you wanna get rid of them):
wave 1:
cyclops
beast
nick fury
hawkeye
angel
deadpool
colossus lifting rubble

juggernaut
hulkbuster
gladiator hulk
Classic Hulk
Red Hulk

Wave 2
Captain America
Hulk As War

I'da posted this sooner but my internet has been down.

My first diorama. Did a snow scene with Wolvie and Sabretooth. Looks a lot better in person, IMO. Real rocks and wood, bleached, baked, glued with locktite, painted and sealed. I'd be willing to sell it with, or without both figures. The figures are not glued on. They are loose.

This was a heck of a lot of fun to do. I really enjoyed putting this together and painting it up.

I'm thinking about doing one with the x-men gang in mind. A battlefield. I've got a MU Apocolypse that I may be able to convert some parts into a dismantled Sentinel... if I can bring myself to drestroy the figure. I have real problem with taking him apart. lol

Here's a Maestro Hulk Mini-diorama I just did. If I can get my hands on a Bulls-eye knife, or Deadpool sword, a another gun, and Dr. Doom's mask, I'll add them to it.

So far the trophies are:
Iron Man's mask.
Captain America's shield.
Thor's helmet and hammer.
Spider-man's mask.
Punisher's gun.
Doc Ock's mech-arms.
