Edit: Sorry, off topic there. To get back onto it, I know that the Diamond catalog offers the full wave for $96, but that my LCS gets a discount based on their order volume, which potentially puts them around $11 a figure. They randomly price the figure based on how cool they think it is, or if they do a completed listings search on evilBay. I'm trying to get them to kick that habit, but it's slow going.
That's dumb that your LCS does that. Do they tend to have a lot of the over priced ones in stock?

My LCS does $10 for normal, $12 for other stuff (X-23 and Thanos specifically), and then $20+ for the rare variants.

Last figure I picked up at retail was the non variant absorbing man for $7.96 at my Wal-Mart.

and Doomtron, tax is so variable depending on the city it can really skew the overall price given we're looking for actual prices vs msrp.

9.99 to 12.99. The Local Comic Shops here cost way more than the retail. It's usually more like $14 to $17.

Around here the cheapest price I can find for single-carded Marvel Universe is $7.96 at Wal-Mart. Target sells them for 3 cents higher at $7.99 followed by TRU at $8.49.

Edited to add: Comic 2 packs are $14.99 across the board. Boxsets like X-Force or Fantastic Four are $19.99.

They have to tread a fine line. They up the price too much on those hard to find figures, and then they get repacked in a new assortment, that comic shop will sit on them forever. You can always tell that kind of comic shop, the ones where you walk in and see Toy Biz stuff from the 90's still trying to be sold at $15 a pop.

Wow I was just at Target & the price of MU went down 10 cents.
They are now $7.89. Same with G.I. Joe figures too. This isn't a "price cut" it's a real markdown!

There are no licensing costs for Hasbro to make GI Joe since they own the property. That's why Joes are cheaper than Marvel. Star Wars sometimes is cheaper due to the sheer volume of figures more that are sold can bring the price down compared to the relatively smaller numbers sold for Joe.

Nope, just the opposite. Hardly anything in stock because they bought so little over the past two years...
