I have no idea where they're going with this, but I can't wait to find out. I guess the "rise" is Batman coming out of seclusion (movie plot takes place 8 years after The Dark Knight), but I guess it could also be him rising from a serious beating that puts him out of commission for a period of time. The trailer says it's the end, the movie poster shows what looks like the end,.. would they really end the movie on a villain defeating the hero? Will they end it with a tease of who will be stepping into the shoes as the new Batman?

I heard that Rises was an amalgam of Knightfall and the Dark Knight Returns.

I had to watch the trail with the sound off, but did I see JGL?

My thought is that maybe they left the end of the movie open to spin off into a successor to Batman type of movie, possibly Batman Beyond.

im hoping that the cane scene is an older bruce wayne, like the batman beyond idea that classified had. its actually the end of the movie where bruce is 80 and it ends with his replacement, the rise of a new dark knight. and is a faceslap seque into a new trilogy.

I wouldn't get too carried away about the scene with the cane, because I doubt they'll "break Batman" unless it happens early on in the flick and he somehow recovers in time to whoop Bane's ass. I also doubt that they'll set anything up for future films or a Batman Beyond type character because it would have nothing to do with his vision of the caped crusader. If case you guys didn't see the 6 min. prologue, it is of men boarding a jet as captives of special agents, and one of the captives ends up being Bane. It was staged that way so that Bane's people could find out what information was leaked about their activities/plans. I thought it was epic.

This makes the most sense, as bmorr alluded too. This is what happened in Knightfall.
