Just heard that former Hasbro Lead Designer DAVID VONNER the man who made Marvel Legends and MU figures - will be onhand for the 3rd Annual Connecticut ComiCONN on August 18th, 2012 at the Trumbull Marriott. They have a cuistom action figure contest every year -- and he's one of the judges...

Great line-up of creators too - including writer Peter David, Joe Kelly - Artists Billy Tucci, Chris Giarrusso from Mini Marvels, Mike Lilly, and more names -- This is a huge show -- last year they had 1500 attendees during Hurricane Irene with the Metro North trains and highways closing down and the show rocked!!!! Tons of Toys! Plus they had a working life-size Star Wars landspeeder - R2 and tons of folks in costumes! MU figs at cool prices...

It's really laid back - you can talk to creators, and there's no pushing and inflated costs like the big city shows in Boston or NYC... you should really check it out! ComiCONN Comic Book and SciFi Convention is the website and they keep posting updates on Facebook

ATTENTION ACTION FIGURE COLLECTORS! ComiCONN is pleased to have two of the driving forces behind some of the coolest action figures ever made - David Vonner and Scott George - now of Kasual Friday but also were Hasbro's Senior Design Manager and Global Brand Manager of the Marvel Universe, Legends and Avengers line of action figures! They will be onhand talking about the rich history of the Marvel line, what goes into making the action figures you love to collect and will be reviewing customizer's work! So if you design your own action figures, bring them to the show and get some pointers form the Professionals!
----------------
More About David Vonner and Scoot George: David A. Vonner II is a toy designer and Director of Design for Kasual Friday, LLC. At the new Kasual Friday, which David started with long time toy marketing partner, Scott George, David leads the design and development of pop culture product based on classic properties including Rocky, Robocop, Flash Gordon, The Phantom, & Army of Darkness. Kasual Friday makes its convention debut at the 2012 Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con.

Prior to Kasual Friday, David was a Senior Design Manager at Hasbro, Inc. At Hasbro, David was on the Marvel Team, and oversaw design and development of licensed Marvel's characters based on feature film entertainment, animation and comic books. Along with movie lines such as The Avengers, Iron Man, Iron Man 2 & Thor, David was also a founding member and driving force behind the Marvel Universe line from 2008 - 2012. Since its inception, the Marvel Universe toy line has become a collector and fan favorite action figure line, offering a notoriously deep character selection from Marvel's extensive catalogue. Under David’s watch, the line also amassed a list of sought after exclusives such as the enormous single carded Galactus, the Invaders 4 pack, 50/50 “Impossible” Hulk and the Sentinel.

Before working at Hasbro, David worked for Toy Biz, Inc. in New York and worked alongside other Toy Biz team members (Jesse Falcon, Damon Nee) on game changing lines like Marvel Legends, Spider-Man and Lord of the Rings.
