Hello everyone!

Okay I'm a little confused about this so called '3D Printing' . . .

Apparently, I can make my own toys like famous ones or custom designs
all in the comfort of my own home (LIke I've never heard that before).

Here are some examples:
3D Printing And The Toy Industry - Business Insider (Apparently it's a big threat to the toy industry).

and this site can actually help you download a 'toy' design which you
can re-create through something called a 3D printer.

https://pinshape.com/items/9887-3d-p...th-spinner-toy

Does anyone here have experience with this technology or is it just another bust?

I wouldn't mind making my own toys (Dark Knight / TMNT Hybrid ha!)
but I'm totally oblivious to this field.

If you want quality printed toys its going to be horribly expensive. Here are some of the steps that need to happen.

-Hire someone to digitally sculpt the figure you want, including engineering all joints.

-Hire someone to draw a turnaround of your character so the sculptor has reference material.

-Spend money printing test pieces, having the sculptor refine the model further to make it possible to print using as little material as possible while keeping structural integrity. This helps lower costs by needing less material to print the object.

-Choose the material to print with. Prices vary wildly. If you want a clean detailed surfce youll pay through the nose.

-Youll most likely pay again after to have the pieces cleaned, smoothed, etc.

-Hire someone to paint your stuff.

Congratulations, you just spent like 1000 dollars and a month to print one toy haha.

On a more serious note, i thought talented fans would be uploading their 3D fansculpts, for everyone to print at home by now, but no such thing has happened.
