Don't forget the 6" MAFEX line too and the very similar scale DC Collectibles line. So four sixish inch lines.

Oh, that's nothing. Try counting the number of Veronica Hulkbusters that came out that were not 4 inch scale!

I agree with the theory of Ravenxl7 is the best hope: There possibly being a few 4" figures from BvS that are sold exclusively at one of the major dollar chain stores. That happened with both TDK and MOS. If this happens, I predict it will just be four figures that are only 5 POA that are sized down versions of the 6": Aquaman, Armored Batman, Batman and Superman. (No Wonder Woman, because they are selling to boys, their illogical thinking goes.) But hey, these will probably be less than $6 each at least. With this possibility in mind, I'll check out Family Dollar during the spring. |

Went into a justice store for this set. Felt weird but had no choice since their online didn't have it and eBay and amazon wanted way too much for them. Plus batman needed a some new threads.

The toys for Man of Steel were 3 3/4", so it's doubly strange because of that.

They made the 3.75 line and the Movie Masters line. Neither really seemed to sell well (at least around here) so I guess they only chose to focus on one size.
It's some ol' bullshit I agree but what are you gonna do? What really gets me is that they're finally making Flash and Arrow Multiverse figures but they're 6 inch figures. Last edited by snake5289; 12-06-2015 at 05:00 PM.. |

I personally find it baffling that 6" apparently sell well. If more collectors bought 4", then there would be more 4" figures... right?
I don't know, perhaps there's more to it than that. Maybe the 6" format is more profitable, though not necessarily popular, for the toy companies. Since they are larger, they can be sold for more than 4", and oil prices are really low now, so the raw plastic material costs could be low now, too. Additionally, maybe kids (boys) just don't care for playing with 4" figures. So you have adult collectors, but many of us gripe about the lack of POA (but the sculpting details are far better nowadays). So maybe the toy companies find it a losing, thankless proposition to sell 4" to finicky adult collectors. From this perspective, I could see it as not worth the trouble for them: the profit margins are lower, and the buyers complain. (And if the figures have more than 5 POA, maintaining consistent quality -- preventing breakage -- becomes more of an issue, which contributes further to smaller profit margins.) I wonder if Hasbro only continues to offer Star Wars in 4" for the sake of tradition. Otherwise, it wouldn't have surprised me if they had ditched 4" entirely for 6" collectibles for adults, large-sized plastic dolls for boys, and those little cartoony-style figures and spaceship sets for toddlers. It looks like they are going this way for future Marvel movies. Last edited by thewriteguy; 12-06-2015 at 07:43 PM.. |

Multiverse had good sculpt and articulation (Origins Batman is probably one of my favorite figures I own) but they dropped them for 6 inch figures so I guess it had to be profits/sales or whatever. And here I thought they sold pretty well since I could never find any in a store. Most of the ones I have I ordered off of Amazon.

Boss Fight seems to be the only company that seems to give a damn about this scale anymore.
(I would add Mezco if they'd ever actually release those damn MKX figures!)

I see a lot of potential for customs too, especially the all blue buck, perfect Dr. Manhattan right there.

As of 21 hours ago, the Mezco Twitter feed mentioned that the 12" and 3.75" MKX figures were still shipping next year. He said this in the context of that 6" line likely ending after series 2.

I'm glad 3.75s are still on track but killing the 6 inch line so early means nothing good for 3.75. Dammit, Mezco made my favorite 3.75s ever. I wish they'd do more.
Back on topic, does anybody even know if there's a future for the Batman Unlimited line? Like any figures past what's out there now supposed to be coming?

Star Wars will carry the 3.75 market, so if their vehicles and figures sell well for Christmas, we will see a resurgence with other properties probably late next year. Unfortunately, articulation is worse overall than it has been for over 20 years, other than black series.

Also the DC super girls line for girls has a decent looking 6 inch line coming. Not too cartoony. So there is another 6 inch line.
