I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder why, I haven't seen a local store that's been able to keep wave 1 in stock.

I got an email from BBTS about the new basic Mattel DC figures and this pack caught my eye:

I noticed though that some of these have already popped up on ebay, I must admit I caved and bought Green Arrow and Deathstroke despite these figures not being all that great...

I've seen that set at retail, but it couldn't justify paying $50 for it. I hate being one of those guys who waits for things to hit clearance...

I stopped at TRU yesterday, they are now charging $16.49 for the multiverse figs! I thought the sign was a mistake, but the scanner said $16.49 too...the total heroes 6" line was the same. Don't think I'll be browsing that TRU anytime soon.

Yeah TRU is bullshit that way but (at least around here) it's the only place to find certain things.

Yeah I was just shocked, my local TRU had them for $8.99 in February. I know cost of plastic and oil has went up, but to almost double in 2 months is odd. Maybe they sold really well and they raised the price?

$16.49 you have got to be shitting me. Even the comic shop across the street from my TRU has them for only $12.99 and their toys are always hella expensive.

I've seen the TH figures for $14.99 at TRU with the MV figures at $10.49 and I thought those were ridiculous prices, even for TRU.

So my friend ordered the Injustice Superman/Nightwing pack as a birthday present and it should be here within a few days. Any major problem areas I should look out for? I've heard some problems about the little guys (like they can break straight out of the package) and I'd like to avoid something like that if at all possible. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I've only personally had problems with the female figures of this line.

If any of the joints seem to be stuck, don't force 'em. Just accept the fact that that part can't move. You could try heating it up with a hairdryer and carefully attempt to pop it loose, but even then it may break.

And keep an eye on the little pouch things on Nightwing's ankles. Mine is missing one, and I have no idea if it came from the factory that way or if it just fell off as I took it out of the box. It's tiny and impossible to find if it hits carpet.

Yeah, the Injustice toys are hit or miss with quality control. For what it's worth, my Superman has fallen from a pretty tall height several times (I have him and Doomsday suspended from my ceiling. There were a few... hiccups at first)and survived without a scratch. I had no problem with Nightwing either, other than the missing ankle pouch.

One of Superman's legs will probably be a little deformed due to the pose he is packaged in, though.

I've seen the way his leg can look but the hot water trick seems to work. And saw your pic the way you have them posed is awesome. Good to know that they seem durable.

Hey guys

I got the new Deathstroke figure and it was so hideous I decided to just salvage the head and web gear to make this.

Ive done a few Slade customs in the past, some more intricate than others but this was definitely the fastest and easiest of them all...and its my favourite! :P

Nice! That's an all around fantastic animated-style Deathstroke right there.

Are the blue armor parts also from the original DS toy? And I'm assuming that's a Snake Eyes sword? It works very well, not only because it's similar to Deathstroke's island sword from Arrow, but the "S" on the hilt could also stand for Slade.

Ha! Glad you noticed that

The blue torso armour is from a gi joe MOUSE figure,I loosely based his look on the ARROW version:

Best Deathstroke so far is probably the Injustice one pictured with my custom above.

This is a greater issue affecting the overall toy industry that was recently reported in the business press: The toy biz isn't doing so well (due in part to video games), and both Hasbro and Mattel have been having a tough time selling toys in recent years.

In the action figure market, both are trying to find a balance between selling to kids and collectors. Personally, I happen to like the "evergreen" Batman line of 4" figures because of the fact that they're supposed to be played with. For me, that's the charm and appeal -- they're actual child playthings. (I really hope they make a Batmobile for the evergreen 4" Batman.) But we may be entering a time when little boys in the coming years won't be interested in action figures at all (unless they can be interacted with digitally, such as via augmented reality), so it will be up to the adult collector market. Will Mattel be able to step up, that's the question. And this could conflict with DCC's offerings.

Anyway, I just learned that Hot Toys also sold a snap-together 4" pose-able Batman action figure from Batman Begins several years ago, which is near impossible to find for sale now new or assembled. So Hot Toys can also be added to the alternative DC 4" action figure category.

If anyone could manage to collect all the DC 4" figures sold by DCC, Takara (Microman series), Bandai, and MEGO, then you get props by me for being a hard-core collector.
Funny you mention the interaction digitally. Disney is experimenting with that, and Skylanders has proven successful. I've honestly started wondering how long it'll be before it's integrated into stands for Hasbro similar to the star wars voice ID chip ones they did before or if Mattel might try to find a way to integrate that feature into the figures themselves in future offerings. It's an interesting blend of play factor to re-playability.

Would especially be interesting if they managed to include DLC to some games via this method. You buy the figure, and bam, you get to play as them in certain games with an additional "that character only" bonus mission too.

That's always been my minor complaint to Skylanders. I love the concept, but wish the little figures themselves were more interactive and poseable when separate from the game. (Like finding a way to combine the mega bloks versions with the current video game statue ones.)
