Anyhoo, there was an announcement made today about merchandising for all of the upcoming DC tv shows, including izombie. The most promising part of the press release is that Mattel does indeed have the rights for Arrow toys, so maybe we will get a multiverse figure?
Hopefully we'll see something at SDCC. If not for the TV shows, at least something for the Multiverse line. Something to show us that it's going to continue.

That would be great news if it meant they would actually do anything with it. They have the licensing, but it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't see anything come from them. Do they also have licensing for iZombie and The Flash? It's less likely than Multiverse figures from Arrow and The Flash, but I would definitely buy an iZombie figure. Even better if they did both the show and comics versions of the main character.
Hopefully we'll see something at SDCC. If not for the TV shows, at least something for the Multiverse line. Something to show us that it's going to continue. I'd definitely like some figures for Constantine and The Flash. Don't know anything about iZombie. Gotham was probably talked about the most, if I recall, but I can't imagine there being much toyline potential there. Too much of a focus on "realism" in a pre-costumed vigilante world. And trust me, I'm not getting my hopes up for Mattel to get their collective heads out of their asses. DCC is much more likely to do something with whatever licenses they're given to work with. |

You read that right. DCC is part of DC, so they don't need a license to do anything with DC characters. About the only restriction they would have is to avoid violating the licensing agreements that DC has with other companies, such as Mattel.
As for more Multiverse figures, I'm all for it and I also hope Mattel announces the continuation of the line beyond what we already know.

I'd love to see the line continue on for a good while, but I'll be surprised if these movie figures aren't the last of it that we see. We'll either get some great news at SDCC, or they won't mention it at all, silently confirming our fears.

Masked Keaton is great, as long as you can find one with decent paint apps for the chest emblem and eyes. The head sculpt on the unmasked variant is... not my favorite.

As Ravenxl7 mentioned, Multiverse is supposed to consist of three themed series this year: video games, movies and an as-yet-unrevealed mystery theme. Each series is supposed to be comprised of 6 figures. So far, this is the lineup we know:
Series One (Arkham games): AC Batman AC Armored Batman AO Bane AC Azrael AC Mr. Freeze AO Deadshot Series Two (Movies): '89 Batman '89 Batman (unmasked) '78 General Zod '92 Penguin '92 Catwoman* '78 Superman* *upcoming releases Series Three (???) No news is not necessarily bad news. Sometimes there can be behind-the-scenes events that only delay product rather than outright cancel it. Hopefully at very least Mattel will give us more info on that third wave and whatever else is due out this year. Masked Keaton is great, as long as you can find one with decent paint apps for the chest emblem and eyes. The head sculpt on the unmasked variant is... not my favorite. |

so far ive bought every fig from this line except bane, and I already know im gonna break and get him too. if this line continues to be as good as the 89 batman and zod i'll buy every fig I can find. if the line is dead then I will be a sad sad panda.
this is the only line in a long time that I have happily bought as many of the figures that I can. I usally only get what I really like from each line but this line has hit some real homeruns and availability of all the figs has been great. I wish the batmobile for sdcc wasn't gonna end up costing too much for me so im hoping a cheaper mass release happens so I can get a few of them.

^ me too. Only figure I've passed on is zod, banes not bad, I can't seem to find penguin or unmasked keaton. I'm hoping mattel keeps pumping these out and improving. This line is a lot better than almost anything else in this scale at retail, which all seems to be 5 poa junk that peg warms even when clearanced.

I've been pretty selective with Multiverse. Had no interest in Azrael or that specific version of Deadshot, nearly bought armored Batman but decided against it. I did get AC Batman once I saw how good he looked with a TDKR head swap. Bane is probably my favorite, with Freeze being my least.
Unmasked Keaton and Penguin are sitting in my pile of loot at the moment. Keaton'll be kept MOC and eventually paired with Catwoman on a wall, while Penguin will be opened up and put in my display. As for Zod, I'm waiting 'til I see him in person. Hell, I might even wait until Reeve Superman is released. They'll be displayed side-by-side MOC like Keaton and Catwoman, assuming they both look okay. Probably won't get one without the other. I think I'm most looking forward to the DCC Injustice Joker/Batman set. Don't like that batman at all, but Joker looks pretty good. Let's just hope they've minimized the risk of breakages after all of this time - particularly since Joker seems to have a lot of articulation and runs the risk of being fragile. I figure it'll be fine, though. |

Should have gone with Insurgency Batman instead imo. He was more central to the story. Then again so was Regime Superman but they went with the the "good" Superman anyway (though to be fair when he crosses dimensions and starts kicking ass and taking names it's incredibly awesome). Oh well them's the breaks I suppose.

Hopefully at very least Mattel will give us more info on that third wave and whatever else is due out this year. The figures could be: Batman Arkham Knight Harley Two-Face Riddler Scarecrow The reasoning for the last four villains is because we haven't seen recent versions of them in 4" scale produced by Mattel. (A 4" Two-Face has been made for the "evergreen" Batman line.) Backing this theory up is, of course, the AK Batmobile that will be sold at SDCC. |

And if there is a Multiverse Wave 4, I am betting the six figures will be based on the costumed characters from the Arrow and upcoming The Flash TV series.
So maybe Mattel is alternating between video game and movie/TV for each 6-figure wave. I don't know where I read it, but I think the Multiverse figures will not be based on any of the comic book or animated versions of DC characters. So no The Dark Knight Returns or Batman The Animated Series 4" figures, for example. |

I haven't read anything concrete, but supposedly they're biased against doing any animation or comics based figures. Which is too bad, because they could do plenty of figures. Sticking to just games and live-action stuff, they'll soon run out of characters to do. Especially since there are a lot of the show characters I can't imagine them doing. As cool as it would be to have figures of Felicity, Diggle, and even Laurel, I doubt Mattel would give them any serious thought.
