Red Hood looks great and I like this batgirl, but goddamn they NEED to do away with those awful capes.

  1. 3D print of Flash's Cosmic Treadmill! I had to downsize it since it was intended for McFarlane 7" figures, but it printed very well.
  2. A figure I printed a little while ago, he was tricky. Kinda-sorta reminded me of Black Flash, so that's how I decided to paint him.
  3. Straight up custom of Freddy Freeman Shazam the way he appears in the comics. I cut out white spandex and painted the border of his cape. And I actually 3D printed lion medallion cape clasps, but they're so tiny you can't see the detail. Oh well.
  4. Poison Ivy! I can't wait on the toy makers to get around to releasing her. I went with a super simple approach, using her colors from BTAS. The ivy is from the old Uma Thurman movie figure.
  5. Joker's gas bomb 3D print.
  6. And I love the last one. More of Dollar Tree's Final Faction line, I painted Sergeant Steel and his separate accessory pack to make an original Multiverse/Elseworlds Blue Beetle. He's Ted Garrett. Or Dan Kord? Lol
Whoa does this stuff articulate okay being scaled to 1:18?

Do you mean the Black Flash 3D printed figure? Honestly the articulation is limited on him. Swivel shoulders and hip joints, hinged knees... that's about it. Pretty much just for posing/displaying.

There are some retro-styled figures that I'm working on that have standard 70s Star Wars-era articulation (see links). So far I haven't found anything that has even Spin Master level articulation at this scale.

I'm not really thrilled with that Bat-wing
Those wings need to be wider

Oh, I worded that weirdly. By "working on" I meant I had printed them and I'm currently painting them. Not my designs, sorry!

Yeah, I agree - Batwing is a disappointment. They should've made it $30 like Supes' vehicle, then it would've been larger.

I don't think I posted this before, but here is my G.I. Robot. It's all Marauder Task Force except for the head which is an Iron Man Mark 2.

I've been figuring out a way to articulate figures for 3D print - simple articulation like this would be fine, do you have any tips for how to do it? like a specific joint to use and how to splice it in in Blender?

Honestly the most I've personally designed and printed myself are simple shapes and text. I customize playsets, so I made and printed my own Daily Planet letters, for instance.

I totally get what you're trying to do though... have you searched sites like Cults3D or Sketchfab? You could probably find the joints you want on there, then use Blender to piece them together. Blender is a little intimidating to me, the UI is a mess. I'd probably start with Tinkercad online and move up from there. Lol

I know not all stores discount the same but selina is $3 and penguin $5 at Walmart by me. Not sure about Bats...and vehicle sets aren't discounted. Any chance the batcave sets are hitting Ross?

Been using brickseek to locate the McFarlane Super Powers stuff, and I stumbled across the Batman set with Lt. Gordon + Gotham police car there as well. It's gone from $31 to $10 in some places around me. That's two figures (one an exclusive) plus a vehicle and accessories for $10. Worth checking!

Blender is intimidating to me, too. I was watching some tutorial videos this week and mustered up enough motivation to try my hand at modifying some 3d stl's I downloaded. I found a human foot design on thingiverse, downloaded the .stl, imported it in Blender, then used 'decimate' to simplify the geometry and then saved it again as an stl. I had to simplify it because it had too much geometry for sketchup to handle. I opened it in sketchup 2017 (last desktop free version, and far more user friendly than Blender), and created a sphere over the ankle, selected all, and intersected the faces with the selection. Then I just deleted the sphere and leftover geometry above the foot, scaled it to the proper size, used the "inspect and repair extension (a must-have for 3d printing), and exported it as an stl again.

For 3d printing, I have an Anycubic Photon Mono (sla resin printer), and I recently bought the flexible tough resin, which is amazing for figures and accessories, by the way. I printed the feet in clear resin and they are strong and have some flexibility to them (not brittle like basic resin). I'd say this resin is about as flexible and durable as professionally made action figures. Now I just need to drill for the ankle pegs and figure stand holes, paint the feet, and attach them to the figure.

I would not recommend 3d printing joints or other figure parts (other than heads) in standard resin since it is so brittle. I would also recommend against printing using filament (fdm printing), save for vehicles, large accessories, or diorama components, unless you are okay with less detail. They would probably work okay for inner joint parts of figures, if you have a small enough nozzle, though.

IF you file and prime and stuff you can get fine results with FDM for action figures tbh. If you're looking to do really detailed high definition stuff you'll struggle but if you're talking about the quality of most Marvel Universe figures you'll be fine.
