Id love to have this version of the flash. Its easily my favorite and could easily just be wally west as the flash.

Well, it fixes the articulation problem, but it doesn't fix the height really; these figures are actually now a little TOO tall compared to Marvel Legends and DCUC. These seem to be more made to fit in the scale of most of the figures DC Collectibles has produced, with a nearly-7-inch-scale.

I honestly don't get why they need to compare with Marvel Legends in size. It's not like they are all from the same universe. I think the better option was to make them to be in scale with their previouis lines. That makes the most sense.

like someone else said....i CANT invest in these until probably TWO years from now when the line will be ONE year old...we'll see how many were produced..how they look..and if the line is continuing.. I think a lot of us feel burned with the whole Icons things. I certainly do. Made me wish i'd never bought any..I'd sell them but..well..they kinda look too good ;o)

Problem was in quotation marks. I wasn't being serious about there being a problem with the articulation or the height, only quoting others who were inexplicably mad about it.

The DCE figures are supposed to be 6.75", which is what a lot DCC figures come out to. I'm sure someone will still have a cow about it though.

There's nothing wrong with owning good toys, even if they don't match up with the rest of your collection.

Never cared about the scale, just the overall look of the icons figures.
Don´t feel these are up to pair with Icons in the sculpt/design department, plus I will never be dealing with DC collectibles again; they are too inconsisted. (fool me once...)

While I may sell a few of them, I'm probably going to keep most of the Batman related Icons figures.

I think DC Icons is dead.
  1. You don't prototype 8 figures unless you're REALLY serious about replacing an existing line.
  2. DC Essentials fixes the height and articulation "problems" of Icons.
  3. DCE also fits into scale with the Bombshells figures.
  4. We've yet to see any Icons figures like Nightwing or Supergirl on display but it may still be too early. Although previous Icons figures have been shown at Cons only to never be seen again.
Yeah, I think you are spot on. There is no way that Icons is not dead. I'll be shocked if after this news that the announced figures like Supergirl, Nightwing and the 2 packs will see the light of day.

DCC really should have just introduced a running change to Icons.

So is anyone at the con going to actually ask DCC about interchangeable hands and question their commitment or are people just going to gawk at them on the show floor and tell DC how nice they look like tools?

For me, I regard all my 6" figures as a single collection and like taking pictures of them for Instagram, mixing and matching universes. Having the characters be able to look at least passably decent with each other is pretty crucial to me. Legends and Universe/Multiverse mix decently well.

If DCE figures are noticeably larger than Marvel Legends figures, it makes the line, for me, just as much of a non-starter as DC Icons were. If they don't look good together that would be a shame because I would LOVE a Superman that can actually hit a decent looking flight pose and Mattel has locked itself in the articulation dark ages.

The DCUC figures were still not fully in scale.

Plus, for me, scale doesn't matter as none of my Figuarts are in scale with Marvel Legends or any DC line except for the Icons one.

D.C. Universe Classics and Marvel Legends are close enough to the same scale. My Cyclops and Superman figs are within a millimeter or so of each other which is as about as close to in scale with each other as figures within the same line.

They're certainly closer to each other than Icons were, or, from the sounds of it, DCE.

I would assume that DCC is aiming these to fit in with the rest of their figures better. I'm sure they don't even, justifiably, take other companies into consideration.

Is there any functional difference between this line and the last or is it a meaningless name change?

Between this and Icons? Icons were smaller in scale. Just below 6" & these will be a more normal DC Collectibles scale, in line with the TV figures at 6.75".

Patience. I'm sure we'll get a couple of interviews once SDCC is over. The people who go out there to report news and whatnot back to us have a loooot to do durring the convention. Give it some time.

That said, as of now I wouldn't anticipate any interviewer asking DCC any hard hitting questions. I know I'll regret it afterwards, but I know I'm going to watch the inevitable Pixel Dan interview. Even thouh I know he won't ask any questions that don't stroke the ego of the wacky-waving-inflatable-arms-tube-man of a rep he always talks to...

Edit: Actually, PD already put up his DCC video. Couldn't make it all the way through it, but it's pretty much exactly what I was expecting...

As it's been mentioned, there's the size difference. There's also some differences in the articulation schemes. Not only do these look to be more articulated than the Icons were, the articulaion for these also seems to be consistant figure to figure.

Just read that Superman is getting his red trunks back - wonder if they will update this figure?

Doubt it will matter to me though...can't say I like the looks of them much.

Considering DC never bothered to fix the complaints people had on prototype Icons that took 18 months to come out, I highly doubt DC is going to care now.
