Stole the idea from everyone before me. Don't know if the ICONS line will catch on and they don't scale with DC Classics but I didn't see a thread for them.

I wasn't really on board with a new scale but have to say after having in hand I am enjoying the Batman so far and with the possibility of these being improved here's hoping we get some cool pics of these figures.

Here's my review I did of the Last Rites Batman. Would love to hear how the rest of the figures from the first wave stack up because I am still on the fence a little on buying the rest of the wave.

I feel like this could go into the regular DC 6" appreciation thread since they are close enough in size. There was once a thread started just for the DCC 7" figures but that ended up being absorbed into the regular 6" thread and those figures are even more out of scale with DCUC than these. I think it just makes it easier to put everything in the general same size area (or close enough at least) within the same thread so we don't end up with a 6" thread, a 7" thread, and an Icons thread to split the attention.

Two totally different companies there. DCC is making Icons while Mattel is also doing their own 6" line (universe or multiverse or whatever the hell they're calling it) which will have the build-a-figure gimmick per wave (I believe Collect-n'-connect was the DCUC version). So since DCC is Icons that could kinda be considered the more "serious" collector oriented line while Mattel's 6" stuff would still be more accessible to play but still have some thought towards collectors (like Hasbro's 6" lines).

If we're going to give it its own thread, then:

Agreed. Hell, I wish Batman was the Neal Adams version. Nevertheless, I've come to terms that DC might not do my favorite incarnations at first, but they are way too awesome to pass up. I just hope they fully commit to this line, do obscure and oversized characters, and will do my favorite versions later. Hell, I would love it if they were to do Neal Adams two packs that are Batman and Robin, Ra's and Talia, and Green Arrow and Green Lantern.

As for the hood, it is not removable, however, it is made of a really soft plastic. As such, you might be able to heat it up and mold it down if you want.

Meh, I'm tired of the black and gray Batmans, but at this piont, all I want is a nice Batman with the round yellow bat insignia in the center of his chest. I just don't understand why DC seems compelled to forget that incarnation of Batman exists.

Are you sure she is next month? I thought Wave 3 was not going to be out until March.

I grew up on the yellow oval but I prefer the black&gray with the black trunks and black bat.

The 70s is my favorite era of Batman as that is when Denny O'Neil, Neal Adams, Dick Giordano, and Len Wein made Batman good again, and they are by far my favorite team who worked on Batman. As such, what they did is my favorite incarnation of the character. That is also what makes BTAS so good. The majority of that show was influenced and directly adapted from that era.

Yep. You can tell the influence is so strong that the creative team was incredibly wary of introducing Bane, a '90s creation, as they found him gimmicky (admittedly at the time of his creation he did seem like a one-off "look what we did!") and when they did for only one episode on the original run it was not one of the better episodes. While different Bat-fans have their different preferred versions the '70s were instrumental to reshaping the caped crusader.

I thought they did a good job with him, at least, initially when he was a mercenary for Thorne. They kind of screwed him up with the Gotham Knights sereis, especially when they gave him that really bad accent.

Yep, I read somewhere that she is coming in January. It might have been the BBTS site.

Bane only had one episode per run. In TAS he functioned as an assassin hired by Thorne to kill Batman and a few elements of Knightfall were roughly adapted to the screen. I don't care much for this version because the accent was over the top and he was literally wearing a wrestling getup, to this version's credit he was displayed with a degree of cunning and intellect. In TNBA he technically only appeared within a Scarecrow hallucination as Gordon's partner and now donned what I call "gimp Bane!" Still voiced by Henry Silva but with a much less cartoony accent (seriously the TAS accent was too damn much) this Bane had a more active fight with Batman and while there was really no time to take stock of his intelligence he was more well spoken and had a very nice evil side. Between the two I honestly prefer the latter version because neither costume was ideal but the second one had a better fight and just generally a better episode. Bane's TNBA design would be used for the Batwoman animated movie and here he had a different (IMO not as good) voice actor but the fight was still okay.

Don't forget he appeared in the STAS episode where Superman was pretending to be Batman. Fun episode.

Yeah, he appeared in that and the Mystery of the Batwoman movie, which is where they gave him that horrid accent.

I think his appearance in TAS was to show that he was really only a one trick pony and there was nothing more behind his character other than a marketing gimmick.

He was great in Arkham Origins. Probably my favorite villain in the game.

I don't think Arkham Origins gets enough credit. The game wasn't perfect and didn't really add any new features (just new gadgets) to the franchise but way too many people made it sound like the game was a cheap copy-n'-paste of the previous games. Origins had a pretty neat story, good graphics, and some nice new castings for the voices of these iconic characters. It is probably the best non-comic depiction of Bane even though it frustrates me that he never once actually breaks Batman's back in game, but J P Blanc did a good, menacing, not too heavily accented voice that fit the character pretty well. Troy Baker also did a really good job as the Joker and does sound pretty close to Mark Hamill's Joker from some of the earlier episodes of the animated series, not as good as Hamill but if Hamill ever decides he's done for good with voicing work then I'd say Baker should become the new go to Joker.

I was way late to the Mattel DCU line so when this line was announced I was really excited. I like the figures so far, but do hope that keep it up with a mix of popular and obscure characters.

I would love to see a decent Batman Beyond figure.

I love the look of this line but $25-$28 maybe $30 with tax in some stores is just way too much. I may regret not getting them down the road but those prices are crazy.
