I agree. The point is not that the figure looks bad. It looks fucking great. What I find is the constant enabibility for people to let go of the fact that this outfit has and will change. My opinion means nothing and is nothing and will be ignored and or forgotten on an insignificant toy board. But man I hear so many complaints about the fact that things looks different from what people hold nostalgicaly ideal.

Well put...not to mention the bad asses of professional wrestling at that time such as Karl Gotch, "Strangler" Ed Lewis, Verne Gagne, Jim Londos, and Lou Thesz...who "worked" matches as we've come to know in the modern times, but were also legitimate shooters who could stretch you ten ways from Sunday if crossed them.
My point isn't some kind of appeal to nostalgia, that "the old ways were better", but that there were cultural reasons that these visual tropes came to be in the first place, that people didn't view it as "underwear on the outside" back in the day but instead a straightforward evocation of the visual features of real-life examples of great physical strength, and that those evocations then began to reinforce themselves within the medium when superheroes themselves became the icons of physical strength and ability that future creators drew upon. At some point cultural views about clothing eventually changed to where some began to view trunks as silly, but to me that specific notion has always felt less like a straightforward natural development and more like people internalizing "schoolyard bullying over interests"-level of petty mockery towards the visual tropes of superheroes, or insecure worrying about it making them "too silly" and restricting superhero stuff from being """serious enough""". Superheroes don't need trunks to denote strength or fighting ability, of course not! There's so many more ways superheroes can do that now. But I don't think spurning them is really constructive, either. Trunks aren't something we need to let go of, when they can continue to exist alongside newer visual tropes and aesthetics. I see Todd has migrated back to his comfort zone of statues with Dark Flash. lol
I really hope the old fart retires and lets actually talented sculptors and figure makes take over. |

I wouldn't mind a decent statue of something that looks good and shows some real passion and attention to detail. The old Predator and Aliens and some of the horror statues of yesteryear were / are gorgeous.
I just wish some of the basic design decisions coming out lately weren't so poor. Look at that Dark Flash. Seriously, they just roll somebody in black tar and it gets approved for release?! Come ON. I'm with Jeddostotle7. At least, by going back to some of the classic designs and adopting an 'authentic' approach, we as collectors aren't forced to put up with some jerk trying to add his or her own punk "interpretation" to something that's best left alone. The same point applies to the retooling of franchises in Hollywood to support contemporary agendas. Let the market speak. |

I can't blame Todd for Dark flash. That's WB's shit ass design.
Guess they didn't want to waste Reverse Flash in this film. |

All points aside regarding the character design, this pose is embarrassing. Is that suppose to look like he's running? They can do way better than that, makes sense why it's a McFarlane store exclusive

To be fair did you see the way Miller "ran" in Justice League? The pose is pretty accurate in that regard. I hope they had him work on that for the Flash movie.

Good point. I remember wondering about that bizarre flapping of the arms. You'd think that an actor getting paid to depict a superhero whose special power is the ability to run fast would at least get coached on how to look like a competent runner.
The actor gives off a weird vibe in other ways. Somebody needs to kick his ass and tell him to stop slouching and make an effort. In a way, he's a metaphor for Hollywood in general. It's like the whole industry was afflicted with some kind of sickness 3-4 years ago, and now nobody cares. On the positive side, there's not much coming out lately that motivates me to spend money. |

The thing is they WANT him to run that way. he's supposed to be running like a speed skater skates. Which looks idiotic when running

Pisses me off Black Lightning is gold label (Please be target) with its popularity from the TV Show I would think Todd would have it as a regular release. I hope to get him somehow.
Also someone tell Todd nobody wants those stupid Jokerized versions of Batman and Robin |

Of course a re-release of the 89 batmobile & batman are fucking gold label. Even catman is fucking gold label. Its like all the shit people might actually want are gold label. Im damn near at the point of saying fuck mcfartlame selling off my figs and washing my hands of him since he cant get his head outta the late 90s early 2000s and into the modern age.

Any guesses on how the '89 Batmobile may differ from the Flash Batmobile? I don't expect any tooling changes, like a new canopy, but painted wheels would be a nice start.
I assume that the end of the gun doors being separate parts means Brownings at some point. |

The '89 Batmobile has twin machine guns hidden beneath beneath those rectangular panels in front of the canopy, and the McF version of the car has the foremost part of those panels clipped on rather than molded in. Presumably, this would be so that an accessory (i.e. the Brownings) can be swapped in on a different release. The presentation wouldn't be remotely accurate, but not much is on the car.

Also, what makes you think they are now allowing guns (again) in the line? I'd LOVE that. But haven't seen any indication that's happening. The Batfleck bike has them but they have no muzzle holes. They don't immediately read as "guns". Much different than a pair of readily recognizable mounted 50's. Again it would be GREAT. I just have seen no indications it's happening. If you have please spill! Man I agree. If it's WM it will suck BIG TIME. I never even saw Knightfall AzBats. Last edited by firmpulse; 05-30-2023 at 08:55 AM.. |

I'd love a Batmobile with functioning gun doors and pop up 50s. As someone who has totally disassembled a Flash Batmobile for repainting I can tell you that the circular detail bits are not easily removable. Could they create clip on guns with smaller tabs? Yeah maybe. But it would require a structural support revision within the interior and the guns would be positioned too far forward. They would look kind of weird. Not an ideal solution. It would not make me pay more money for a "Gold Label" version.
Also, what makes you think they are now allowing guns (again) in the line? I'd LOVE that. But haven't seen any indication that's happening. The Batfleck bike has them but they have no muzzle holes. Oof, if I'd known he was going to be so hard-to-find, I would have picked a couple more for trading. Maybe then I could actually get my hands on the classic costume version of Kyle Rayner...
