McFarlane knows translucent plastic exists yet refused to use it for Firestorm's flames. They didn't even make new banded bracers for Sinestro.

Oh and for comic reference, if the artists colored the suit grey, the cowl is grey. If the suit is blue or black, the cowl is blue or black. Why is this figure the only one that mismatches the colors?

Not sure why my brain works like this but...

When I see Steel Batman, it looks unfinished and triggers a "skip" command in my head.

When I see Firestorm, doesn't do that, and it's on the to-grab list.

They probably both have the same amount of raw plastic and paint apps present, if not close.

I think anything meant to be real-worldy - needs that paint attention. Old school comicy looking figs can get away with raw plastic color blocking. Or something.

Bottom line, as I get older my tolerance for "unfinished" figures, corner cut figures, not-quite-there figures - is getting worse. I understand business reasoning, mass market, hitting numbers for everyone involved in the sell chain. Don't care.

Make it right, make it so I don't think "that could be better if they did X" before it even comes out.

I’d love a classic Firestorm, I really would but this ain’t good enough. I can’t stand Todd’s gummy stuff, and 7” isn’t my bag anyway but more than that, the sleeves aren’t puffy enough, there should be more dark make up around the eyes, the flametop effect is half-hearted, and it really should come with a giant translucent Martin head on a stand.

Out of all of that crap, the only one I want is the BTAS Scarecrow. And I'm not even 100% on that one because I hate the cel shading. I'll probably end up hunting down the DCC version.

Hawkman with the big wings I kinda understand, but we got a movie Hawkman without higher prices... They really couldn't add a peg joint into the wings to open and close.
