Can anyone comment if Hasbro tends to change sculpts before release?

The prototype theyre showing is wonderfully accurate

This is the first Alien/Hasbro cross-over, isn't it? If they start making Colonial Marines in Marvel Legends/GIJoe Classified style, that would be wonderful!

Now if they make the M56 Smartgun I'll really be in trouble!

Had to get this, even better than Mandalorian rifle they have.

Granted this would be more ideal in the movie accurate color scheme, it could easily be repainted. And while not the accurate colorway, pretty awesome they went with the power loader motif for the paint apps, so I'm tempted to not even repaint mine.

My bank account will be happy: my brain had read the release date as October '21 instead of '22 and I had already resigned myself to not getting anything else for awhile before I realized my mistake. Is it normal for Hasbro to put up product for order more than a year before release?

I'm really pleased most of the changes were strictly for Nerf compatibility and they kept most everything else looking right! And while I'm sure a more accurate color would go over well (toy regulations aside) we all know that'd open a whole new can of worms with the green vs brown debate

Plus, at this price point there's no doubt that whatever weathering they went for wouldn't be stellar, so we'd all be repainting anyway

13 months later

I got an email last night from Pulse to confirm my address and payment method because they're about to start shipping! I've been reading up on it the past day (Australia got them last month for... some reason?) and while it's not the best performer, the brown bess baddie is still looking just as great as the renders!

The magwell isn't compatible with standard ones unless you permanently modify them, and they're not selling spare PR mags, so there goes, you know, the whole point of having magazines in the first place. Also, those "movie-accurate blasting sounds"? Generic sound effects, not the actual pulse rifle sfx.

I'm still looking forward to modding mine, but there's going to be a lot more work ahead of me than I'd anticipated.

I simply wanted an Aliens Pulse Rifle. I'm not planning to go into Nerf battle with it, I'm not even going to let the kids play with it! Wouldn't want them scratching it! It'll be a crown jewel in my Nerf arsenal. I know many will mod it, I know many Cosplayers will customize it, me, I'll just be happy holding an Aliens Pulse Rifle!

I don't know what they're on about production delays, these are done. They've been out for months in the eastern hemisphere. Unless they actually are fixing some of the issues, I don't appreciate being lied to about their mistake.

The original pre-order was last year, but they're available to order again from GameStop in the US and Australia. I believe they're available elsewhere, but I can't recall where exactly at the moment.

Pulse Rifles, for moi?

It's been a long wait, but a big ol' box o' M41-As has landed on my porch, and I can't wait to get into their guts and start modding these. I think I'll keep one stock (for spare parts if nothing else) and do one up as a very pretty hero for looking only. One will get internal upgrades and a more basic paintjob so I don't feel bad about running around with it, and I suppose one will just be a guinea pig for testing mods?

Needless to say, I am pumped! And the sound is a lot better IRL, btw, almost like whoever was working on the soundboard didn't know what it was supposed to sound like and slightly pitched down the otherwise correct SFX to sound more like a normal gun. It's not great but not especially atrocious like I thought it'd be.

Very cool counter, I love how it resets to 99 when you reload. However, why in the world would they not make it compatible with other Nerf magazines? Not that I would go into a Nerf war with it, but now you're limited to a 10 round magazine and as far as I know, you can't even buy extra magazines. I bet there are people out there modding it already.

My guess at a non-nefarious reason would be that they already had to make the magazine well oversized to accommodate Nerf mags at all and didn't want to make it even larger to accept the rear nub on 18s or risk people permanently jamming bananas in there. Some good news is that once you trim down the inside edges of the vents so the darts don't catch, you can still fire with the barrel removed. I think that'll be one the easiest accuracy mods for people to do, and once find my chronometer I think we'll see it gives a healthy speed boost.
