I've preordered SDCC exclusives from BBTS in the past long before SDCC.

Not to cause an issue with BBTS, thats the same BBTS that did not sell Ice? I'm leaning on the Ebay for Doomsday.

If I remember hearing right somewhere , like last year, BBTS said that if they can not guarantee a minimum amount of product on the SDCC exclusives from somewhere they do not take preorders on them. Might apply to stuff from Mattycollector also. Places like Diamond make deals with them , but places like Hasbro and Matty do not, they have to get them from a third party. I believe this is why they explained the limited amount of last years SDCC stuff for sale on BBTS AND why they were at a almost triple cost over con price than previous years where they were at max double price.

****!! So I'm pretty much going to have to hope that Matty does not sell out of Doomsday during their early access cumsuckers period.

they should start appearing the day of Comic Con starts. I know Early Access is a pain for those who do not have it. But blame Mattel for not putting fourth effort to keep people interested in the Items.

For anyone wondering which Batman figure is the BEST batman figure, here's my opinion :

That there's the DC Direct Classic Icons Batman, which takes the Alex Ross "Justice" Batman and puts a more comic styled head on it. I think he looks much better than all the other Batman who look like they had to have Alfred vacuum-seal them into the suit, with every muscle bulging out. Only downside is he's more in the 7 inch scale, but with some creative futzing he looks great with a DC Classics shelf.

I've got Mattel's new 52 Batgirl, Movie Masters Bane and John Blake, and the Batman Legacy figures of first appearance Catwoman and Super Powers Mr. Freeze.
Anybody? Also adding in Mattel's Arkham City Nightwing to the comparison, if possible, would also be appreciated. That's another figure I'm thinking about getting.

I don't think anyone's "seen" it. It's a MattyCollector.com exclusive...

You can't? Not all collectors have the same interests and tastes. What one fan finds discusting, another fan finds pleasing. Doesn't make them any less of a collector.

Wow dude, you can go right back into your corner.

There's no such thing as "collectors." There's just collectors.

Or is this a TRUE FAN debate? Because let me tell you about the No True Scotsman fallacy...

You don't make any distinction between somebody who buys one or two on a whim and somebody who buys many to build a collection? They're all just interchangeable "collectors" to you? What division within Mattel are you in charge of? :P

That's what CMIII is getting at. A collector who bought many DCUCs may not want to start all over again. A collector who watched Mattel bungle and abandon many lines may not trust Mattel's word on this one.

That's my perspective at least. I don't see Mattel standing by TH or the 4" line for long. They'll bungle them, blame others, start over, and repeat. So why get invested?

Ok, now I'm really confused. When did the number of figures someone buys come into play? Which post of CMIII's are you talking about? This started with 305Batman's post.

What Boy Blunder and I are saying is that someone isn't any less of a collector/fan because they have an interest in the Total Heroes line. That, other than collecting stuff, there is no specific criteria that someone needs to fit to be called a "true collector".

Saying that someone isn't a collector because they bought the Total Heroes line is like saying someone isn't a gamer because they don't play games on a pc, or a specific console, or because they haven't played a specific game. It's ridiculus.

Pffft. You aren't a real gamer unless you use paper and a pencil.

Getting back on topic, it seems TH is doing quite well in my area. Every time Walmart restocks, all of the figures are gone within a week (even Supes). One of these days I'll get around to buying a TH Batman (and maybe GL and Sinestro), but other franchises are occupying my attention and money at the moment.

It seems to be doing pretty well here too. Though I'm not in-stores often enough to tell if they're selling out, or jus not ordering any new in. I hope it's the former. There are a couple I would like to get, but I want to wait and see what they might reveal at SDCC. I think I'll at least get the second Batman that's coming out.

By "collectors" I meant to say grownups, adults, like most of us who are in our 30's and 40's,these are perfectly fine for their intended audience, kids,I'm just surprised at how many of us are buying these, based on what I read on different forums. If you like them that's fine,I think they suck, but that's Matty's fault. BTW,one of my TRU's has had Bizarro,Freeze,Detective Batman and 2 Flash hanging on the pegs for over a week, untouched,I suppose the $14.99 could have something to do with that, although people could do the pricematch.

Ok, thanks for expanding on your earlier statement. That said, it's the " around the word collectors that, for at least me, bothers me. Saying "collectors" rather than just collectors implies that you don't see the people you are referring to as real collectors. That's how it comes across anyways. It's nice to know that that wasn't your intention.

It's nice to know the new wave is on it's way. Though I'll wait for other stores to get them in. No sign of Wonder Woman? She's supposed to be one of this wave's four new figures. Though she's probably short-packed.

My Walmart does not even sell TH, only TRU does.

Putting the debate over one's personal choice in lexicon (specifically as it pertains to "collectors") to the side...I tend to agree with 305Batman's general premise...I am in a state of utter consternation at Total Heroes selling (at all, let alone well).

I will be entirely honest, I hope for the failure of this line. My reasoning is that the sooner the TH line fails...the sooner the return of DC Universe. I could go into a long list of reasons why TH is not appealing to me, but I see no reason to insult those that like this line. However, I believe there are quite a few people, like myself, that are not exactly "rooting" for this line. I'll go ahead and apologize now for overly candid comments that may rub some the wrong way.....we all have asses and opinions.

Nah, we will never se DCU back, and if they did, it would just because back to variants of Batman, Superman, and Hal Jordan.

Even if the Total Heroes line fails, or is just killed by Mattel for seemingly no reason (like the other post-DCUC lines), I don't see them ever returning to the DCUC style of figure. It wouldn't even surprise me if they stopped producing 6" figures all together if the TH line failed.

Which is why I'm hoping that both of their current lines continue on for a while. If nothing else, it might help boost their confidence in the franchise as a whole if their efforts are succesfull. Though either way, I don't think they'll ever return to making collector-oriented 6" figures. Not for the forseable future anyways.
