The Big Bang Theory is one of, if not the most popular sitcom on air right now, and it's especially popular with the geek crowd.
And seriously... WHY IS NO ONE MAKING BBT FIGURES YET?!?
Neca? DC Direct? ANYONE?
Why is this not a reality?
A show where all the main cast are geeky toy collectors and comic book fans, and no one has tried to get the lisence to make figures yet?

Come on DCD! Get this and you can chock them full of DC references!

Wave 1-
Leonard: Comes with a stack of comics, Tai Food container, and his traditional chair.
Sheldon: Comes with a "Limited Edition Green Lantern lantern", Tai Food Container, and a piece to a C&C Sofa. Specifically, his spot.
Penny: comes with a bag of Tai Food, and her traditional chair.

Wave 2-
Raj: Comes with clip on giant green fists (That can be worn by other figures, specifically Sheldon), a Tai Food container, and a piece to the C&C Sofa.
Howard: Comes with a robotic arm, Tai Food Container, and the final C&C Sofa piece.
Bernadette: Comes with the Coffee table

Wave 3-
Amy: Comes with Shelbot, Sheldon's remote controlled avatar
Waitress Penny: Comes with serving tray, food items, and menus
Priya

Wave 4- The Enemies of Sheldon
Barry Kripke: Comes with his fighting robot, the "Kwipke Kwippwuh"
WHEATON!!!!
Leslie Winkle

SDCC Exclusive-
Sheldon as The Flash (You must scream "ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM!" yourself)

I don't know what accessories to put with the ones I didn't give any to. I think it would be fun to do more set pieces, maybe a chalkboard.

Well, I wasn't going to, but then I realized there would be no justice in this world or the next, if Sheldon didn't come with his spot, lol.
That gave me the idea for the C&C Sofa, which inspired the set piece idea. So it basically broke itself down.
Then I realized it wouldn't be complete without cartons of tai food, lol.

There's just something weird about collecting figures of collectors. It's almost surreal and something that I just can't find the word for(meta maybe? I dunno, it hurts my head trying to think about this "Collecting collectors who collect and included a collect n connect, so you can collect while you collect").

It's just too much that for them to not do this. At the same time BBT is so representative of the different stereotypes. We are the various characters anyway or at least share elements of them.

I KNOW, RIGHT?!?

And I would kill to have a box set of all four of them dressed as Catwoman, Batgirl, Supergirl, and Wonderwoman. That would just be too hilarious.

Yah. I'm a wierd combination of all four of them. (Not so much Howard)
My mom was talking to my grandmother (while I was driving them) and she brought up the "How many sides does a stopsign have" question for reasons I don't remember.
Without even thinking about it, I blurted out "Two. A stop sign is basically a two dimensional pbject existing in a three dimentional space. Therefor, it has two sides. Front and back. You are probably better off asking "how many edges" or "corners" a stopsign has."
And then I thought... "Holy shit, when did I start channeling Sheldon?"

I'm also shocked that Howard is not an avid Transformer fan, given his love of Robots and engineering.

This is what i argued with my girlfriend about one night because she just didn't get why I thought he should be all in to collecting transformers ... Howard likes space and mechanical stuff.. that's everything to do with transformers she had no clue

I know. On top of that, transformers is the hottest scifi/nerd franchise, right now.
You'd think at least one of them would be at least a mild collector. Or at least there would be some references to it. (I think someone mentioned either decepticons, or Optimus Prime... once.)
Even Psych has a fair few TF references.

I know that since TF is so much more multi-generational than other properties, that there really are no particular scenes they can call out, like Star Trek or Star Wars... they can certainly make faction, character, series, or fandom references.

Maybe there are leagal issues.

This is a great idea!! But BBT makes me sad because sooooooooo many people miss all those classic geek references, the first time i heard......WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAATTTTOOONN!! ! I laughed so hard i nearly broke myself, whilst my bemused GF looked on confused, and by the time i had explained its background,i could see she just didnt find it amusing..............though she does love BBT regardless!!!

Besides the legal reasons you pointed out, though they do make off handed references occasionally as you pointed out...

The reason is because the TF brand as it is in media at least breaks most laws of engineering and physics outright. Size shifting, mass displacement, among many other issues. They would have been mostly exposed to G1 considering the ages.

Now the toys on the other hand do have a lot of engineering going on, but these are the kinds of geeks that need the media itself to sell them on wanting the physical world representation.

The most we'll probably get is an occasional Gen 1 reference and the 86 TFTM. Which I'm entirely fine with tbh. Part of that probably also stems from Chuck Lorre's lack of knowledge about that fandom in particular so it's just best to steer clear or stick to the obvious surface stuff. Plus it'd be odd if they dove into anything after beast wars/machines. I'm also surprised by the lack of Voltron remarks, and most japanese or asian properties. Very little to no anime is ever mentioned let alone any japanese live action of any kind. Not even the cult gaming classic parasite eve that was based on a japanese horror novel which the book had a movie adaption. Very little to none of the cult gaming classics other than the obvious or extremely old school. Nothing out of the psx/saturn+ era ever seems to be mentioned. Only really the obvious ones like GTA, Red Dead Redemption, and Halo seem like they get mentioned for the polygonal eras. I'm really shocked at the lack of Metroid, Haloid, Dead Fantasy, and Red vs Blue references for these being geeks and all too. Little to no web series ever get mentioned. You'd think stuff like Magic Tech Support or Panics would at least get an off handed joke or reference too. Seriously, why isn't Alma giving them nightmares?

These are mostly DC geeks anyway with only a hint of the occasional Marvel.
TF might get more representation if that was swapped since at one point they did have a heavy Marvel presence. As it is, these geeks are mostly DC and high fantasy(LOTR, WoW, etc) as opposed to scifi fantasy outside of the classics like The Time Machine, Space 2001, Metropolis, tron, and Star Trek. Star Wars is heavy on both though and also geek constant like star trek and BSG(bsg which also merges high fantasy and robotics). They just seem to steer clear of the properties that were designed initially solely to push merchandise. So very little TF, GI Joe, Jem, Gobots, He-man, etc. though they do get the offhanded remark now and again.

I really dig how they dive deep into the well of cult classic cinema randomly though. Sometimes they bring up or reference movies I haven't seen in ages.
But yeah, they really are lacking on many geek areas in general besides just TF.

Great show.

I'd probably buy a lineup of the five core characters + a Bawwy figure. Considering that this show is geared towards nerds, it seems like a toy line would be a slam dunk.

"See a Penny, pick her up, and all the day you'll have good luck."

Definitely wouldn't want figures of these characters, but there is a bobble head of Sheldon and Howard along with a few items related to the show available at Entertainment Earth.

Well, that's *exactly* how Leonard Nemoy would be if he ever appeared in the show in order for Sheldon to meet him. Aged.
