LOL, okay, so I got these two figures in the mail today from Ludo (Thanks again, dude!) and decided to do a miniature match up utilizing Wave 5. I realize WWE isn't a regularly discussed line on here but it's still a Mattel toyline and I see a shit ton of Gundam and Macross shit on here and I don't even know half the companies that make that stuff anyway. I used a camcorder to capture stills so the images are fuzzy, I apologize. Have fun!

Bam Bam Bigelow!

The agile big man does his trademark cartwheel!

Look at the kisser on the Beast from the East!

Rick "the Model" Martel

YES! He is a model!

Bam Bam has seen enough of his antics.

Rick gives Bam Bam a whiff of "Arrogance"!

Bigelow's eyes burn from the stinky perfume...

Rick locks in the Quebec Crab!

Bam Bam flies off the top rope with his flying headbutt!!

1... 2... 3!!! Bam Bam is victorious!!!

"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Akeem the African Dream

Akeem the African Dream busts a move!

Akeem proudly displays his African heritage on his ring attire...

"The Macho Man" Randy Savage

Randy Savage wants Akeem!

Savage gets Akeem in a sleeper!

Akeem bodyslams Savage like a ragdoll!

Akeem misses his patented 747 Splash!

Macho Man ascends to the top turnbuckle!

Savage soars off the top rope with his Flying Elbow Smash!

Savage connects with Akeem's head!!

1... 2... 3!!! Ooooh yeeeah!!! The Macho Madness puts and end to the African Dream!!! R.I.P 1952-2011 "Macho Man" Randy Savage

Kinda random but I love it. I was going to get the defining moments Savage figure but I think this one looks more 'classic' and is like 8 bucks cheaper I'll have to pick this one up. Now Savage & Bammer need to fight for the title like it was a tournament or something

Yeah, only the Defining Moments version of Randy Savage is available here in Canada, so I had get it from a fellow Arker from the US. I've got every figure up to this wave from the older eras. I skipped over Stonecold and the Rock since they didn't fit the era. I love the articulation on these guys. Also love the fact that they all come with their trademark accessories which are all removable.

The old school names are a great throwback to the LJN rubber statue-like figures of the 80s and the spring loaded action figures that Hasbro did in the late 80s, early 90s, but the new articulation make these a definite win and must have for any vintage wrestling fan.

I think grown men watching wrestling is a little silly (go watch UFC/MMA) but I have to admit that these pictures are awesome. I used to watch wrestling when I was a kid and have been tempted to pick up these newer toys based off of the older wrestelers that I remember from back in the day. Post more matches when you can.

Awesome pics man. These figures are great!!!! I was trying to stay away from them, but I bought Road Warrior Animal, Akeem and Ultimate Warrior. Now I'm eyeing a couple others. Damn it!!! I was a HUGE WWF fan back in the day and these figures are definitely the best wrestling figures ever made. Hands down.

Keep 'em coming chris.

Love it! I don't collect these, but there wasn't much I cared about more than the WWF back in the 80's-early 90's. I probably had almost every one of those big rubber figures and the ring back in the day.

I remember the month or two long build up to Bam Bam's introduction. I believe he was "managed" by Jimmy Valentine.. another great character.

^ Yeah, so many great characters back then. And those big rubber LJN figures were great! I had so many of them. And you could really hurt somebody with those things. Me and my brother used to throw them at each other. lol. I even had Miss Elizabeth (she was so fine, RIP) and I thought it was naughty how you could take her skirt off.

Miss Liz was a must have. You couldn't walk Macho Man into the ring with out her. I can't remember the dress, but I'm sure I did plenty of weird things with her. For some reason my MASK guys would always take the MASK chicks to Boulder Hill for a little action figure hanky panky. Those little pervs.

Oh man. Awesome pics!! I don't know if it's because I'm not a kid any more or what. But wrestling has really lost it's edge. Especially since it's banned a a lot of stuff like the pile driver so kids won't imitate it.

Yeah, I think wrestling kind of died for me sometime around early 2000 which was around when WWF bought WCW at which point I kind of stopped giving a damn (which is good because I heard they handled the whole WWF vs WCW thing very poorly). The height of my interest was definitely during the 80s, early 90s with favourites being Ted Dibiase and Irwin R Schyster's Money Incorporated, "the Macho Man" Randy Savage, Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat, "the Hitman" Bret Hart, the Fabulous Roujeaus, the Road Warriors and of course DEMOLITION!

Jakks had their WWE Classics collection years ago which were "ok" but lacked rotation at the thighs and when you're talking about wrestling figures, you need the 29 PoA minimum. Last year, I saw Mattel's Wave 2 at Zellers and after a lot of back and forth, ended up ordering Waves 1, 2 and 3 (minus Stonecold and the Rock). I was not disappointed as these were some of the BEST figure investments I've ever made. Later, I got Wave 4 and the TRU tag team exclusives.

The packaging is some of the nicest I've seen with fantastic artwork, the figure sculpts look outstanding with separate knee and elbow pad pieces which cover the joints but do not restrict movement, great articulation and the accessories are amazing. Terry Funk comes with a branding iron, poncho, chaps and a cowboy hat and Hawk and Animal came with removable spiked shoulder and wrist gauntlets. Way cool.

Yeah, they were promoting him as a monster heel with bad guy managers fighting over his contract, but it was Sir Oliver Humperdink who ended up getting it and Bam Bam entered WWF as a good guy.

Cool pics! That head sculpt on Martel is ace, it just oozes arrogance. You should post more pics in the wrestling thread.

lol,.. good memory. That stupid shit was so damn entertaining back in the day. And they used to travel non-stop, which is one reason I think it's lost it's luster over the years. They were in town (which would be the Sat morning airings) monthly and every match would be something like The Million Dollar Man vs. Ernie Smith (random shlub), with one hald decent main event of Hogan vs. someone. Oh, those were the days.

Yeah, back in the day, if they didn't have a themesong, you knew they were deadmeat.

Hey folks. It's been a while but Wrasslemania is back with more classic bonecrunching wrestling action taken on my cellphone camera. LOL. Actually it kind of gives it a vintage toy quality which is pretty cool! Enjoy.

Axe and Smash, the Demolition! What an intimidating duo indeed!

The Masks come off!

And their opponents... Road Warrior Hawk, Road Warrior Animal, the Legion of Doom!

LOD shows no fear for their opponents!

The action spills to the outside! Hawk with a lariat on Axe.

Axe responds, smashing Hawk's head into the steel post.

The action returns to the ring, Axe introduces Hawk to Smash's boot!

Oh no! They're setting him up for the Decapitation!

Animal charges in for the rescue!

Smash soars off the top rope for a flying body press but Animal catches him in mid-flight!

Animal with the powerslam!

Axe is dumped to the outside!

Animal sets Smash up for the Doomsday Device!

Hawk takes off with a flying lariat!

The pin is made! Nice try Axe, but Animal has a present for you! 1... 2... 3!!! LOD is victorious! They snack on danger... DINE ON DEATH!!! Ooooooooohhhhh what a rush!!!

Great pics man! LOD would definitely take this fight. What ring are you using again? That thing looks super official.

Thanks Ludo. It's the Jakks WWE Wrestlemania 2 Official Scale Ring. The thing is HUUUGE and is officially to scale with these 6 inch figures. I originally wanted the Wrestlemania Scale Ring because it came with the corner steps but then I decided on Wrestlemania 2 instead because it also came with a scale steel cage with working door (but it came with side ring steps instead). Mattel was going to do one that came with Andre the Giant, but they cancelled it, so thank goodness I got this version. I'm eagerly awaiting the next wave. As usual, the figures aren't available here. Still hoping to get my hands on Papa Shango.

Yeah it's crazy. He's part of the regular line and available in store. Too bad the Legends line is going to be available only through Matty from this point on. :|

Yeah, always been a huge fan of the Road Warriors. A lot of wrestlers were afraid to work with them because they were so stiff in the ring. Would be cool if Mattel did the Dudleyz but I don't know if/when that would happen. Just as well since I'm trying to stick to collecting the WWF era only or at least from the Hart Foundation/USA feud and earlier. LOL.
