Well first of all I'm glad to be back in the forums here because before school started for me this year, I have experienced burnout. I know it happens to all of us whereas bills, clothes, food etc. might come in the way so feel free to post any stories on here about any time you have lost your drive to collect & how you found it back.

I lose my drive when I have a vacation, or more than just a few days off, and then I go back to work and get stressed out of my mind and start playing with toys.

..it's a bit of a stress reliever for me.

Hmm I don't really go through a burnout per se. More like a time out. I change my hobbies between Cars and collecting toys pretty often over the years. Where one take the chunk of my wallet. I refuse to support both at once. I do go through a lot of dry spells as to waiting for the next wave to hit. and that is what really turns me off.

I sorta do the same thing.. im a ebayholic, so Im always looking for toy and car things on there. every so often I find something cool I can add to my car, and when that happens I tend to buy more than one thing. then my collecting suffers. but then vice versa, I find toys on there, buy a whole bunch.. then something happens to my car, now broke from buying toys, I have to shell out more to fix my car... lol

waiting for the next wave ticks me off as well.. since here in canada, we receive everything like a month later than the states. I get to see all you guys (and girls, if any :P) posting pics on stuff I haven't got my hands on yet..

thats my 2 cents.

Nah, never really feel that way. There's always SOMETHING I can track down that I want. In between the lulls of waves

I burn out when I stop finding things, and the figures I want are all on ebay for like a million bucks. Then I take a few months to focus more on art n stuff.

Star Wars is a dangerous thing to collect. There are too many figures! Clone Wars got me off of it.

I lost the drive to collect freshman year in High School because I decided I was too old to play with toys.

Shortly after that I discovered a new toy that was even funner to play with; REAL LIVE GIRLS!

About five years after that I was drooling over some Jakks wrestling action figures, the ones with bone crunching action.

I asked my GF at the time if she would break up with me if I got some. She said that she wouldn't and I've been collecting since.

She did break up with me in case you're keeping score.

I definitely start to lose interest depending on what's going on in my life. When I'm dating, I kind of stop giving a rats ass about collecting at first and then I start to "normalize" into the relationship and start collecting again if something interests me. It's just at the beginning, the girl I'm dating gets all of my attention and then not so much. LOL. I'm a big fan of toys right now but it seems to be toys and video games and girls in terms of leisure in a rotation, seldom do toys and gaming intersect, but at times, the girl I'm dating may be into toys/cartoons and/or video games.

Since this is in the Marvel section, I have to say that I'm starting to lose interest in Marvel Universe. It's not even interesting me anymore. Somebody save me.

I thought I was burned out of Transformers, because there is almost absolutely nothing that excites me since Animated ended. Even this year's animated themed Botcon left me a bit underwhelmed.
The comics don't excite me. I can't get into Prime.

However, if I get talking about Beast Wars, or find myself looking through BBTS Beast era sections, Focusing on my Classics G2 collection, or the talk about resurrecting the old Marvel Comics TF series... then I start feeling that excitement return. I don't think anymore that I'm burned out on Transformers.
Between IDW's post AHM trainwreck, the near exclusive focus on the movies, and Prime... I'm burned out on bad transformers.

As for the thread, it should probably be places somewhere more generic than the marvel toys.

I wouldn't ever say I get "burnt out" of collecting, but I do enjoy the breaks in waves or waves that I don't want too many of the figures. It just gives my wallet a break. I usually want 1-3 figures in each wave. And that's good for me. It kills me when I want all 6. At $7-8 per figure, it hurts.

Haha, I've gotta dump some of my collection, actually. I've got a huge classic NES library and SNES, N64, Intellivision, Sega Genesis, Gameboy, Neo Geo Pocket, etc. It's a waste. I don't play them and they don't have much in the way of display value for me. They're basically rotting in boxes right now.

I've got next to every MU right now including the Guardians 3 pack and the recent 2 comic packs. Do you have any MOTUC or DCUC?

I get overwhelmed with the amount figures go for and the fact they go for huge money on ebay and can't find retail round here, and a lot of us are completists and want them all, so not finding anything but the same shit on local pegs week after week gets frustating for sure. An there's times where I question it all and contimplating selling them all, but I just realize that years later I'll end up wanting them back and start rebuying which will cost me even more, Happened with all my toys as a child, got bored of them after the years, sold em off, now later on wish I had them.
