It would appear that even Hasbro is confused on which to use. I was dusting today and noticed that it's Doc Samson on the package and Doc Sampson on the display stand. Not sure if this has already been posted, sorry if it has.

It's always been spelled "Samson" in the comics as far as I can remember.

Ya, your not the only 1 that noticed, I picked him up less then a month ago and debated on opening thinking it maybe a defect, but it's just hasbro, being hasbro.

It's supposed to be samson, after the biblical character with the hair.

Not sure how they could have made that mistake on the stand, so maybe it was a fluke. No clue how common it is.

Mine says Doc Sampson on the base. I never thought to check to see if any of them were spelled right at the store. Does anyone have a correctly spelled base?

All the Doc's that I've seen in the wild had the stand spelled Sampson, EPIC Fail on Hasbro's part.

Good spot James, haha, didnt even notice this. I can't believe that such a large company made such a blatant mistake.

Well for giggles and grins I sent an email to hasbro with the picture pointing this out. Also did a quick look over on ebay of several of the Samson figures over there and they all have the spelling mistake, lol. Will let you all know if I hear anything back from them.

I wonder if Hasbro will bother to correct it for future runs of the toy. For some reason, I don't see it happening any time soon.

I think the issue for me/ original poster was the figure base says Doc Sampson, But the actual name on the packaging is spelled Doc Samson. That's the way it was for me, the "P" was dropped on the packing but added on the base, not sure if that makes it an error figure or they all made them that way.

Quite a few Doc Samsons crossed my path in St. Louis recently, and they're not going to sell anytime soon. I wouldn't waste your money online to buy them, because (as it was mentioned by other members) this appears to be an error on all of the figures. That said, if you find one with a decent paint app in person, go ahead and pick it up. And yes, the ones that I've seen around here have the same error.
