Hello Everyone! I bought this Cowboy Mask prototype many years ago just because he looked so cool on Ebay. I have since found out that he is from a set that got cancelled when the Animated Show was cancelled.

(Bear in mind that I live in the UK - I never saw the cartoon anyway, so I am going on hearsay - forgive me if my info is incorrect!)

Anyways... I have been trying to find out more about this range for ages, and since there are so many experts on Toyark I thought it would be the best place for me to post my requests.

Firstly, I would LOVE to see what the FIRST series of figures looked like - never saw them over here!

Secondly, no matter how much I search, I can't find ANY other examples of prototypes from the cancelled series apart from the Cowboy Mask. (And, even though I say it myself, none are a patch on my particular example!) Were other figures in the pipeline for this set? I would really like to see them, just to satisfy my own curiosity!

By the way, I eventually got mine graded just to protect the figure. This would have been any kids favourite toy, 'cos when you spin the cog on his back his hat flips up and a six-gun pops out of his head - way cool! Unfortunately, no visitors (I'm talking adults here!) could resist constantly playing with it - hence the big plastic case!

That is an interesting piece. I sent you a message about some places you might be able to find more answers.

Did this series EVER EXIST?

I mean, all is have is a prototype. Is it possible that this is all FAKED?

I saw the Jim Carey Movie - but I have never seen a Mask Cartoon.
I KNOW. Is this just a scam? Why would anyone go to the trouble of producing a prototype toy for a non-existent toy-line?

Perhaps I am expecting too much info without giving any payback. I will surf the rest of the site and see if I can offer any feedback. That's all I can do.

I don't think anyone is holding it against you for being new. Most of will help if we're able to, it just might take some time for the right person to see your post.

I do remember a cartoon of The Mask, but I was VERY young at the time and my memory isn't quite clear. Did a quick google image search just now and it looks like the toyline for it was made up of quite a few reissues/re-releases of the movie toys - which I know for a fact I had at least a couple.

Figure Realm has a gallery for the toyline, though, where you can see at least some of them. I have no idea how comprehensive it is. I can't find anything about the canceled ones, so I can't help there.

Hope this was useful!

Sorry if I sounded short - I don't know if you realize just how frustrating it is to get news of REALLY COOL toys that are available in the States - but they never get released over here!

That is the main reason I started on eBay all those years ago. (It works the other way round as well, sometimes. I bought a bunch of Superman Animated figures from s discount shop a few years back. Turns out that they were the THIRD series in the range, that was never actually released in the States.)

I just bought them 'cos they were dead cheap and looked really cool. Go figure...

On your profile, if you fill in an eBay handle, it auto-generates that link beside your posts.

And yes, the cartoon did exist. Stanley/Mask was voiced by Rob Paulsen (Raphael from TMNT). Don't recall much else about it though; just came and went like so many in the 1990s. There was also a SuperNES game out around the same time.

Correct. Nixonbros, if you don't want that banner appearing under your Toyark name, just remove your Ebay info from the field in your profile settings.

As for that "Mask" toy, I don't recall seeing that particular one released in stores. But it could just be my memory as that would have been around the time I was fading out of the toy collecting hobby (2000's Car Robots/R.I.D. brought me back full-force).

Cheers Chaps! I don't really have that much stuff that I am willing to offer on eBay - you know how it is.

(I AM offering a UKG90 graded DROIDS R2-D2 at the moment, but I don't honestly expect to get much response! (I would prefer to keep him than accept less than he's worth!) But I may well remove the link as you suggest - don't want to waste anyone's time.

Anyway, I am gonna try a few more sites that kind folks have mentioned to me about the Mask figure - I REALLY want to get to the bottom (He-He - Bottom!) of this!

Many thanks!
