David Silva of Creative Beast Studios has done work for McFarlane and NECA in the past, and is now Kickstarting a line of 1/6 scale dinosaur action figures. The first line is various raptor species. Like I said, they're 1/6 scale, but can work 1/12 in "Jurassic Park scale" (the raptors in JP are actually oversized in comparison to the actual animal). They're really beautiful figures, with a possibility of up to 10 total if stretch goals get met. Check it out:

I went to high school with David Silva! I remember his comic book inspired pages often being in the art display case. He's worked on some of my favorite toys, too. What a small world.

And what an awesome project. Absolutely pledging. (Ceratopsians, please) Last edited by Brownfinger; 04-27-2016 at 05:32 PM.. |

wow! those things are unbelievably awesome.. i'd kill for an entire line of dinosaurs that were that articulated. i've always felt that dinosaurs as toys were ridiculously underutilized. i mean, there's not a single line of collector level articulated dinosaurs.. it sucks. i mean, most boys, when they're kids LOVE dinosaurs. i don't understand why the only things we get these days are cheap immovable figures, crappy gimmicky hasbro figures, or expensive static statues.

anyways, in a perfect world.. i'd have a collection of jurassic park looking dinosaurs, with their real life counterparts displayed next to them. i think that'd look awesome. |

As soon as I saw these I jumped on them. I'm not even a dinosaur fan in general, but these are gorgeous.

Just pledged for the velociraptor. I wish I could pledge $100 to get all three.. But I just can't swing that right now with so many other things out there.. It's a great deal though. I really hope the goal is reached. This hobby REALLY needs figures like these.

I would still love to see a Jurassic mark style raptor to display with their real version.

I hope that this takes off and they're able to expand to more dinosaurs. |

Excellent! I will buy two of each for sure. I don't know whether it's good or bad but this year we get too many cool figures and with not so good budget choosing what to buy puts me in difficult situation.

Dave says he'll be revealing the first stretch goal figure this weekend, though it's not clear if he's done any sculpt work on it yet or is just revealing which species it will be. Either way, can't wait. I really love how he's been basing the color schemes on different bird species.

So there is now package art for two stretch goal figures up on the Kickstarter site, as well as an in-progress look at the head sculpt for the first. Both look fantastic, check 'em out!

Just pledged $35 for the Velociraptor. Hoping a sneak-appearance of a Deinonychus, but will "settle" for Dromaeosaurus if they get the stretch.

For future 1/6th scale dinos... would love Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, and a labrador-sized T. Rex. I think a 1/6 scale titanosaur is just too much to hope for, tho...

Me too... But would be huge.. 24 to 29 ft long triceratops in a 1/6 scale would be almost 5 ft long. A 45ft long female T. Rex would be 7ft long at 1/6 scale.

not fun? sure. more affordable/collector friendly? yes. lol.

i'd love a 1/12 tyrannosaurus rex. that would be awesome. though, as much as i like these raptors being accurately feathered.. a feathered t-rex is still a little too out there for me at the moment. i'm not sure if scientists really know how many feathers the t-rex had. a 1/6 utahraptor would be cool.. but i think that'd probably be the size of a 1/12 t-rex. anyways.. i love the kickstarter exclusive blue raptor.. he's definitely going to be the leader of the two velociraptors i've already pledged for.. something tells me i'm going to wind up with six of these things at least. some of those silhouettes just look badass.. i can't wait for them to be revealed. |

A larger tyrannosaurid, closely related to Tarbosaurus and rex, shows feather-like quills along the top of the head and tail, but nothing on the back or leg. front arms were missing, so it is unknown if it had wings or scaley arms.

Great stuff, all around. A small part in my brain wants to throw a saddle and some plastic armor onto at least one of these raptors for my figures to ride around on. Either way, I'm glad they're happening. |
