Wait... isn't that just an upscaled version of the Marvel Legends Infinite Series Spider-Man from the Hobgoblin wave? Overall sculpt looks the same, the half-unmasked smiling face is exactly the same. Hell, even the red pins that clash horribly with the blue on the inside of his arms are still there.

Only the torso articulation is new/better.

It's new. There's wrinkles in the suit that wasn't there before. Plus the headsculpt has bigger eyes.

I'm down for a couple of these. Not sure I wanna dig into a full range of 50 dollar guys in a scale I don't collect normally. But, having a beefy set of the A list will be nice.

Finally some news. I'm totally down for this dude. Can't wait. It would be nice for them to do all or most of the major players like this,

I had no idea why this was a $50 before I saw the 12" scale. FYI the story it self has a typo saying 3 hands instead of heads.

What is Hasbro's problem with having several lines of figures of different scales that have the same frigging name? At NYCC last year at the Star Wars Hasbro panel someone brought that up in the Q&A about having a 3.75" line and the 6" black series line and the confusion it can cause, especially in online shopping.

The Hasbro guy legitimately said no one had thought about that and thanks for bringing it up. Like really? That didn't cross anyone's mind?

Wow, twice the height, more than twice the cost, and they STILL can't match the color of the pins to the color of the arms. Thank you for making this an easy pass Hasbro.

Personally, I'd rather see Hasbro step up the quality of their 6" figures instead of putting out crappy 12" figures. Take a lesson from SH Figuarts, Mezco, Figma, Revoltech, and others who are making premium 6" figures.

Show me someone other than Spider-Man and I may show some interest. Sorry it looks fine but I'm just so Spider-Maned out these days.

Larger scale Legends-style figures never appealed to me when Toy Biz tried it, nor when Hasbro tried it the first time (with their Unleashed line), and this attempt is no exception.
However, I would love to see a down-scaled version of that Peter Parker headsculpt thrown in with a 6" Legends Spidey figure at some point in the near future!

Remember that Hasbro's main base audience are kids and not the adults who also buy toys. When Hasbro goes to the drawing board they don't have people old enough to smoke and drink with man-caves full of action figures set as their top priority, they're probably thinking about the kids and teens who actually want to play with their product and that's who they're selling it to.

A $50 figure of this size isn't aimed at kids. They have plenty of Star Wars 18-24" Star Wars figures for half the price of this one with less articulation and detail.

I was referring to the 6" scale since it's what Englishw was talking about.

I'd guess Hasbro had these 12" Legends made with teens in mind and with some recognition of the adult community but it's still clear that this is not a detailed "for display only" piece so they definitely made it with some play in mind and not as a "this is for the collectors only" decision. It still says ages 4+ on the box so it's kid safe/aimed, albeit slightly older kids with more toy budget.

I highly doubt that Hasbro created this with teenagers in mind. These are aimed at adult collectors all the way. Hasbro hinted as such with the upcoming higher end props also under the Marvel Legends banner. I'd like to believe that Hasbro is not so dense to believe that teenagers are their core audience for these, because while I'm no marketing genius, even I know that if you put 50 bucks in the hands of a teenager these days, chances are that they're coming home with the newest video game over a giant sized action figure.

These are aimed at collectors. That said...for the price, I wish Hasbro would have done a better job. I know that I shouldn't look at things with rose colored glasses, but ToyBiz put out far superior 12 inch figures in terms of sculpt, articulation, and paint apps for less than half what Hasbro wants for this Spidey. I'm sure it will be a decent figure, and I am sure it will fill a void in some adult collector's collection, but at that price, I would rather look into something more worth my change from one of the other companies that are simply trying harder.

Maybe I've just become so used to expecting much more detail from something aimed at the older crowd. It's like how Mattel calls a lot of their stuff "adult collector" yet the product itself is far from the level of actual collectibles companies. Hasbro and Mattel can say it's an adult collector style figure but the actual quality of the toy will always be tailored to be approachable and playable for kids because that's just how they do things. I guess the game plan on these was market them for adults but make them playable enough for kids too. If they were going for a strictly collectible figure then it wouldn't still need to be accessible to kids 4 and up, they could've moved to 13+ and added more collector themed aspects.

Yeah at this price I'd expect a hell of a lot more. If it's gonna be a little over twice as much for essentially a blimp up of the 6" figure with some new articulation then it should come with more accessories or far better paint applications than this. They couldn't include the slice of pizza from the 6" one? Or how about a camera or something Daily Bugle oriented? Not even a web piece for those web-shooting hands? Unless Spider-Man is someone's absolute favorite hero of all time then $50 for this seems too much when the 6" one is equally good and has pizza.

Now watch them just do Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America and then kill the line. Nah I hope they do get around to those big guys because you could throw them in with either 4" or 6" scale and it would work.

Including size-changers in the character selection would definitely help this line, though I agree the chosen characters will probably be from a strict A-list selection. Oh well, hopefully Black Widow will make the cut.

I would like if the 3.75" line would go back to the quality we had like 5 years ago. This 12" stuff will be an easy pass for me unless it's compatible with the 3.75" figures like a sentinel or giantman or living tribunal or stuff like that.

That would be awesome, especially with the movie coming out. I'd love to see a fin fang foom, old school groot from Planet X, or giganto too.
