Eaglemoss Star Trek Starships XL Edition Details - The Toyark - News

Quote:
Created in response to fan demand, each ship is approximately twice as large as the starships featured
in Eaglemoss’ more than 100-vessel strong Official Star Trek Starships Collection. Offering the ultimate
in detail and craftsmanship, every XL Edition has gone through extensive reference study and has been
reproduced under the supervision of Star Trek expert Ben Robinson to ensure pinpoint accuracy.

Interesting. I wonder how well these will sell compared to the first line of ships. I can't imagine they'll have as bi of a variety for this line.

Also, the images and written description for them seem to disagree. It's said that the Enterprise-D is the first issue, but then the images say that the TOS Enterprise is the first.

Also, not a criticism of the person who wrote the stuff for the announcement, but I got a little chuckle out of the line that says the Enterprise-E was featured prominantly in the first three TNG movies.

Haha, good point! I've always been more of a fan of the last 3 TNG-Featured films myself :P

To anyone that has collected the previous line of ships that Eaglemoss has put out, from the limited look we get from these photos, how does the detail stand up compared to their smaller versions? I just hope they didnt cut back on some detail to make up for the double'd size...

I don't own any myself, but a friend of mine collects them and I've seen several of them in-person. Just based on these preview images I would say they have at least the same amount of detailing to them, probably more. They're double the size, but they're also double the price.

With DST not currently planning on doing any ships for Star Trek Discovery, I'm kinda hoping we get a Discovery in this line. Wouldn't be as big or have the electronics of a theoretical DST Discovery, but it'd be our closest option to that.

Are these in scale with each other?

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I was trying my best to compare the photos and they seem pretty on par. I wasn't sure how the pricing compared. They have my attention, and I've always wanted to start collecting the various Star Trek ships. I may try 1, from the first few that are released. It's nice you can cancel at any time and not get locked in for like a year or something crazy like that. We shall see...

Nah, they're definitely not in scale. The Enterprise NCC-1701D from The Next Generation is like twice the size of the original NCC-1701 from the Original Series.

Should have done this in the first place. These always looked nice but too small. What is the quality like on these.

The only complaint collectors have on these Federation starships are misaligned decals of the windows.

The quality of the small ships has steadily gotten worse. While the larger size should offer Eaglemoss the opportunity to improve accuracy and quality, I'm just not seeing it. You'd be better off finding an electronic DST ship.
