Hey guys, just wondering what everyone considers the essential Masters of the Universe Collection. Basically, just the must haves for a set to feel complete where as everything else would just be fluff. In my mind, it's:

Heroes
He-man
Orko
Man-At-Arms
Teela
Battlecat

In my mind, they are the most prominent villains:
Eternian Villains
Skeletor
Evil Lyn
Merman
Beastman
Tri Klops
Trap Jaw

Snakemen
King Hsss

Evil Horde
Hordak
Grizzlor
Leech

Etherian Heroes
She-Ra
Swiftwind
Bow?

Thoughts?

I would add the Sorceress and Merman. The Sorceress has been in almost every episode of the classic cartoon (or has been, if you count opening credits). She'll be a definite must-have, if there ever was to be even the most basic of Grayskull displays.

Merman, even though he's not an every episode villain, is so unique, in both look and voice, that he really should be counted as a "must have". No one on this board, who bought the figure, HASN'T gargled in the Merman voice when looking at the toy, "Ighghgh'll geghghght youghghghgh, Heeghghghgh-Manghghghgh!"

Also, I wouldn't consider Snake Men to be "Must Haves". The snake men played an important role in the 20xx series, but other than a glimpse or two in the She-Ra, I don't think they appeared at all in the 80's series.

As for the Horde, Catra is a must have, since up until the cartoon came out, Catra was to be She-Ra's main villain. Shadow weaver maybe, but I don't think she's essential. Grizzlor is just a silly looking toy. Sorry.

I don't know if I'd count Bow as a must have. He really didn't do all that much. She-Ra relied less on supporting cast than He-Man did.

Both of you guys have the right ideas. But I think I'd replace Leech and Grizzlor with a Horde Trooper and knock off Swiftwind and Bow.

Mer Man definetly needs to be added to the list - Also Faker, and if he ever gets made, RaM Man!

If it's in this picture it's essential. Anything beyond these characters is bonus collecting.

Rio-Blast, Clamp Champ, Ninjor, and Dragstor are essential to my collection of MOTUC.

Really? Screech? Fisto? Jitsu? Zodac? BuzzOff? Man-E-Faces? "Essentials" usually means the core characters no collection should be without, or the main characters. I think the OP hit most of them right on the head.

No love for Stinkor? I don't know about anyone else, but I'll happily pass on all of those.

D-oh, how could I forget Merman? Of course.

Yeah but this is more like a list of essential figures that already exist. Otherwise Mantenna, Modulok and Kobra Khan would be on that list, too.

That dude isn't essential to a MOTUC Collection. He only appeared in the one movie. lol.

I was a big fan of the movie for some reason as a kid. My house hold was so weird we never saw Star Wars but saw the Ewoks movies.

Movie was great. Chelsea Field and Courtney Cox were hot. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind a MOTU Classics Chelsea Field inspired Teela.

That would be cool or a Dolph He-man, I noticed that He-man in disguise includes the key from the film. Pretty sweet addition.

I keep thinking that Ram Man should also be added to an essential list. He played a pretty significant role in the show. Stratos too for that matter.

I still watch it today on DVD. Great movie. Wish they would have made that sequel that they lead up to after the credits rolled.
