so what is different about these from the 6" black figures? They look the same and look to have articulation. Do they just have some metal instead of plastic/rubber?

They will have, likely, a little less articulation and will have diecast metal pieces. Also, they should be a hair taller than Black Series figures.

Well it's die-cast, metal doesn't agree with articulation very well.

I only picked up Kylo Ren & Phasma because of the screw holes. Some of the proportions look off on some figures as well. Really wanted to pick up a vehicle or two, but they were out.

$6 more for some die-cast parts and less articulation? No thanks. Well maybe it looks cool on the Stormtroopers, but why human characters? It adds nothing to them.

One observation stands out for me. Rey's face looks better here than in the Black Series. I'm inclined to wait for a re-release to see if they can improve her face for the Black Series.

Human faces in general seem to be a challenge. I'm very pleased with the way Han and Luke in Stormtrooper Disguise turned out. Their faces are clearly recognizable, with good attention to fine details like the scar on Harrison Ford's chin.

I wonder if more cool designs and sculpts are being saved for future waves. For example, maybe Finn will get better threads and a new gun once he gets off Jakku.

The Kylo Ren I picked up is hefty. Sharp packaging. Haven't opened it yet.

I'm happy to see that the D23 figs aren't exclusive after all. This little pamphlet I got a the disney store shows most of those figures being released soon, about two a month.

I would snag a Vader from the elites along with a Kylo Ren , maybe even a Grevious (depending what he looks like).
