It's good to see the Legacy Line coming back- I know the first wave of GoT figures had some QC issues but their Evolve and Firefly figures were nice.

GREAT NEWS!!!!

The more options we have for 1/12 movie figures, the better.

I think THEIR sculpting for figures are really nice. Their are some easily correctable QC issues. On of the things that hurt about the Rocketeer figure(I own 5 bc he's the Rocketeer)is the lack of ability to look up. I understand you need to cut costs somewhere, but this wasn't right way to go about it especially a guy who needs to fly.

Mad Max doesn't need the articulation as the Rocketter, and I loved those designs.....I cannot wait for more info and pictures and hoping they fix those past QC issues.

Funko's 6" figures were never all that great, but hopefully they have taken their hiatus to figure out what they were doing wrong. I think that people were not only put off by the licenses Funko chose, but also the quality of the figures themselves.

That said, Fury Road is an awesome license to choose, but what happened to George Miller not allowing merchandising based on the movie? Weren't people asking for NECA to pick up the Mad Max license but Miller wasn't allowing it?

This is good and bad news. I’m happy that we’re getting 6” figures of Mad Max Fury Road, but I’m sad that it’s Funko. Those legacy figures were dreadful. I was really happy with the Rocketeer (I wanted a figure like that since I was a kid) but all the other lines were mediocre. Game of Thrones especially were poorly made. I have a couple that have broken belts, and I never even opened them. They literally broke as someone put them in the box. That’s just ridiculous. Here’s hoping these are good, because I am very interested. I will buy the whole lineup if they look good.

I had The Rocketeer, but mine broke at the hip. A couple friends had the whole Game of thrones line and every single one had breakage issues. That put me off from the get go. Then, once they shored up the QC (if only a bit) they were doing stuff like Book of Life, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and League of Legends and I just had no interest.

As for the licensing, it's a tough one to crack. But Funko having their foot in the door with Mad Max Pops and Mystery Minis could only have helped their position. If they solve the QC issues, then I might be in for Max, Furiosa and Immortan Joe.

I do wonder if we'll see anything from "Road Warrior" or "Mad Max" because there isn't much of anything MM related out there.
I'm still disappointed NECA isn't making 7" figures or even Mego style figures. I can't see Funko giving us much.

Definitely bitter-sweet news. Does anyone know if Funko has addressed their colossal quality issues from every single previous Legacy line? I'm staring at a pile of broken Funko limbs right now wondering if I should bother getting excited for this.

They also did MTG figures and I actually got three but those also peg-warmed hard in general. Their first GoT figures didn't sell because of terrible QC, the second wave didn't sell because of the first's bad reputation, and as we've gone over their other license choices tended to be duds on the market (I think Rocketeer was the only one I saw sell half-decently). They sorta tried reinventing the line by shrinking the scale a bit with their Bethesda and LoL figures but again those didn't seem to sell. Overall I'm sadly not optimistic for Mad Max figures given their track record but they could surprise me.

I fucking love Mad Max, needless to say I'm disappointed Funko has the rights. NECA fought so much for them but lost to Funko... The one series 2 GOT figure I got wasn't too horrible, felt like it could pose without fear of breaking. However not expecting much from this.

Honestly not all that bothered about Fury Road figures, it was a fun crazy ride of a movie but doesn't resonate with me at all. I will still buy them all since Mad Max gets so little merchandise, not getting pops or junk like that. At least these will scale with the old early 2000s N2 Road Warrior figures.

I'm not holding my breath for classic Mad Max, Road Warrior, or Beyond Thunderdome stuff. Would be amazing especially if they made an interceptor.

I feel we will just see Hardy Max, Furisoa, Immortan Joe, and maybe the guitar dude since everyone loves that guy.

They do have, as pointed out, a history of picking ponderous licenses. I don't think this is one. I mean, NECA made a good move with Pacific Rim, maybe Fury Road will have the same type of pull here. I think there's hot anticipation for the license and even though the actual movie is a couple years old I think it will still do well. The track record on the Legacy figures QC is still horrendous, even with the more well received figures, so not sure what to think there. At worst, we'll still have something from Mad Max that won't be completely horrible. At best, maybe it'll open the door for other licensees to do Mad Max stuff. I have no faith, but it might not be a complete clusterfuck. Maybe.

I just read the linked article-

Quote:
As the line continued, interest seemed to wane a bit, as Funko picked up licenses that never seemed to resonate with figure collectors.
Maybe it had less to do with them picking WILDLY POPULAR SERIES LIKE SKYRIM, FALLOUT, AND GAME OF THRONES and more to do with how 1 IN 4 FIGURES WOULD BREAK APART AT THE JOINTS WHEN YOU TRIED TO POSE THEM. Which by the way, is why you can currently run into almost any clearance or department store and pick up Legacy figures for like 3 bucks!

Quote:
However, in a new interview over at Action Figure Junkies, Funko CEO Brian Mariotti reveals that the Legacy Series is far from dead.
The interviewer, Kruse, asked Mariotti if the Legacy line was coming back, Mariotti literally only used 10 words to say Legacy "isn't dead" and Mad Max: Fury Road figs are coming, then IMMEDIATELY switched the conversation to how much he loves VNYL figures.

Cripes.

I'm not trying to bust your balls, Joe Moore, but when the CEO of the company treats the Legacy line as an afterthought, I would hardly call the line "far from dead", as you put it. The level of dismissiveness and total lack of acknowledgement from Funko about their obviously faulty product is disturbing and disappointing.

I'm sure Fury Road fans all want these figures to be excellent figures, I want them to be awesome, anyway, I just don't see any indication of that being the case.

I'm torn on this. I am still bitter at Funko for cancelling GOT Legacy after 2 waves. On the other hand maybe they realized they were not good figures and just stopped until they could get better at it. I'll try wait until they are in hand before committing one way or the other. I just hope the line is able to go deep into characters and maybe a vehicle or two

While it's great to see Funko getting more desired licenses for actual action figures I also wish NECA got this license instead. NECA would have crammed a lot more detail into them I'm sure. Funko had decent sculpts, but the sculpts themselves were a little soft. Also while I like Fury abroad I have a hard time believing that these will do remarkably well.

While Mad Max is a beloved franchise, like Planet of the Apes I don't think this will have strong figure support from a wide audience, not to mention that it's been over two years since fury road was released. I don't think anybody is really talking about or clamoring for more Mad Max. Call me crazy, but I don't think we'll see too much from this.

The good news is that typically Funko releases a bunch of different figures at once from the get go so we'll probably get st least three or four main characters when the line launches.

I didn't have any breakage issues with my Firefly figures, though I approached them much like early NECA offerings, slowly and often with a hair dryer to loosen things up first.

If they get the paint apps right, this can be a great license and then hopefully they'll get the second round of Firefly figures out. They only need one more wave to essentially complete the expanded crew. Give me Simon and River, Inara, Book, and maybe Jubal Early to finish it off.

I think Fury Road is one of the most overrated movies I've ever seen... but Charlize Theron is utterly spellbinding in it... would love an action figure of her for sure. I would rather have Mel Gibson version figures of Mad Max though.
