The Overwatch figures died too... and before I could get my Mei action figure. At least Mei is still one of the main characters in OW2, but who knows if Hasbro will make more OW figs when OW2 comes out.

Also it is so weird that a lot of places got either Firefly or Vipers... not both. And of all the toy hunts I have watched on Youtube in the past 2 weeks... only one or maybe two people found an actual Viper or Firefly hanging on a peg at Target... everybody else had to ask an employee to get one.

I am 100% sure a Target employee hid the 5 Vipers that came in Sunday morning at my nearest Target... he hid them all day so no other Target employee could find them when people came and asked about the Vipers... and he bought them all himself later on. I am 100% sure those 5 Vipers never made it to any peg.

But gawd damn... waiting 8 hours in Target for someone to put out some toys... I don't know about that. I guess that's similar to people who wait outside 2 days early to buy stuff at Best Buy during Black Friday though... or like waiting all day for concert tickets or something.

Ghostbusters just got cut off at the knees by Covid, since the new movie is delayed Hasbro was forced to shelf all of the toys that would have spoiled the new movie. Otherwise there would have been a lot more figures available than just a bunch of Ray Stantz's hanging out at Walmart needing to be clearanced.

G.I.Joe on the other hand is just the perfect storm of retailers underestimating demand and the sudden surge of way too many collectors with too much time and extra money on their hands. But honestly I don't see a lot of these guys getting into the G.I.Joe game sticking it out for the long haul.

Ray? How about the entire line? Every figure is in plentiful stock at my stores with Dana being about a 3:1 ratio. My Walmart has 22 of her just collecting udst.

G.I.Joe got shafted long before the pandemic started, rewind the clock a year ago before any of the shut down and you still couldn't find Wave 1 barely anywhere. Stores weren't ordering G.I.Joe because people still remember the last time the brand was in stores when it basically turned into a TRU exclusive line that they couldn't even give away, hence the very slow roll out and half the figures so far ending up as Target exclusives. But even with this sudden surge or interest in action figures and collectibles, you know Hasbro is working to catch up but at the same time I'm sure they're still gauging whether or not the hype is real or if a lot of these guys that are on stake-out at Target on truck day for Vipers will even be in it this time next year and not just dumping off and listing a bunch of Troop builders on eBay.

Due dates aren't hard release dates, every year toys always release earlier than those expected dates. Now Cobra Island stuff didn't come in until later, but Wave 1 arrived mid-December and early January (and at some Walmarts right to clearance). And the orders and production numbers were already set, clearly showing Hasbro didn't expect and certainly didn't plan for this level of hype.

Weren't these first shown at the Hasbro event for New York Toy Fair 2020 in February? I think there was a special edition snake eyes that was released earlier but I'm pretty sure the rest were announced in Feb 2020 & then weren't released until May/June?

Yeah- none around here either. Thankfully a buddy on FB that doesn't collect Joes found a bunch and asked if I needed him. I'm not as anxious about the Vipers since I never really liked them and wouldn't be upset if I never find one. (Not that I wouldn't buy a Viper if I ever see one in the wild)

You might start seeing more Cobra Island figures on the peg going forward...Target has now started blocking inventory apps like Popfindr and Brickseek from tracking them the way they did with the PS5 and Xbox. Wouldn't hurt to check your toy aisle every now and again in the future.

I initially felt the same way and like you have never been a big Viper fan. But man, I can't put the Viper down. It's an incredible figure all around. They fixed all the "issues" I have with the vintage design. The arm gauntlets are removable so they have even more display options. Here's how they look without gear in case anyone was curious.

I was initially bummed by that but I've managed to find two more Vipers a few days ago and Firefly today. Each one was the last on the pegs when I found them.
