With Veterans Day approaching I decided to have my display for the month be all things, GI Joe Classified. Have a simple GI Joe Vs. COBRA battle.

I got the same "technical issues" email myself this morning, and I used Paypal. Yeah, that's some bullshit, Target. I'll give my money to an overseas seller, and I'll be skipping anything from them from this point forward. More than a year of waiting only to be screwed. No thanks.

They pulled the "technical issues" excuse on me when they cancelled my Barbecue and Breaker with RAM cycle. I was able to reorder Barbecue with the same card that the original order was placed with, but at that point Breaker and the RAM was no longer available to order and the only reason I eventually got one is because BBTS had them available.

It's been a couple of days, so of course I got another TF Outback delay approval email from Target. New date is Nov 18, but I am sure that will change.

EDITED TO ADD:
And as a bonus, I also have $50 hold on my card for TF Recondo and Bazooka.

Huh. I apparently managed to pre-order the TF/PP figures from Pulse and forgot. I just received notice that they will be shipping soon.

I saw a payment processed to Target on my card and I couldn't figure out what it would be for. I looked at my Target account my TF Outback shipped? I am kind of shocked.

Yeah, I can sympathize with that. I have a big fear that my Target preorders for Bazooka and Recondo and my Hasbro Pulse orders for Mindbender, Serpentor, and the Spiderman NWH 3 pack are all going to hit at the same time.

And I jinxed myself. First wave of Serpentor figures are apparently about to start shipping from Hasbro Pulse.

I finally spotted Tomax and Xamot at Target today, but some dickhead had crushed their boxes and they only had one of each. I like to keep the boxes, so I passed, hopefully they get more. No sign of tiger force outback yet.

I had to cancel my preorder for Serpentor due to the tidal wave of figures being released all of a sudden. I don't have the budget for it. Mindbender might also have to go.

I understand the sentiment. On top of the early figure releases, I also have a number of late Kickstarter projects that are piling up with shipping charges as they finally fulfill. It has been an expensive end to the year.

While I haven't kept up post-restock, there was a pretty good business being done with confirmed preorders on both figures on eBay. Serpentor was going for $150 in some cases.

I got my TF Outback today. I like the actual figure a lot, but have some issues with the accessories. His knife has no paint on it at all, so it looks kind of plain compared to the knives that came with Stalker or the commando Snake Eyes. His gun feels rubbery, and due to that the clip falls out while posing the figure. And his backpack has a port for plugging in items on each side, but he only has one item (the shovel) that plugs into it, so it looks like he's missing something. It would of been nice to have some paint on the buckles on the backpack.

But the figure itself is nice, has a great head sculpt, and the detail on his "leather" straps looks good.

But at this point I want Hasbro to sell some accessory packs. Throw in some guns, some blast effects, and a couple of stands.

I have been suggesting for over a year now that Hasbro sell weapon and overlay packs. That would allow them to cater to both the ARAH crowd and those of us who would like the more bleeding edge toward sci-fi look. Design a base figure that could work for both, sell it with one or the other and sell the other as part of an accessory set.

I mentioned this over on the 'tank a while back when Outback first began showing up from overseas, but that rubbery rifle may be a blessing in disguise- ever tried hunting down an '87 outback with an intact strap?

I do agree with the desire for accessory packs though. Stands are also a must for those of us that live in warmer climates.

I'd rather cancel my order so that hopefully someone who really wants him can order him for retail.

Yeah, I'm the same way, TBH. Hell, I don't even much like selling things I have in hand, although I've been doing a lot of it lately.

After seeing that shot of the PP B.A.T., I have no regrets about cancelling my preorders. I was still kind of torn on it, but not anymore. Nothing against it, it's just not for me. I'm out on most variants and the like in the line. I probably won't even get the female trooper 2 pack. I need to scale back my buying and draw lines in the sand, and Hasbro is ripe for line drawing.

Yeah, Python Patrol, Tiger Force, Night Force, Slaughter Marauders, etc., are really ways for Hasbro to sell more toys with the same mold, they're hardly necessary except for the completists...like me.

Absolutely. I was a completist on this line and did a fair bit of troop building, too. That's one of the main reasons I went in on the HISSTank. But, I sold off my extra troops and skipped Kamakura, the blue ninjas, and Snake Eyes/ Timber V.2. That made it a lot easier to cancel preorders on TF, PP, SM, Viper 3 pack, and Crimson B.A.T. Now I'm just getting the characters I had as a kid and only 1 of each of troops.

Not being able to get Master of Disguise Zartan made me decide not to be a completist on the Classified line. I'll still probably go for new molds, but skip out on most repaints, like the PP and Crimson BATs. But I am about to stop slowing down my purchases anyway. I've been all in on GI Joe, and picking up random SW Black Series and Marvel Legends, but I'm about to start being a lot more selective about what I get due to rising costs and running out of space. At least I have a year before I have to figure out where I'm going to put the HISS.

So far I have been a completionist with the exception that I refuse to pay $200+ for the original 00 Snake Eyes. However, as time goes on, the designs continue to trend more and more toward ARAH in 6" and Target continues to pull their crap, I find myself less inclined to continue with the majority of the line.

From this point forward, I believe I will be hard evaluating new releases compared to the automatic purchase mentality I have been having. This is especially true as I have come to realize that the only figures I absolutely love in this line are the original Troopers, the Red Ninjas, the original BATs, the Blue Ninjas and the animals from the various 2 packs. Everything else has been momentary fondness to "why did I buy this". I am considering cancelling some pre-orders like Dusty and Zarana as I have no attachment to either.

At some point you just have to stop and say "how many Snake Eyes do I really need?", let alone how many Timbers to go with him. Same goes with buying every single repaint that comes along, so much is nice but just unnecessary.
