Alrighty then! Time for some G. I. Joe: Retaliation News. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to tell.
Ray Park seems to be enjoying himself a LOT. His recent Tweets indicate a ton of Ninja action. But we’ll get to that later as there is something important regarding toy-wise. A tweet made by Ray Park hints a close friendship with Logan Lubera; an extremely talented Hasbro Designer. Some of Mr. Park's Tweets… Big Action Ninja Joe day tomorrow! Will be a lot of fun. A bunch of cool nice stunts guys I have 2 take out. Wow I'm getting 2 do what I Luv Ninja Joe Action Day tomorrow. I will be very busy tomorrow. Love it! Well, this site is named HISS TANK after all. Sister site TFW2005 has posted a rundown of 3rd party goods revealed at the Cherry Bomb Toy Show. Included in this rundown is a silhouette image of an Optimus Prime based figure. This appears to be none other than the HISS Tank Optimus Prime from the GI Joe VS Transformers crossover comics(from Devils Due Press)!
This figure(cleverly named, Serpent Leader) is by Corbot V, the same guys who made the game-accurate battle axe for Optimus Prime from the War For Cybertron game. The headline on the image is Eternal Warfare Final Armageddon, could there be more figures on the way? Take a closer look at the HISS Tank Optimus after the jump! |

I've had people tell me, color plastics will be lighter then painted plastics. Which is true. Same with the case of Thundercracker. He is more of a Blue Metallic, which is what is on the Dodge Viper GTS. This color is also very close to the pigments of flake found in the original and reissue Thundercracker figure." Now that New York Comic Con 2011 is over I just wanted to point out one of the most under-rated news story's of the year. Hasbro's UNIT-E NYCC 2011 Exclusive Comic! In many ways this could be called, "Hasbro Universe Issue 0". I understand why it took so long for Hasbro to put this together, but I still have a need to say it, IT'S ABOUT TIME! If there is one exclusive that fans of Hasbro Toy Brands should be seeking out, this is it.
UNIT-E sets the stage for all of Hasbro's Brands to become one under the same roof for the first time. Not only is Hasbro throwing lines like Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Micronauts into the same ring.....They are also expanding the Brands they already own and giving them new life in UNIT-E. UNIT-E starts off with Synergy (JEM and the HOLOGRAMS Fame) and Biotron (Micronauts) traveling the universe heading to Earth. Their mission is to protect Acroyear? and find the heroes of Earth to defend against Karza's Army. The short story ends after a brief into into the updated brands that Hasbro may update in the future. To view UNITE-E images and to read more about this awesome news click the Title Bar! |

Yesterday at the Hasbro Third Quarter 2011 Earnings Conference Call, CEO of Hasbro; Mr. Brian Goldner hinted G. I. Joe Kre-O.
Although he didn’t give away directly, he did hint that Kre-O is not just about Transformers but will contain other brand names too. He mentioned this, answering a question regarding the success of other brands except Transformers and Bayblade. “In Kre-O business, this year of course is focused on Transformers brand and is off to a great start in 8 countries and we’ll roll that out to rest of the world in 2012” said Mr. Goldner. With the second G. I. Joe movie coming out next year, there is a good possibility that Kre-O Year 2 might be for the Joe brand. We’ll hear more… soon. *The image of this news post is a military themed construction brick set from Oxford Bricks who manufacture Kre-O on behalf of Hasbro. Thanks to the Facebook page of Mat Brouillard we now have images of the unused Pilot Firefly(from Rise Of Cobra) and Clutch(from Pursuit Of Cobra) mockups. Firefly sports a completely different helmet than the one we ended up getting and Clutch has a completely different body(the head shown was just a placeholder).
Do you like this Firefly more than the final production one? Does this Clutch look better than the kitbashed one we got with the VAMP 4 x 4? Take closer looks after the jump! |

Yesterday TheRock tweeted an image of himself as Roadblock in GI Joe Retaliation. While this image did give us our 1st look at his new body armor(different from the 1st image he showed us in summer), the image was admittedly blurry.
Today he has tweeted a much clearer image of himself onset in this new uniform. We'll see him kick Cobra roody poo candy asses next year in Retaliation, but check out the newest image of his new body armor after the jump! |

To kick off the weekend Hasbro has sent back the answers for the 5th round of 2011 GI Joe Q&A! Here we go....
1) Will the Concept Blowtorch and TheTransTortured Python Patrol Croc Master repaints be released? We never saw them in the Pursuit Of Cobra line and have yet to see them in the 30th Anniversary line. A) no answer 2) GI Joe 30th Anniversary Wave 2(the Renegades wave) was released recently and the figures are missing some weapons and accessories that they were shown with at Toy Fair/JoeCon. Going forward, will figures from waves 3 and beyond come intact with everything that the prototypes were shown with? A) In order to put out these highly articulated, highly deco'd figures in the face of rising production costs we had to make some tough decisions. These changes were made in an effort to cost reduce the entire assortment. There are currently no plans to further cost reduce these figures. 3) Through the years we've enjoyed the packaging and concept art of GI Joe A Real American Hero to present GI Joe lines. Be it from Dave Dorman, Ron Rudat, Draxhall Jump, et al. Has an art book collecting 30 years of ARAH-present art been taken into consideration? Sure there are glimpses in Mark Bellomo's 2nd GI Joe book, Draxhall Jump's site, and a sketchbook you gave out at one of the SDCC's. However we want it all and in one book! A) Thanks for the question! While nothing is currently planned, we always say "never say never." If there is enough demand for a book like this, we defintiely want the fans to let us know! |

DelmarvaNOW has reported that GI Joe Comic artist Tom Feister will be in Salisbury on October 26th 2011, for an autograph session during Illusion Games & Comics Appreciation Day(from 4-6PM). In addition they interviewed Feister. Here's a snippet from the interview, in which he conveys his appreciation for Larry Hama:
G.I. Joe is my favorite thing I've worked on because it's the book that first got me excited about collecting comics. The first comics pro I ever met was a man named Larry Hama, who is the man responsible for the creation of the G.I. Joe story and characters. When I was around 9 years old my Mom set up a tour of Marvel Comics' offices in New York City. As soon as we got to the office the receptionist told my group that we wouldn't meet any artists or writers because they mostly worked at home. I was immediately disappointed. At the end of the tour, however, my mom mentioned to the receptionist that I was a fan of G.I. Joe. The woman said that Larry Hama was actually in his office today and she would walk back to see if he had a moment to say hello. They walked me back to his cramped office piled high with comics and stacks of papers. Larry spent about 20 minutes with me. He showed me some art from an upcoming book, and then told me a secret about the story that was going on in the book at the time, and then swore me to secrecy. He handed me a stack of G.I. Joe comics that were sitting in his office and signed a few. I left in a daze. He took a few minutes out of his day and changed the course of the rest of my life. Last year, I was fortunate enough to spend a weekend sitting next to him at a G.I. Joe convention. It's one of the highlights of my career Are you an aspiring artist? Here's some advice from Tom Feister: Draw constantly. Take a sketchbook with you everywhere you go. Find working artists and try to pick up as much information from them as you can. Intern. Even if you're only taking out their trash and getting them coffee. Watching them work will be better than any art school you'll go to. |
