Collider recently talked with The Rock about GI Joe 3, which was delayed due to Jon Chu directing Jem and The Holograms first.
The Rock says: Johnson: Yeah, yeah. Well, the idea is that we would start shooting G.I. Joe in January, in the first quarter of next year. That’s the idea. Look, I love Jon, and I think he did a great job. I get it. He had to go on and do something else. By the way, maybe… Collider: He could still be done by then. Johnson: Could be, right? Collider: So do you guys have a Joe 3 director yet? Are you still looking? Johnson: We’re still looking, yeah. So while there is still a possibility of Chu returning to direct GI Joe 3, the search is on for a new director in the meantime. Do you want Chu to return? If not, who do you think would be a good director for GI Joe 3?... [Read More] |

Site sponsor and friend Stylin Online has launched a Kickstarter project along with B'lockhouse (aka Josh Blaylock of Devils Due fame) to produce a new artist based T-Shirt line called Artist Alley Tees. They have gotten the project up and running already, with artwork and test runs done (artists paid), but are looking to Kickstarter to see if there is demand for a wider production run.
From the Kickstarter page: ARTIST ALLEY TEES is a simple concept. We pick the comic artists you love, give them some themes that are all the current rage, and set them loose designing their own tees. The initial round of artists include Art Baltazar, K. Lynn Smith, Nei Ruffino, Phil Hester, and Tim Seeley. This isn't like some of the parody / mash up / one a day sites out there. Seems to be more artist focused with larger print runs and available longer, even if limited. Bagging and boarding the shirts is a nice touch too IMO. Check out full details over at Kickstarter, and support if you dig it! ... [Read More] |

The following was posted by Alyosha and the G.I.Joe Collectors Club:
Hey Joe Fans, it's that time! As you know, we are hosting a customizing class for the GI Joe Collector's Club in Dallas on Thursday April the 10th. The times for the class have been moved up slightly to 8AM, so be aware. This years class is a bit different than what has been put together in the past in that it's a more directed build, instead of the usual custom free for all. The figure we'll be working on, and that you'll receive parts for this year is "Chef". You may not be aware, but Starduster (Action Stars Cereal Premium Mail Away) was originally supposed to be a different character who was the GI Joe team's mess cook. The original figure used most of the same parts we saw on Starduster, but with a couple of differences and some new parts. We are paying homage to this bit of GI Joe lore but building a modern update of this character. The parts for Chef that will be provided in class will all be cast in two different densities of commercial grade urethane resins and made in their base colors. The parts list includes:
Regarding legs for your Chef figure, we suggest anything that has a bloused mid length boot and basic thighs. Knife scabbards or holsters will prevent the apron from fitting properly, so bear that in mind. We are providing paints, glue, brushes and cutting tools for the build. If you have a favorite set of brushes or paints that you prefer, please do bring them. There will be a small selection of donor body parts available for those first time customizers who have not acquired a "morgue" of parts to choose from yet. Please only plan to use the morgue if you do not have any parts of your own to choose from. Well, there you go! The guys from Boss Fight Studios and myself (Alyosha) with Tim "Raginspoon'" Ericson are very much looking forward to hosting this class, and meeting all of the attending GI Joe customizers in person. See you there!... [Read More] |

The Wall Street Journal has posted a piece on Larry Hama. The article's focus is on The new Marvel Novel, Death of Captain America. Here is a brief clip from the article:
Larry Hama is a mild-mannered, 64-year-old comic-book writer, editor and illustrator—but he has the résumé of 10 men. Born in Queens, he studied judo, archery and swordsmanship as a child. He got into comic books at age 16 and has worked on such well-known characters as Batman, Wonder Woman and Wolverine, though Mr. Hama is best known for spearheading Hasbro's official G.I. Joe comics in the 1980s (there's even a character named Tunnel Rat who looks like him). You can view the article in it's entirety here: Larry Hama - He even killed Captain America... [Read More] |

Check out this cool custom H.I.S.S. Tank Support B.A.T. by Dusty79. Here's the backstory -
This version of the B.A.T. was designed to provide infantry support to mobile HISS tank units. They unleash concentrated barrages of High Explosive Incendiary/Armor Piercing Ammunition (HEIAP) on those targets that represent the largest threat to the HISS tanks. They also provide defense against flanking maneuvers by smaller and more agile vehicles that are typically less armored and are simply shredded by the assault. Many an AWE Striker has regretted an attempt to flank a HISS tank protected by these specialized B.A.T.s. They are nicknamed "Hellions" by the HISS tank crews. You can see more images, review the part list and join in on the discussion after the break.... [Read More] |

Marauder_john, whom you may recognize as the head of Marauder "Gun-Runners", has introduced a new project created in collaboration with none other than Boss Fight Studios! Marauder Task Force is a line of 1/18 scale military gaming figures. These figures were made with customization in mind! Here's more info from the Kickstarter page:
Each highly detailed figure is fully articulated, features multi-role customizable design options, and is equipped with a wide variety of interchangeable accessories. Simple-to-customize figures are designed to work WITH “modular” gear & accessories. The gaming figures have a unique design versatility that allows for use in Sci-Fi, Police, Military and Superhero games. Basically, whatever gaming scenario required, the Marauder Task Force figure can fill the need. The nameless, faceless minions are ideal for army building or to use as "backup" with other currently available gaming figures. Each 1:18 scale gaming figure is approximately 4 inches tall, made from high tech ABS & PVC materials and produced AT a modern factory (NOT “castings” made out of “resin”). The figures feature an amazing level of sculpting detail and realistic authentic designs. For maximum poseability, each figure has a large number of articulation points to allow positioning in virtually any pose required. “Modular” interchangeable accessories are the key feature to the Marauder GR Gaming Figure System. To assist the “customizers” in our hobby, the removable headgear & vests have "modular" attachment points which provide the ability to “mix & match” the assorted modular equipment as desired. Also, there are "modular" accessory mounting points ON the actual figure. The figures and accessories will be available in assorted colors. There are several participation levels available in our Kickstarter project. Everything from simple contributions, to single figure level options, to massive 27 figure sets…all the way to limited “one of a kind” Paint Master prototypes. The higher the participation level, the better the value. To add to the event, there are several "Stretch" goals. If we hit the stretch goals, FREE bonus items will be added to specific participation levels and can also purchase ADDITIONAL stretch goal items. If you're looking for super detailed, fully articulated, easy to customize gaming figures with interchangeable accessories…the Marauder Task Force gaming figure is for you! With YOUR support, we can make it happen! Itching to see this project reach fruition and get these figures into your hands? Check out more information at the Marauder Task Force Kickstarter Page!... Jeremy Davis AKA Zartanman has been making custom action figures professionally since 1996. He has been an action figure collector since 1977 with the conception of the Star Wars Kenner figures. As a child Zartanman was a huge G.I. Joe collector and fan.
The Custom Action Figure Guide will walk anyone step-by-step through creating custom action figures and vehicles. The guide will cover painting, sculpting, casting parts, kitbashing, adding lights & sounds as well as creating dioramas and custom stands. This guide will focus heavily on 4in Joe Scale action figures but will also include Transformers, Vehicles and other popular action figure genres. The guide will be in .pdf format and the donation amount for the PDF guide is only $5. For $25 you can gain access to the optional tutorial videos, the videos will cover each chapter of the book as well as many projects that will be step-by-step from start to finish. This customizing guide is something Zartanman has been wanting to create for over five years. Zartanman is currently finishing up his Bachelors degree and will be looking to enter the workforce again soon. However his ultimate goal is to start a Toy & Game business known as Tesseract Toys & Games. Zartanman hopes that by starting small with this campaign he can get some of the funds necessary to start his business. The Money from Kickstarter will be used to create and finish many of the projects that will be used as Tutorials for creating this book. As well as put towards the start of Tesseract Toys & Games. If this campaign is successful there will be more to follow to help launch Tesseract Toys & Games. Once this project is completed Tesseract Toys will be hosting tutorial videos on their website for a monthly subscription fee of $5.00 per month. However, anyone who is a contributor to the Kickstarter Campaign of $25 or more will receive a lifetime free membership to the tutorials. Zartanman intends to host one new tutorial per month. Many of you have enjoyed the Acid Rain coverage that we've brought to you. Some have asked if we'd cover the upcoming Lost Planet line of collectibles from Toy Notch...well, your wish has been granted! HissTank.com Newsie r3v3n63 reached out to our friend Ben from Toy Notch to discuss their upcoming Lost Planet line.
The interview is extensive, but here are a few pieces to help whet your appetite - Hey! I was able to get a Q+A with Ben from Toy Notch and he was kind enough to take the time and talk about the company as well as the new Hardballer mecha that is getting released later this year... HT: Who is Toy Notch and what kind of projects have the founders worked on in the past? TN: We are a new company. We have done some OEM for other brands before, but most of them are very niche items and also of low volume. HT: The Lost Planet franchise is your companies first release, what reasons did you have for choosing that IP? TN: Many years ago, our developer bought the LP art book which was only released in Japan, and then he was very impressed by the designs of the game. Although some of the mechs had only one or two scenes in the video game, they are very awesome designs. HT: Was there a reason you settled on 1:18th scale for the line? TN: 1:18th was a very tough decision. As people found GI Joe and Microman were going down in these years, most likely for the increased production cost in China, even big companies find it hard to maintain the price point of 10.00. As a new company, we wouldn’t be able to produce a volume big enough to bring down the metal mold cost, our 4” would be very expensive compared to others. But, 1:18th is the best scale if we want to take care of both the human characters and mech very well. After many considerations, we end up going for 1:18th, and Capcom kindly supported us. You can view the interview in its entirety after the break. We look forward to bringing you more Lost Planet Coverage here on HissTank and on our sister site, Toy Ark... [Read More] |
