TV Shows On DVD posted an article today revealing news from Home Media Magazine that the complete series of G.I. Joe A Real American Hero will be released on DVD this year!
Shout! Factory has signed a multiyear agreement with toymaker Hasbro to bring to DVD several animated properties based on the company’s toy lines. The deal includes episodes of 1980s animated series “The Transformers” and “G.I. Joe.,” “We’ve wanted this for years,” said Shout! Factory president Garson Foos. “These are all iconic pop-culture brands.” Foos said Shout! Factory would follow the release with special complete-series sets of “The Transformers” and “G.I. Joe” later this summer. In the case of “G.I. Joe,” Rhino lost the rights before completing its release slate, which means many of the episodes will finally be released for the first time. The complete series sets will contain additional bonus content above and beyond the bonus content featured on the individual season sets. Yo Joe! |

The classic game of real-estate gets an extreme makeover! Control the entire G.I. USAOPOLY began in 1994 with a great idea for a hometown spin on the classic MONOPOLY game. After securing permission from Hasbro to license the world famous property trading game from Parker Brothers, the San Diego edition of the MONOPOLY game was born, and so was USAOPOLY, Inc. We started with cities, colleges and popular themes like NASCAR, COCA-COLA and The Simpsons. Over 100 different specialty editions later, USAOPOLY started putting spins on other timeless games we all know and love to play like Chess, Checkers, Tic Tac Toe, Dominoes, Backgammon, Bingo, Cribbage, Poker and Bunco. The latest issue of Nintendo Power has an article on the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra video game for the Nintendo Wii & DS. This article mentions interesting characters and vehicles that could possibly show up in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toy line by Hasbro. The following characters were listed:
B.A.T.'s Red Ninjas Night Creepers Stalker A few weeks back we did get a listing with something very similar to the Red Ninjas. Also included with that listing was Kamakura. With Stalker being an "original 13" joe, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see an offscreen movie figure of him. The Night Creepers could be more subdued repaints of the figure from the upcoming 7-pack. Same thing goes for the B.A.T.'s. The Red Ninjas could be repaints of the existing Red Ninja figure, or a figure made from a combination of other parts, like Firefly. Perhaps some of the characters listed will be additional figures in the Toys 'R' Us exclusive, Headquarters For Heroes wave. Also listed are vehicles: Crimson Attack Tanks Flight Pods H.I.S.S. Tank(V1 Classic; in DS game) Snowcat The Crimson Attack Tanks could be easy repaints of the M.O.B.A.T., but the question is, which one? The movie version looks significantly different from the original. The Flight Pods, like the M.O.B.A.T. might be an all new design. The H.I.S.S. Tank would be an easy re-release in classic colors. Now the H.I.S.S. Tank shown in the trailer would have to be all new, it is significantly larger and completely different from previous H.I.S.S. Tanks. We've seen images of the Serpent Armor, a larger, futuristic version of the S.N.A.K.E. Armor, could this be a future alpha class vehicle release? The Snowcat was confirmed by Hasbro during their bi-monthly q/a sessions. What colors will it be in, and will it be retooled with more gimmicks, or kept the same as the original? Join the speculation by clicking the discuss button below! |

HISS Tank.com staff member General Hawk59 has posted images of the unmasked Storm Shadow(Paris Pursuit), and Cover Girl figures from G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra! These figures are more than meets the eye, as Cover Girl is comprised of parts from the Lady Jaye figure from the recent G.I. Joe 5-pack, and new parts. The lower legs, and upper body are from Lady Jaye, with the G.I. Joe movie logo taking the place of the knife mounted on the upper body.
Storm Shadow uses parts from the masked wave 1 version, however there are differences aside the mask and lack of coattails. The scabbards are removable on this version, and the swords lack the Arashikage clan logo. He also includes a suction cup for climbing, and 2 sais. If you want, these sais can be used by the Ice Viper instead. Also included in this set of images is a side by side comparison of both masked, and unmasked Storm Shadow figures! IESB has interviewed Channing Tatum, who plays as Duke in the upcoming G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra movie. This interview reveals some new information about the movie:
Q: What was the line you had to say that made you think, “I will never be able to say this with a straight face!”? CT:There were so many! Every single one of the lines was like that. I don’t think it actually made it into the film, but I had to say, “Action figure sold separately,” or something like that. And, Marlon had a line where he says, “You’ve got a Kung Fu Grip!” All the G.I. Joe dolls had the Kung Fu Grip, and he had to say that about somebody that grabbed him. I was like, “That ain’t ever gonna work! That’s never, ever gonna be in the movie!” And, it’s in the movie and it works. All the fanboys will be like, “Yeah!!!” People who don’t know about the Kung Fu Grip will just be like, “Whatever, that’s just what he chose to say right then.” Q: So, the film is self-referential? CT: Yeah. It’s very self-referential sometimes, just for the wink at the crowd. Want to know more? Click on the title bar! |

HISS Tank.com boards member northerncrowe has just informed us that Teletoon will be airing G.I. Joe Resolute in Canada on April 24th! This possibly further solidifies the air date of April 24th for Adult Swim as well!
G.I. Joe Resolute will follow the airing of Ultimate Avengers II on Teletoon. That's not all, there are more things planned in the months to come! In addition, a new trailer was seen and here is what Crowe had to say: I just saw a new trailer (not the Joecon one): City being blown up (which we knew) SE and SS fighting (which we could've guessed) SE parachuting in and slicing a trooper (not the sword twist shot.) Duke and Scarlett fighting back to back Scarlett flipping and shooting like a John Woo film The carrier getting shot up pretty bad Zartan (pretty sure) shooting a missile gun thingy Not toned down as far as I can tell which is why it must air later in the evening. Thanks to HISS Tank.com boards member northerncrowe for the heads up! Join in on the speculation by clicking the discuss button below! |

An image of a Snowcat testshot has been posted by xingzhangi joe. It's currently unknown whether the mold used was the one from Spytroops, or if it's a retooled version of the vintage A Real American Hero version.
The Snowcat is confirmed to be in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra video game, and Hasbro confirmed that it will be released later on. So the question is, is this Snowcat pictured from the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toy line, or the G.I. Joe modern era line? Click on the thumbnail to the left to take a closer look, and post your guesses by clicking the discuss button below! |

Not too long after we were given the initial heads up on G.I. Joe Resolute airing on Teletoon, Teletoon added a G.I. Joe Resolute information page to their site. This officially confirms that G.I. Joe Resolute is now on their roster! It will air on Friday April 24th, at 11:15PM. Here is what they have to say on G.I. Joe Resolute:
G.I. JOE is a highly trained, classified special operations unit composed of men and women from around the globe. Officially, these warriors don't even exist. Few know the truth-that G.I. JOE fights a secret war, as the first and last line of defense against forces who seek to plunge our world into chaos. Wherever there's trouble, G.I. JOE is there. In G.I. JOE RESOLUTE, the ranging battle between G.I. JOE and COBRA has never been more intense. Every life is at stake-and even the good guys can die. Your favorite characters are back-but this time, no one is safe. No parachutes. No lasers. No rules. All the games end today. NOW YOU KNOW-AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE. |

Shout! Factory has posted a definitive G.I. Joe thread, in which Brian Ward of Shout! Factory takes questions about the upcoming G.I. Joe A Real American Hero DVD releases, and answers them!
New information has already been posted, and Brian has already answered some questions! Here is what he had to say: There isn't much I can say that's different here, although I will say that the original masters looked considerably better than those of Transformers. And, unlike Rhino, we will be completing the series. In one fell swoop, in fact. No, I can't go into even the vaguest of details about when, but I can say "soon." We're already working up a press release, so it's THAT soon. We will have featurettes, like the ones on Transformers. We will have the designers, the producers, the writers, the voice cast, PSAs, toy commercials and more. As soon as I'm allowed, I'll go into more detail. Oh, and to answer the questions about running times and how many episodes, etc... We are not moving into the DiC Entertainment years, only Sunbow. We have a pretty good relationship with the company once known as DiC, but have no real relationship with Cookie Jar, so it's not really as simple as giving 'em a call. Doesn't mean it'll never happen. But it does mean that the DiC incarnation of the series will not be included in our complete series set, nor will we be working on those season sets anytime soon. In addition, G.I. Joe A Real American Hero - Season 1.1 will include both original miniseries. The bumpers are included. As I mentioned in the Transformers thread and should've mentioned here, there are several episodes in which the episode audio bleeds into the commercial bumper. Rather than attempt a bad sounding audio cut where the bumper would appear, I decided to leave them in. Not only included in the complete series set, the two miniseries will be the first two discs of the first season set, as well. As for the movie, I can't really talk about that, yet. Soon. We're all hoping to put CC and subtitling on all of our titles in the future, especially for things like Transformers and G.I. Joe, but our budget is finite and when the cost of captioning all of the episodes of both titles equals roughly 3/5 of our budget, we have to look at it realistically. As I mentioned in the other thread, we're hoping to find sponsorship for captioning in the future, but haven't secured anything, yet. |

The latest G.I. Joe Resolute trailer reveals new vehicles taking off of the USS Flagg, the Tomahawk, Skystriker(XP-23F), and a cargo plane! The new Tomahawk and Skystriker are significantly different from the A Real American Hero versions, and here is how they break down.
The new Skystriker is based on the YF-23, and going with designations typically used by Hasbro, could be designated XP-23F. last year, it was reported that this plane is a 2-seater. Yet there are more differences from the actual YF-23 and the YF-23 based Skystriker shown in G.I. Joe Resolute. The designers added small canards aft of the cockpit, as well as winglets. There is a lot of love for the classic A Real American Hero Skystriker XP-14F here at HISS Tank.com, and many of you wanted to see how a successor to it would look like. This is it. Coincidentally enough, the companies that made the aircraft that these Skystrikers were based on are now one and the same. A poll we ran a while back shows that fans would want toys of both, as they only share Skystriker designation in name, and are unique enough to differentiate from each other and appreciate on their own. One is a classic, one is the future, both are in demand. The new Tomahawk comes off more as an assault copter now. It is heavily armed just like it's predecessor, and looks like it has enough room for troop carrying capability. As with the classic Skystriker, there is a lot of love here for the A Real American Hero version of the Tomahawk as well. Of any helicopter from ARAH it is arguably the highest in demand for re-release in the modern era G.I. Joe line. Today marks the premiere of G.I. Joe Resolute, and we may possibly see these aircraft in action, so stay tuned! In the mean time, click on the title bar to take a closer look at these vehicles. Yo joe! |
