The Cobra Viper with swappable head from the Modern Era Viper 5 pack has turned up again on auction site Tao Bao. While officially just another Viper, this 25th Anniversary figure is pretty much an homage to Mercer in the eyes of fans.
This mold uses the original mold with the bent wrists and helmet sans chrome with loose goggles. Fans still want a 5 pack of 25th/Modern Era Vipers, but with the new, "fixed" wrists; the mold used for the Hall of Heroes and Cobra 5 pack. Since there is demand for such a set, could it be on the way? Click on the title bar to see more! |

ACToys Forum Member 王明海 has posted an extensive gallery of the upcoming G.I.Joe Rise of Cobra Desert Rockslide A.T.A.V. with Dusty. We've mirrored the images here which can be viewed by clicking the Title Bar.
Desert Rockslide All Terrain Attack Vehicles (A.T.A.V.) patrol the Desert, looking for Cobra Troopers who dare to approach the G.I.Joe PIT Headquarters. These ultralight ATAVs cruise over dunes and rocky Desert ground with IDW-4 front & rear suspension and a liquid cooled engine. If intruders get too close, the ATAVs head towards them, Missiles armed and ready to Fire! The vehicle comes with Dusty, the G.I.Joe's resident Desert Warfare Trooper. Of interest is the fact that Dusty comes with an exact replica of his ARAH backpack! Once you've checked out the images, talk about'em right here on the HissTank.com Forums! |

Some of the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra exclusive sets have focused on certain scenes from the movie, and the newest Target set is no exception. The G.I. Joe Rescue Mission set is meant to recreate the scenes where Duke is in the arctic, in the custody of M.A.R.S., and later on when the Joes raid a M.A.R.S. sub in an effort to rescue him.
Sure the costumes may not be entirely accurate to what we saw, but it doesn't matter, this set has been sought after and now it's finally available in more areas this month! So why has this set been in demand? It includes a fan-favorite repaint of Resolute Snake Eyes, only with the Paris Pursuit head sculpt. This makes for a slick Snake Eyes figure and one that has quickly become the definitive movie Snake Eyes of the line. Accompanying the 2 Joes are 2 Naval Neo-Vipers. Hit that discuss button to see how this set turned out! |

Bloomberg.com has posted an article with regards to how the sales of G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toys as well as Transformers Revenge of The Fallen toys have raised Hasbro's 3rd quarter profit by 8.8%:
Hasbro Inc., the world’s second- largest toymaker, said third-quarter profit rose 8.8 percent from sales of toys based on the “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe” movies. Net income rose to $150.4 million, or 99 cents a share, from $138.2 million, or 89 cents, a year earlier, the Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based company said today in a Business Wire statement. Revenue declined 1.7 percent to $1.28 billion, driven down by foreign exchange rates. Products based on the films “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” have added to Hasbro’s revenue for the past two quarters. Sales of the action figures were a “lone bright spot” in the retail environment, according to Chris White, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities in Los Angeles. “Looking forward to next year, comparisons get more difficult, as the company will have one big film-oriented product line associated with the release of ‘Iron Man 2’ in early May, as compared to three prominent film entertainment lines -- ‘X-Men,’ ‘Transformers,’ ‘G.I. Joe’ -- this year,” White wrote in an Oct. 14 note. On a currency-neutral basis, net revenue climbed 1 percent. The company reduced spending on research, advertising and other expenses, further bolstering profit. Analysts projected profit of 92 cents a share and sales of $1.33 billion, the average of estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Hasbro rose 83 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $29.52 on Oct. 16 in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The shares have gained 1.2 percent this year. Hasbro reported costs of 3 cents a share from the 50-50 joint venture with Discovery Communications Inc. announced in April. It includes a television network and Web site dedicated to children’s and family entertainment and educational programming. |

We've seen HISS Tank member SuperFlanker do some damage before, years back with his custom BBI 1/18 F/A-18C Hornet, and more award winning pieces. We've seen customize popular G.I. Joe vehicles such as his extensive Bombcat custom Skystriker XP-14F. The amount of modifications on his pieces is extensive to say the least, the resulting product oft looking far different from what he started with. Most items that go through this man's hands end up more detailed than anyone thought possible.
So his latest custom is a Modern Era SU-33 Flanker-D. It's one hell of an upgrade for the Oktober Guard, and the result is like night and day, compared to the Power Team Elite SU-27 Flanker he started with. It features a mix of scratch built parts, providing a helmet mounted sight for the pilot, an accurate Russian pilot's helmet made with parts from Torpedo and other figures, folding wings, canards, more detailed airbake, resculpted and modified landing gear and doors, and much, much more! Click on the title bar to see more images of the completed model, and hit the discuss button to see his progress from start to finish! |

HISS Tank member Nordland has passed along some rather unsettling news from Hasbro UK about the upcoming, or rather, in limbo, G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra line in the UK:
Thank you for your email. I can confirm that the Rise of the Cobra toy line was released earlier this year, alongside a large scale marketing campaign. Unfortunately though, consumer demand has not been as anticipated, which obviously impacts retail demand too. As a result, retailers haven't moved through the waves on the range as we would have liked. With regards to the Pursuit of the Cobra toy line, we are yet to confirm if this range will be available in the UK. Please contact us again in February/March when we receive on new range information for 2010. With reference to the comments you made with regards to the item, these have been noted and will be forwarded to our Marketing Department. We would like to thank you once again for taking the time to write to us as we welcome our customers' comments and suggestions, as they are invaluable for future improvements. May we thank you for contacting Hasbro and if we can be of any further assistance, either now or in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Kind Regards, ASK HASBRO Hasbro UK Ltd 00800 22427276 Keep those fingers crossed 'Tankers! The Pursuit of Cobra impressed many collectors when unveiled at this year's JoeCon, to some(or maybe most), this line is more exciting than the current Rise of Cobra line. The big question is, will we see it? |

Get ready for a double whammy 'Tankers, if the Pursuit of Cobra In Jeopordy for UK story hasn't rattled your nerves, try this next bit of info on for size. HISS Tank member Phweep has passed along info that the G.I. Joe Collector's Club has been sending out emails to members stating that the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra wave 3 alpha vehicles have been cancelled by Hasbro until further notice. Hasbro says this wave may see the light of day next year. To further refresh your memories, the vehicles from wave 3 include:
Another thing to ponder, is if more items could be cancelled. Of all the vehicles in the line, the alpha vehicles seem to be ones that move the least. This is something witnessed all across the board. The bravo vehicles have tended to sell better, yet have they sold well enough so that upcoming bravo vehicles will not share the same fate as the wave 3 alpha vehicles? Of all the vehicles in the line, the Wolf Hound AKA Snow Cat and Cobra Fury AKA Cobra Rage are anticipated the most. Site sponsor BigBadToyStore does have preorders open for the wave 3 alpha vehicles; could ordering the vehicles online be one of the only routes to take until next year? |

Thanks to D-Drive, HISS Tank has just received a high resolution image of the upcoming Cobra Fury with Alley-Viper from G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra. This bravo class vehicle is a retool of the vintage Cobra Rage, and comes with a gray Alley-Viper repaint, possibly as an homage to the 1997 release, which was exclusive to Toys 'R' Us.
This highly anticipated release is sure to be one of the top vehicles of the line, showing that classic vehicles still have relevance today. Click on the thumbnail to the left to take a closer look! |
