Sad news to report - Mr. Jeremy Dale has passed away. If you are unfamiliar with the name, in 2007, Dale was brought on as illustrator of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero 25th Anniversary comics written by series creator Larry Hama for Hasbro. The comics were included with the two-character comic packs released starting in 2008.
The following was posted by Mrs. Kelly Dale: It is with great difficulty that I share with you this awful news. Late in the evening of November the third, my husband Jeremy Dale passed away. He was hospitalized, and surrounded by his friends. His doctors say he passed without pain or suffering. Jeremy’s passing was sudden, and a shock to everyone. The delay in sharing this sad news was so that we could contact Jeremy’s family and close friends. Final arrangements are still being made, and will be shared on Jeremy’s Facebook page as details come together. Our thanks go out to everyone for the outpouring of love and concern. Condolences may be shared on Jeremy’s Facebook page for the time being; this will be the same place where we will post any information regarding memorial services, funerals, and other plans. For the time being, I ask that all friends and colleagues with questions, or concerns beyond expressing their condolences, reach out to Joe Peacock and Allison Sohn for answers and information. Immediate family can and should contact me directly- you know how to reach me. Jeremy loved you all very much- he appreciated your support and your friendship. Thank you so much for your understanding during this very difficult time. -Kelly Joe Peacock: joe@joepeacock.com Allison Sohn: alisohn71@yahoo.com... [Read More] |

We'd like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you that has served, will serve, or supports someone who does. It's thanks to your sacrifices that we have the freedom to enjoy the simple things in life, like toys.
I'd like to quote a speech from former President Ronald Reagan, given at a Veterans Day Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in 1988 - PRESIDENT REAGAN: Those who live today remember those who do not. Those who know freedom remember today those who gave up life for freedom. Today, in honor of the dead, we conduct ceremonies. We lay wreaths. We speak words of tribute. And in our memories, in our hearts, we hold them close to us still. Yet we also know, even as their families knew when they last looked upon them, that they can never be fully ours again, that they belong now to God and to that for which they so selflessly made a final and eternal act of devotion. We could not forget them. Even if they were not our own, we could not forget them. For all time, they are what we can only aspire to be: giving, unselfish, the epitome of human love -- to lay down one's life so that others might live. We think on their lives. We think on their final moments. In our mind's eye, we see young Americans in a European forest or on an Asian island or at sea or in aerial combat. And as life expired, we know that those who could had last thoughts of us and of their love for us. As they thought of us then, so, too, we think of them now, with love, with devotion, and with faith: the certainty that what they died for was worthy of their sacrifice -- faith, too, in God and in the Nation that has pledged itself to His work and to the dream of human freedom, and a nation, too, that today and always pledges itself to their eternal memory. Thank you. God bless you.... [Read More] |

A bit of interesting speculation is surfacing that revolves around supposed talks between Hasbro and DreamWorks Animation, a division of DreamWorks Studios. According to one article that has surfaced on Deadline, Deadline reports that "DreamWorks Animation is deeply engaged in two potentially game changing negotiations that could transform the company — including one with Hasbro to forge a family entertainment powerhouse to be called DreamWorks-Hasbro." The report claims that this deal is at least 60 days off, if it even happens, while both companies are not commenting on the matter and dismissing as rumor and speculation. You can read the full article here for more details.
You may recall that DreamWorks was involved in the production and distribution of the live action films Transformers (2007) and Revenge of the Fallen, while being somewhat involved in a lesser role with Dark of the Moon. It's not totally inconceivable that these two companies could potentially be in business discussions. The biggest question circling around this rumor for now: what does this mean exactly? Is this Hasbro shifting away from physical toys and moving towards more entertainment routes? Will there now be more opportunities for Transformers toys? Are Transformers animation films now more plausible? Time will tell, as for now this should be treated as a rumor. Speculate away HISSTANK!... [Read More] |

1987 was an amazing year - The line brought us most of the line up from the G.I.Joe A Real American Hero animated movie and a massive playset in the form G.I.Joe Defiant Space Shuttle Complex. Hasbro had more up it's sleeve for the boys segment that year, introducing us to what has always been a personal favorite line of mine, the Visionaries: Knights Of The Magical Light.
Visionaries told a story of society where technology/Electronics have failed and they, the people of Prysmos, have had to return to the old ways of Magic. This pits two groups of Knights - the Heroic Spectral Knights against the evil Darkling Lords. The line also had direct media tie ins in the forms of a 30 minute cartoon and a comic. Visionaries also had it's own gimmick: Heavy use of holograms, used to portray that characters magic abilities. The figures, being made by Hasbro, had very similar articulation to our beloved G.I.Joe figures. The line was amazing and thanks to Hisstank.com forum member OverkillWipeout, there's now a Collectors Guide Kickstarter Campaign in the works that will capture this short lived, but highly appreciated line of Figures, Vehicles and accessories. What will the guide cover? This Kickstarter projects aim is to produce a printed collector’s guide, a reference book for the toy line depicting the figures, vehicles and accessories that saw release, their incorporated play/action features and card back character information (5th Nov. update) as well as include details and images of the unreleased 1988 line thanks to community contributions. The publication will be a 56-page (subject to change) 195 x 135 mm full-color paperback perfect bound book, printed on uncoated recycled stock and featuring a two color blinding florescent front and back cover! The team behind the Guide have already received permission of use from Hasbro to produce the publication based upon the license. They have also brought on Mr. Bob Hall, whose previous work you may be familiar with from both Marvel and DC comics as well as Valiant/Acclaim. Mr. Hall has been commissioned to produce some snazzy cover art. You can check out more details of the Kickstarter, and share any questions you may have after the break!... [Read More] |

Take a look at this amazing custom 50th Anniversary G.I.Joe Arctic S.L.A.M. tank by Hisstank.com forum member tommyboyhiss! So, listen to this - Not only is this his first custom, but the guy knocked it out of the park with the inclusion of an Arctic Environment Dio as well! Before we get in to that, let's talk about the S.L.A.M. (Strategic Long-Range Artillery Machine)
The attention to detailed invested in this small, yet versatile piece of battlefield equipment is immediately noticeable. From painted controls to hand painted camo, Tommy really did pay attention to every detail you could think of. For those of you that remember the SLAM, those little orange missiles were a thing of nightmares, as they'd always fall off and some how magically sprint across the room, fitting in to the smallest opening they could find. The Arctic SLAM's missiles are individually painted, so it's crew of G.I.Joe 50th Anniversary Snow Job and a custom 50th Anniversary G.I.Joe Arctic Flint will have a tough time losing them in the snow while anchoring the SLAM's Stabilizer Legs in to place. The backdrop created here is amazing, simulating a real Arctic (or some parts of Michigan) Environment. From snow to trees to an 50th Anniversary G.I.Joe Arctic Skyhawk waiting for deployment, this custom really does have something for everyone. You can check out more pics and share your thoughts after the break!... [Read More] |

Well, that ended just as quickly as it started. Earlier this week, we reported that Dreamworks Animation and Hasbro were in merger talks.
Now, the New York Times has reported that Hasbro is noted to have ended talks with Dreamworks Animation. Apparently a sharp decrease in Hasbro's shares after the announcement on Wednesday, alongside a negative private reaction from Disney were enough to shelf any kind of merger talks. So on that note, it looks like we won't be getting any Shrek vs. G.I.Joe Crossovers anytime soon. What are your thoughts on this latest development? Join the ongoing discussion after the break.... We wanted to give you a heads up on a Quality Control issue that a few Hisstank.com forum members have come across so far. If you are a fan and collector of the Kre-O G.I.Joe line, then chances are you have been collecting the blind pack Kreons.
Well, you'll want to take special care with/of your Kre-O G.I.Joe Wave 4 Tripwire. Several reports (including one from yours truly) note that Tripwire's "hose" is snapping right at the base of the ball joint that connects to Tripwire's back pack. So far, there have been no reported issues with the Kre-O G.I.Joe Wave 5 Cobra Tele-Viper that shares a similar construction. Have you experienced this QC Issue?
