It's a freakin' Goblin Slayer. For all Middle Earthlings, here it is, in case ya missed it.

Idk the show or whatevs. It doesn't matter to me if I know a show/movie/comic, or a character, or even care about them one way or the other. I mostly like figures for what they are as a figure. Awww, how sweet, that sounded lame.
I'll buy it if I think it looks cool or interesting, that's it. That's mostly it...mostly.

Personally, my mind melted when I saw this. Blurry vision, hot sweats, hand to head, fake crying. I'm glad I don't know the show, I can make up my own bio of a badass medieval dude.

It's double nice to see figures like this make it past the armies of Super-heroes and other mass franchises. Not that there is anything wrong with those, I love them.

No, that sounds perfect. Please keep that attitude, in this case especially. Don’t look up the show, the manga book series it is based on or the fandom. Just enjoy this as a nice knight-like adventurer figure.

I wish I could. But after I first saw the prototype of this figure I had to check out the manga along with the first episode of the anime. And if that wasn’t enough to turn me off I had to witness the reaction it caused among the disgusting side of the internet as well.

For me personally this figure is simply not desirable anymore, so whatever you do: Enjoy the figure as is, don’t bother looking up the source material. Better quit this thread while you’re ahead too, I know exactly what it will spiral into before poor Joe has to take valuable time out of his day too clear it and/or lock it for good.

If you ever feel like living under a rock with your decision in collection, let me remind you that in a good amount of cases it's a rock worth living under.

I think a lot of the "outrage" over Goblin Slayer is actually designed to sell it. It's described as "brutal" and extremely dark etc, but it's pretty tame compared to anime from the 80's/90's. Ninja Scroll, Devilman, Baoh, Violence Jack, Geno-Cyber and Berserk are just a few titles, at least a few of which that are considered classic, are all more violent, brutal etc.

I think it's just darker and more violent than a lot of the anime/manga that gets released now. Goblin Slayer is a Dungeons & Dragons -type manga, where the enemies actually do really bad things. It's definitely violent and I can see where it wouldn't be for everyone, but it's not like the anime equivalent of A Serbian Film.

I like Berserk. Devilman Crybaby was amazing.

There is a place and a reason for depicting extreme violence, Goblin Slayer has neither. It really is just out to shock people and that annoys me. It’s a shame too because the setup is rather entertaining.

I looked up this show after seeing this awesome figure, thinking it might be some kind of Dark Souls-esque Anime.....eeeehhhhh NOPE. Avoid the show. DO NOT BRING YO KIDS. It's basically "Bad monsters make VERY bad things happen to good people,(and foolish inexperienced adventurers)" the Anime. I glanced at it but basically this dude's lifelong mission is to kill as many monsters (mainly goblins) as he can until he's dead because...reasons. I dunno maybe they killed his parents or something. Batman-level revenge shit. The monsters *ahem* "propagate" by STEALING OUR WOMENS and doing [unmentionable things] to them. Our armor-clad here Hero keeps a virgin(this is important) wizard girl around with him in his adventuring party of 4-ish? people(there's an old guy and a talking lizard man) because APPARENTLY IN THIS UNIVERSE(and I'm not making this up) sleeping in the same bed with her heals his wounds like he's goddamn Deadpool each day because...magic??? And that's definitely part of his plan because he fights these monsters each time until he's pretty much at the brink of death and beaten to a bloody pulp. Problem is, if in a future battle, his VIRGIN wizard girl gets [redacted] by goblins(like what happened to his last female wizard adventuring companion), then she's utterly useless to him, the heal spell wont work, and he'll succumb to any fatal wounds he'd get from said future battle. So that's Goblin Slayer in a nutshell! Yeah...just buy the cool knight figure. So yeah, avoid everything else associated wit it.

And while I'm reminded of it, WHY THE HELL DO WE STILL NOT HAVE ANY DEMONS/DARK SOULS ACTION FIGURES?!?!?! IT'S BEEN 9 YEARS FromSoftware! 9 YEARS!!!!! UURGH!!!

Oh man, that actually sounds like a really cool premise! I'm going to have to check that out.

Figure is just okay though...looks like something out of Monster Hunter I guess. I'm all for getting cool looking figures strictly for the sake of them looking cool-not knowing their backstory or familiar with the franchise- but this doesn't do it for me in that regard.

When I googled it I wasn't sure if it was actually, like, it. So many shows/art gets twisted around on the internet. Like that Deviant art thing. I couldn't find anything different so I stopped.

Thanks for letting me know, thanks everybody for the posts. I'll keep living under a rock for this one. One more fig I can make shit up for. Which is actually hard to do considering practically everything figure related is famous stuff.

I'm uneasy when it comes to seeing women in those scenerio's. I could barely watch clockwork orange at a halloween party a few years ago. When I was in college, it's like, "that movie is great, stanely kubrick yaaa, cool" It's a poignant film, it reflects life, whether we like it or not...But a real horror to spectate.

Maybe in fairness to the comic, if I wanted a goblin slayer to ever slay goblins, I would want it to be those goblins, right? Maybe that's the point?
It's one thing to talk about these bad deeds, but when you see it, it's very real, and you feel like, yeah kill those guys, like now, hurry up. Hopefully that's where the slayer prevails.
In lord of the rings and hobbit they are killing orcs just the same. Those orcs are probably doing the same kind of horrible stuff like the Dothraki in GOT. They actually show that stuff.

Personally, I'll keep my main man G. Slayer out of the goblins den and keep it clean. Hobbit level stuff. I.E. The goblins kill us if we don't give up our gold, boom, done. Justification to kill goblins, with the blood, and smashing, and "oh no my guts are outside my body", lol.

I'm hoping for some great goblin figs next. It's so tough to get medieval fantasy stuff like this!!

Whoa, I'm so surprised to see all the hate for Goblin Slayer... Personnaly it's one of the best manga I've read last year. I've been playing D&D on my school days, and if you go past the quite cruel first chapter, the rest of the story is great.
I love the fact that it's fantasy from the point of view of the average people, not the necromancer-slaying heroes of the legend.

As for the figure, I've seen the actual prototype in Japan, and it's amazing. The color, the paint, the articulations... one of the best Figma to come!
(Insider news: The company behing Figma is actually the producer of the anime, so believe me they will put all they have to make a success with this fig)
