Alright homies I roll into any store like a boss. My swagger attracts millions. My game face is like that last boss from Tekken 3 circa 98. So anyways I was in toys r us lately. Gotta look at the goods ya know. Until I saw something... While galavanting past the action figure aisle and endcaps, I noticed Thor movie toys. In abundance. These have been accurately and thoroughly discussed in my TSWS column here at The Toyark. I noticed a huge ass number and symbol. I think to myself, "the audacity..it speaks to me". Then I busted out laughing. ALL THOR TOYS 5% OFF That's right folks. That is the lowest percent off I have ever seen on a sale. I'm a superstar I can't make this S%&* up!

Great intro, haha, had me cracking up with your swagger walking into TRU. I picked up a Frost Giant because it was a buck off at Target but cant say that 5% off will attract me to pick up any of those IMO poorly made figures. |

Dude I run toys r us. I just can't find new stuff because they want me to keep coming in. It's the proverbial carrot being dangled. 5% off is like taking a chip out of a chocolate cookie...I was in there like dude is this even a sale at all? LOL

Lol funny you talk about this today, SHin! I saw the same thing and I was like, "Not worth it." Then I saw the GL toys prices and I was like, "Ok maybe they were worth it." |

5%. That a f**king insult. Saving 40c on an $8 figure. Keep the change.

I can't help but hear Rattrap's voice when I read your post, Shin. lol! Polishing an apple on your shirt, while leaning against a sign post.

5%? That doesn't even cover the tax. LOL! But yeah, they do that. This does suggest more sales are coming though. They tend to get their feet wet before doing thole buy 2 for 10 type deals. |

Pretty much, but it doesn't give back the time I lost from my swagger strolling past the sign then taking 2 steps back to do a double take at the sign.

To answer someone's question, Destroyer is not out yet, he's part of the 2nd and 3rd wave of Thor figures. Now back to the topic at hand, I had a good chuckle reading your pimp walk intro, I too have a swagger when I enter the isles, I make the crap toys just burst into flames from my sheer awesomeness, leaving only worthy toys on the pegs lol. 5% is a joke, my local Zellers same as your Target has sales more or less a clearance isle with everything from shitty kids stuff, to Mcfarlane sports figures, tron, Hanna Barbara toys like the flinstones, yogi bear, or movie figures from the Avatar movie, not the sexy blue cats the creepy bald kid with the permanent marker arrow on his forhead, who reminds me of the Golden child kid lol, but all these toys are like $50cents or 1-2$ off which is insulting, something regular $25 on clearance for $23 is no clearance by any means, I would buy the 12'' sam flynn figure if he goes on for $10, I've seen Walmart have the 6'' Tron figures for $10 and the little guys for $5. but meh... Winners had the sick tron car for $10 snagged it.

Yeah, I can't fathom what on earth possessed them to run such a pathetic sale on opening week when they've already run better sales (2 for $10.99). The electronic hammer was 25% off, though. A little worried that the backlog is already kicking in. I was almost sure that the second wave would hit before the movie was out (with the Destroyer and the Warriors Three). Looking like that's not going to be the case now. |

When I saw the sale sign I thought someone must have forgot the 0. 50% off is about what it's going to take to put a dent in those stacks of the same figures packed with different pop-out swords they so heavily stocked up on. I hope there's at least going to be a Loki with a crazy ass horny helmet. Although, if I find a Frost Giant set at Walmart that'll be my MU Loki.

Well friends, the insult is great, but the answer is really simple: They do it because there will always be people that will buy them; the same reason why a dude will sell for $30-$50 a $7 figure at ebay. Call it a granny, uncle or parent looking for a crappy kids toy or a person that simply likes them, they will end up selling. Unfortunately, they are more than us and kind of less informed, so as long as they keep buying there is not much we can do. Prices will go higher, discounts smaller and smaller...yady-yady-yada, you know the rest. |

I saw that sale the other day and couldn't help but chuckle. Although the image of Shin walking down the aisle, getting his swagga on....priceless. That sale reminds me of Walmart's pathetic attempts to trick us into thinking a regularly-priced toy is on "Clearance" just because they gave it a red price sticker. I saw it with two of their exclusives: the ROTF/NEST Scout 2-packs and with the HFTD voyager/deluxe 2-pack exclusives. Every time I see them with that red sticker and the same price as when it first came out, I always mutter "That's not what clearance means, gawd!" all Jon Heder style.

just to add a good note to an actual sale, has anybody gone to the new marveltoyshop site lately? they have the comic 2 packs on for $9.50, bunch of hard to find IM2 figures such as the new wave, whiplash and drones for the regular $10, and a bunch of Marvel Select figures. Marvel Select IM2 War Machine and Iron Man on for $14.50, now this is stuff worth buying.
