I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I came to realize something.
I think what makes the 3.3/4" figures look so off, isn't that they lack knee and elbow joints. It's that their limbs are sculpted so unnaturally stiff. There arms and legs are just as stiff and straight down as they can possibly be, and it's just so extremely unnatural.
When you stand still with your arms at your sides, in a relaxed position, there is a natural bend in your elbow, and a slight one in your knees. I mean, we did come from squat, quadrepedal animals, after all.
I've only got three figures from this line so far, Kilowog, Isamot, and Ranakar. Of the three, Kilowog looks the least natural, because of how stiff and straightly he's sculpted. While the Guardian, and Isamot all have a more relaxed and slightly more natural feel to them.

I get the feeling that the sculptors intended a greater range of motion for some of these but it got nixed to cut costs.

This line looks like it's going to be a bust - just like Thor. I doubt once GL opens the line will move then either. Captain America looks like the only one of the 3 that will do much toy business this summer.

Do you have more than your opinion to back this up with? Because from what I've seen, GL is moving out of my local stores at a far better pace than all competing lines. DotM has saturated and is already stagnating. Thor has never movied. Cap barily does. MU isn't moving at all. Neither is DCUC.

But the 3.3/4 GLs are constantly going down and getting restocked. Even the Movie Masters are moving better than I ever thought they would.

Yeah, these are already clogging the pegs at my local stores. They're not moving at all. After "The Dark Knight" Movie Masters debacle, I'm playing it safe and preordering these off BBTS.com.

Huh. down here it's the GL figures cloggng the pegs (with that "snot monster Parallax" big toy bing the worst offender). The Thor line never did much but the Cap line has been selling out- except the lame variants like "cap with winter coat" or "cap with riot gear". Mostly it's the wave 2 cap moving like hotcakes- showing that comic version figures sell better than actor-likeness figures every time. That was the killer on the Thor line, I think.

The biggest loser of the year is definitely Tron, followed by Pirates of the Carribbean- which I dont think has sold more than the one figure I bought (just for her head to customize). That entire display at my local target is stuffed full and has been since they put it up a month ago.

I think that the Pirates figures are kind of cool, and I would like to eventually pick them up when they are clearanced out. I noticed that Target carries a sweet box set with every character, so I'll hold out for that one. As far as the Tron figures, they have occasionally been discounted pretty deeply, but that didn't seem to do much for sales. As far as the Green Lantern stuff, I've only been interested in the Kilowog figure, but I hate the green puke color of his costume. I noticed the deluxe version of the figure has a more appealing color scheme, but that isn't worth the extra cash. Anyway, I don't see any of these figure lines doing very well, but I'm glad they are at least trying.Kids have to rely on their parents to buy this stuff, and they would probably save that cash for a video game or a Nerf gun. Toy quality needs to increase, and prices need to drop. If we are having these figures made over seas, then what is with the price?

Huh. I've always found it interesting in how things sell differently in different parts of the country.

In my personal town, I'm like the only collector. At the walmart, it seems everything else sells to kids (Which is both good and bad. If they're hot on something, then it gets replenished pretty well, and makes finding collectors figures easy. If they don't, then the line stagnates until it's reduced.)

When I branch out to all the other reasonable places, I have 5 other walmarts, one target, and one TRU that comes into a reasonable range. I go out that way, it changes, and the other lines start selling down too. But at least still in this area of north texas, Green Lantern moves very well.

However on messageboards, I think a lot of people tend to use their personal opinions about a line to judge how well it is or isn't selling (I'm not saying, or accusing you that you're one), and they often completely ignore the kid factor.
And Tron is doing so poorly in my area, I even actually forget that line exists!

I'm basing my viewpoint on ony five stores, so that's a pretty small sampling- three Targts and two Toys R Us, but I have definitely noticed that diffrent parts of the country sell diffrently and get waves of figures at diffrent time and with different dispersal.
That Thanos wave and the revision cases for example- Thanos wave was impossible to find for a long time down here- so much so that i blew $25 online for my thanos and felt happy to have gotten him,
then my area was one of the first to get revision cases- saw Thanos several times and scored Vision, Daredevil and Warpath variants that first week!

I think a lot of it depends on the time of year- summr being a bonanza for new lines and new waves...but fall might go from feast to famine with wave 4 and 5.

I live in NH and I am still waiting on some released from 5+ months ago. We are always last to get stuff.. makes it terrible to hunt.

I haven't seen the first GL figure disappear from shelves at my local stores other than the one I bought. And I visit several stores a day. That may change once the movie hits, but for now it doesn't look like kids OR collectors in my area are interested in the line. Same for DotM and Pirates.

Thor moved fast when it first came out and was restocked several times. Now the leftovers are just sitting there. Cap has already been restocked several times too, and is starting to slow down. MU singles disappear instantly, except for re-re-releases and Iron Man figures. Comic pack re-releases are currently clogging, though.

Same here, those pegs look as full as the 1st day they put them out. The toys look like they're really going to bomb!

not all of them. i cant defend it because i havent seen it myself. but ive seen some reviews from normal people (i.e. not the miserable critics whos job it is to moan about every little thing)

ive see other reviews where people have said it was very good too. i cant say i really like the idea of mr camp ryan reynolds as hal but i will have to see the movie to form an opinion.

i would rather be optimistic and grateful they have made a film of this after wanting one for so many years. everyone has said the CGI is amazing and so it should be.

i wouldnt even bother reading any review by someone that doesnt know anything about the comics or doesnt really like superhero films, you can tell in the first few lines what type of person they are.

but then on the other hand, you will get fan boys that will slam it for not being 100% accurate.

we will just have to see what we think...

already got my tickets for tomorrow night!
