I have actually had good luck with K-Mart in the past and with how flooded stores are with the first waves, I am afraid it will hinder me seeing these. Where I live, we get shafted for figures. We will get them months after everyone else.... I still am searching for a RTS Wreck-Gar and Preceptor, and I bet I will never find MU Cable.

It's like we're all standing outside a broken Port-A-John telling people not to go in because it's a disaster, but people keep insisting on seeing for themselves. |

Well I find it hopeful that K-Mart has the only available pictures of these figures. We'll see what comes from this... again, I have had good luck with kmart in the past where others haven't. I also experience the complete opposite with Hasbro Toy Shop. I have had nothing but bad experiences from them while most people I talk to love them.
EDIT: Just received this e-mail from k-mart. Looks like they realized they jump the gun... oh well. "We apologize, an error occurred while processing your order. The order has been canceled. We invite you to contact us at 1-877-235-9959 so we can assist you in placing a new order." Last edited by blasekbh; 05-18-2011 at 05:09 PM.. |

Found the light-up figures last night at my Target. Picked up just the Hal, the feature is pretty nifty as it has a slight flickering action like the suit has a beating heart or something. Looks very awesome in the dark.

The only thing of what's out I don't think I haven't found yet is the Construct Copter from Wal-Mart.

I bought Movie Masters Naut Kei Loi and he has TEARS/RIPS on his skin. I don't see this happening a lot, and if you're a collector, I don't think you have too much to worry about but I'd be remiss not to mention this. If a kid gets their hands on it and is rough with it however...

Also, I saw the Construct Copter...it is not big enough to fit a figure inside. Turns into an AH-64 Apache-esque construct.

![]() THIS is how parallax should look! ![]() maaan...I'm a HUGE Gren Lantern fan too. This makes me sad. I can only hope the movie looks better than the figs and that the movie's success prompts a line of nicely articulated 3.75" comic series GL Corps figures (I know I'm dreaming, but still...). |

After seeing the new 3D trailer for GL, I have to admit, I really like the look of Parallax in this film. Sure it's not exact to the source material, but in the end, as much as ideas change in comics (especially considering the Parallax entity seems like an afterthought to give a reason to redeem Hal Jordan back to a hero character, not that it's a bad idea, it was just conceived of later), I find it easier to enjoy a different interpretation of a character as long as at heart it's still similar.

It's weird- marvel has been so sucessful by keeping as faithful as reasonable to their characters while DC opts for letting the director set the look and faithfulness to the source material- often a hit or miss way of doing things. |

Especially when every lantern in the comic's ring is pretty individualized and different from the next one. If anything, the movie Power Rings look more iconic to me, than the more typical generic ring that most background characters get. And from what I've seen so far, everything else looks pretty recognizable, too. They did a much better job converting the comic into "real" than Bay did with Transformers. Quote:

Movies of marvel properties have the worst track record of them all, in maintaining faithfulness to the source material. I think so far, only Ironman has managed to capture the true spirit of the source character. The next best, Spiderman looks extremely faithful, but much of his personality was completely forsaken. In fact, most of what I hear about marvel comic movies is how *unfaithful* they always are. I mean, look at X3, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, Punisher... DC's well on it's way to redeeming itself. Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight are the most faithful comic movies to date. At least, that I can think of. Green Lantern does one further with Geoff Johns as it's exec producer (I could only wish that Simon Furman had that kind of imput over the TF movies). To me, this is looking to be a really good adaptation. And as for looks, while I don't like the lantern battery itself, I've been pleased with the alien designs. Most look far less silly than their comic counterparts, while keeping them recognizable. Only Medphyl and Naut have had dramatic redesigns, which was for the better. Unlike most comic movies, so far everything I've seen has only steadily encreased my confidence in this movie. I feel sorry that it's done the opposite for you. But I don't think the future is as bleak as you do.

I sure hope that's the case- that the heart of it is still there- because a lot of the iconic imagery is not there for me- the Lanterns, the Rings, the Central battery- all of those have been "re-imagined" to the point of near unrecognisability.
It's weird- marvel has been so sucessful by keeping as faithful as reasonable to their characters while DC opts for letting the director set the look and faithfulness to the source material- often a hit or miss way of doing things. And if anything, the fact that these suits are CGI seems faithful at least to me in that they look like they are generated by light and energy. Something I can see flicker or fade away if the user loses the ring, as seen in various GL comics over the years. Yeah, it's not a straight copy from the books, but it's clearly Green Lantern. I think the comparison to Marvel is a bit unfair because they've been off in look just as much as they have been on point. Look at the X-Men movies. X2 is fantastic, but a lot of things "look" different than what's in the comic. Spider-Man 2 is one of the best "comic book films" but Doctor Octopus is different from his comic counterpart is some significant ways. But that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Just about every comic book movie ever made has significant changes to the story and the look, but thing to keep in mind is that the way they tell and pace a story is different. They take their shot in a 2 hour format. And and the same time, just like every comic writer and artist has done since the beginning, they want to put their own mark on the character. Whether it be changing the costume or introducing new supporting characters, the stories and the looks are always changing. How many times have the origin stories of popular characters been changed, rewritten, and updated? A movie adaption is similar in that way. |

Of course, these are movies, not comics, and they have their own universes. As far as I'm concerned, as long as the filmmakers get the basics right, I can usually roll with whatever else they change. The GL figures, on the other hand, are weak except for Movie Masters.

Board member "DarkestKnight" should be considered a Green Lantern Toy Guardian for saving MM Hal in his darkest hour by buying him from me.
Thanks!
