hey everyone, recent discussions on the 3.75 thread got me thinking, this year we should do a collection for less fortunate kids, here is my proposal: we all donate a minimum of one figure (loose or packaged) to a pot, to deliver to a kid somewhere that wouldn't normally get access to these figures. I know the ark has folks from all over the world, so we crowd source for our target, put up a pic of the worthy kid, or kids if you know a group home or orphanage, send in pics, or a story, or both, we post pics of our contribution, we do a vote for which kid to give to, and we send them off to the member who's selection we vote on by sat Dec 10th. on Christmas, or whatever holiday the chosen kid celebrates, that member delivers the loot pile to some mind blown kid for no apparent reason! I think if we all come together we could make some kid, or kids Christmas.

I've been wanting to do this for some time, but during SDCC.
We have a homeless problem in the Downtown area where SDCC is held and a lot of times I see homeless children or low income families doing the freebie stuff outside. The looks on some of these kids faces kinda gets to me.
I have, on several occasions, given away some of the freebie stuff I get all around SDCC and put it in a SDCC bag. There are many kids that live in tents under the freeway passes and it's heart wrenching.

I myself dont have much but I have more than some. I would totally be into this. Sign me up.
I'd also like to maybe do this for next years SDCC. I mean what better place than SDCC, filled with superheroes.

I suggest not using the term "Child Hunt"

(clearance) Toys For The People In Need!

Anyways, I was thinking about sending some Gi Joe gun lot first of all. What's the point of figures without some weapons? Also, kids these days tend to idolize Deadpool a lot so I guess some Deadool would be cool.

anyone got a kid in mind yet? remember folks, any figures any scale, loose or packaged, were not out to be picky. if we do this right WE can BE Santa, I'd really like it if a member who knows or lives close to the kid could deliver the haul to them on Christmas, if your up to it dress up like Santa, or drop it anonymously in a sack, that would be awesome. I live in the US, namely Tennessee, (I'm not from here, so don't read my posts with a southern twang) there are poor people all over, but I'd love it if we could reach someone who really needs it, not someone's who's just "I can't get them all" poor, but "what's this amazing thing" poor. maybe even throw in some comics, and anything else a kid could need. I'm going to donate quite a few figures, as well as some cash for whoever picks the kid to buy local things, or just give the kid some walking around money. I know there are a lot of charity's out there, and a guy could go broke giving to every cause, but this will be a no overhead, no bullshit way to help one kid, and blow there mind! This could be something that changes a kids life and lets them believe in goodness. find a good kid that deserves this, lets do it...

Unfortunately I do not know any kid personally or within reach that this would benefit. Like I mentioned, I only see these types of kids during SDCC walking around.
Maybe I could go to a few local comic shops and ask if they know of any kids that come in and 'wishful window shop'.

Maybe contact a charity for sick kids. Surely there is a super Avenger fan that would love them.

Ya, which type of kid is the target here. I mean, are we looking for a kid who likes the Marvel movies or some hardcore Marvelite at a children's hospital?

I know this might sound rude, but the sick kid at the hospital is probably getting attention already, it seems like every other week I see Star Lord, Cap, Hawkeye, and a lot of others visiting sick kids in person, Hell it was in the news a couple weeks ago where this little boy who lost an arm was visited by RDJ, in character as Stark and given a state of the art prosthetic arm that looked like Iron Mans! I'm not saying they don't deserve attention, But I think they already get a lot, I'd like to find a kid that's off the grid, someone who slips through the cracks. possibly someone who's not even been really exposed to marvel yet. The problem with most charities is they'll just divide it up amongst a bunch of kids, (and I can recall more than one instance of large charities having workers take things home for there own kids or Ebay). I'll give you an example, I'm a mail man, last year I picked up two letters from these little girls on my rout who line in a pretty rough trailer that's a subdivided rental, I'm not dogging on them, I'm just saying they're very poor. the letters (with no stamps) were to Santa, they each had a list of things they wanted for Christmas. and a sentence explaining they understood why they couldn't get anything last year because they moved. I can not convey how sad it was with written words. So me and my parents split the list, bought everything. (you know a kids really poor when the first things they ask for are shoes and socks) plus some I pods, a few things that weren't on the list, and things I'd like to have if I was a kid now. I wrote a note (from Santa of course), apologizing for last year, and thanking them for being good kids. and dropped it off in three large boxes on Christmas eve (as the Mail man of course) having post marked the boxes from the north pole. to this day neither they or there mother know who it was or why.

That's awesome and applaud you for doing that.

I'll see if any local shops have kids that continuously window shop and see what can be done there.
