This is mostly for Gundam Fans. Anybody still watching Gundam Age? I'm up to episode 33, and I have to say it's getting harder and harder to watch this crap. It just seems so shallow and boring. I know it's geared towards kids, but even a kid can tell how boring this Anime is. From what I read online, the ratings are the worse for a Gundam series in the last 10 years. At this point, I'm just waiting for this crap to end so the Next Gundam series can come along. It has 17 more episodes left, I don't know if I can last that long.

More shallow than the whiney, angsty teens of Gundam Wing?
More unwatchable than G Gundam? (home of the windmill Gundam of Eternal Shame)

That's pretty bad.

Still, chin up- anything, and I do mean explosive diarrhea- beats sitting through Blue Gender.

What?

Wing had some decent moments, and g gundam was over the top goofy action.

Blue gender wasn't bad, main character development was good, even the warrior wasn't.

Gundam Wing: The only real whiney one was Quatra, the rest were stone cold killers. Heero, Duo, and Trowa were my favorites, Wufei was just plain nuts.

G Gundam, I liked some of the battles, mostly when Shining Gundam went Super Saiyan, and the fights with Master Asia.

Never saw Blue Gender.

I'm trying not to hate on Gundam Age, but everything is just sorely substandard to every Gundam Anime I have ever seen.

Gundam 00 is my favorite btw.

08th MS Team- just watch that and pretend the others are alternate universes wherein it makes sense to give unstable, hormonal teens giant death machines, zero supervision and hope for the best.
Like Evangellion- sometimes ya just gotta take the absurd with the apoclyptic and the occasional female eye-candy.

But trust me on this- pass on Blue Gender.

I've heard great things about Gundam 00 but have not seen it- I was at Wal Mart a couple of weeks ago looking for figs and saw they had the entire Robotech series on five disks for only $20 (which should have been a warning, I suppose).
Having grown up missing what eveyone raved about and having admired so many great model builds from that universe, I took the plunge.
I made it almost through the second disk before my eyes started bleeding. My roomate, a connisour of all things awful, is halfway through it and can no longer do higher math.
It's like The Ring- once you see it, you're kinda fucked.

Waiting for the new Space Battleship Yamato series to get the dub- I've watched some in japanese and my roomate knows the story so well that he can translate without speaking the language.

Might introduce this woman I sorta see to Full Metal Alchemist (a favorite for it's horror and humor).

Totally aside from Anime, I contacted Kevin Hopgood last month and commisioned a sketch of the Iron Man of your avatar fighting back to back with War Machine (he designed both in the 90's). I'll post pics when I get it.
I'm looking for the Slayer cast of that armor's helmet- if you should see one, please PM me!

Gundam 00 is great. Basicly it's 4 Gundams Vs the entire World. They want to end all War through force, So they attack and kill both sides, until the entire world hates them, which is part of the plan. It gets complicated after that.

You know they took 3 different Anime and glued them together to make Robotech right, that's why it doesn't make much sense.

It's not so much that- the plot is straightforward enough (for anime, anyway) but the way people behave is just unnatural- and it's the same in Macross- serious one second and implausibly silly the next- like they could not decide what age bracket to write for.
A lot of 80's anime has this weird disconnect- it may be a cultural or translation thing, I guess.
DBZ suffers from it badly- the Cell saga was so cool back then...untill they did life five "Mr. Satan/Hercule" episodes in the middle of the final showdown!

G Gundam was one of those it's so bad it's hilariously good shows. Some of the throwaway Gundams from random countries were just terrible. Most were walking stereotypes like the Mexican and American Gundams. "Look, the East is burning Red!"

Haven't watched any of Gundam Age yet but I haven't heard good things. Still haven't gotten around to Gundam Unicorn and just don't have as much time to sit around and read subtitles as I used to.

The Gundam series have always had their fair share of over emotional characters and even though I like Gundam Seed that one got really frustrating sometimes. The best are probably 8th MS Team, 0083 Stardust Memory, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, and Gundam 00 (Season 1 is great). They all have frustrating episodes but then stuff blows up and it all gets better lol.

Also, I remembered somewhat liking Blue Gender the first time but trying to watch it again was painful.

I've been to Japan, believe me it's cultural.

That always got on my nerves to, Mr Satan/Hercule whatever was so annoying. I just wanted him to shut up and get back to the fighting.

Gundam Unicron looks fantastic, but you really have to know the entire back story of Universal Century to understand it. Gundam Wing got me into Gundam. So I'm completely lost when it comes to the plot, but they have some damn cool battles in it.

Gundam Age, Don't even bother, your not missing a thing. All the main characters look like Toddlers when they are in their Gundams, The female leads are nothing more then Baby factories to deliever the next Male lead character. When charcaters die, you don't feel anything, because they only showed up in 2 or 3 episodes before then. The Badguys the Vagans, are so one dimensional. and stupid. Last episode they set 6 bombs in a Military base, and set the timer for 30 mins. Given the Army plenty of time to remove all of them until the Gundam of course finds the last one, and saves the day. Seriously, Gundam Age most be the more Shallow, Corny Gundam series ever made.
