So, a while back a movie was released called Super. Rainn Wilson plays a disgruntled average joe with a pipe wrench who bashes in the heads of baddies while exclaiming "Shut up crime!" Awesome, check it out.

Sweet. The director is from St. Louis so I went to a premiere of it at a local theater in which he had a Q&A. I really liked the movie, and just recently ordered a copy of it for $6.12 shipped.

It was a bit more twisted though than Kick-Ass but overall interesting. Felt bad for the main character too.

I liked it!

For anyone who enjoys this, I highly suggest:
Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson and Kat Dennings. It's humorous, but not a full comedy like Super. A mentally handicapped man starts dressing as a superhero and fighting crime.
And:
The Specials, it's a movie about the forth or fifth most popular superteam (Depending on which poll you read.)

That girl was Ellen Page, better known from Juno.

Ellen Page is pretty racey in this movie, but Rainn is great too, and Kevin Bacon had his moments. I met the director so I guess I'm 2 degrees from Kevin B. at this point.

No, that wasn't Ellen Page in X3. They changed kitty's between the two movies. Though, I didn't realize it was Page in X2.

That's closer than me! My hair stylist/cutter/barber/whatever growing up was Lee Linley, father of Cody Linley (Actor from Hanna Montana), who was in My Dog Skip, with Kevin Bacon.

This is one of the Best Superhero related movies I've ever seen!

I love how Nathan Fillion acts as his inspiration "The Holy Avenger", and how he's got such a sad and pathetic life but he's happy as he's got his wife, but then all that changes as she goes all weird and just gets taken. (I hate Liv Tyler so she played the role of a total bitch really well!)... then when he goes all Superhero and can't find any crime that is so god damn true, I've never seen any crime in progress ever and someone just starting out as a superhero never would, although they just seem to find it... the scene with the fake beard just made me die laughing, it was so funny!

The fact that Ellen page plays his Sidekick and she's more insane than he is just makes it even better as he's trying to train her even though she gave him all the ideas in the first place, very good dynamic. When it gets down to getting his wife back that's just one kick-ass scene and everything about it is such a shock and it actually hits you really badly, which I think is missing from a lot of films these days, especially superhero films, as you know they're all going to wrap up nicely. But this reminds you that they're just ordinary people wearing silly costumes!

So yeah... well worth the watch! Not quite as epic as Avengers or anything but if you compare it to kickass, while kickass claims to be realistic it's not as grounded as Super and I think you'll like it more!

I actually thought it was mediocre. It had some moments, but I thought it was just ok. Kick Ass was so much better IMO.

It's a low budget film with some big name actors that joined up because they liked the script. You said it was "mediocre" which seems a bit harsh, but I like getting different opinions. This movie is basically about what would happen if a crazy person Put on a costume and hit people with a wrench. It's not exactly Marvel's Captain America... But at least I can sort of see a basis for comparison with Kick Ass.

Anyone see the movie called Boy Wonder? We think it fits in with the same type of movie like Super, Defendor or Kick Ass, only darker.
