The scariest game I've played in recent times is easily the PT for Silent Hills. I don't really care for The Evil Within, just the creatures designs and gameplay are way too Resident Evil for me. The spider-blood-hair monster is pretty freaky, but the safe-head guy (called the keeper apparently) feels way too much like their attempt to create their own version of Pyramid Head. I'm looking forward to Silent Hills though, if it's anywhere near as scary/creepy as the PT then it'll be worth it, hopefully the puzzles are easier for the final game though. Plus it's being made by Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima, so win-win there.
I've wanted for someone to make some good horror game figures for a while, NECA made some "alright" Resident Evil figures way back, but I'm not really into RE. Now Figma is making a Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2, but it's way feckin' high Japanese import price and could have done a lot more to match how it looks in the game.

Silent Hills is definitely highly anticipated.

I love most of NECA's RE efforts, even if the early ones were basically statues with some wonky bodily proportions. The Palisades Resident Evil action figures were superior, though - at least in terms of their monsters. I only have their RE1 Tyrant and the RE2 Mr. X, but they are both incredibly high quality and VERY heavy pieces. Hell, Toybiz even did okay with their early attempts as well - their transforming Birkin and Ivy figures are pretty compatible with the NECA and Palisades items on my shelf. Their humans and zombies are even the same scale as the Walking Dead action figures.

Still, all of that somehow doesn't seem like it's enough. Resident Evil is my favorite game series, though. NECA stopped making use of their RE license just when they were getting it right with RE5 Chris & Sheva. A Wesker with that level of articulation would have been amazing.

Ideally some Evil Within toys would be the same scale as NECA's. They'd fit right in on my Resident Evil shelf that way. I just hope someone like Square Enix aren't the ones who end up doing it. Their Play Arts prices are too high, proportions are usually off and I've never liked the way the joints look. Plus there's the import item cost, like you mentioned.

This is quite older than anything I've posted on the ark before, but now it's relevant enough to share.

Friday the 13th 4 - Now this one is great. Yeah, a lot of the characters are still there just to die, but there is a great amount of development with some of them. Not to mention the Trish and Tommy are the best characters to be featured in the series thus far. The story is well told for what it is and I liked that they have a character who is looking to get revenge for his sister's death at the hands of Jason from one of the previous movies. Another thing I like is this is probably the bests version of Jason on screen as he is just oozing with awesomesauce. I love that he still has the bruise from the axe to the face (even though I wonder how a machete to the face can kill him when an axe couldn't) and he just looked like a threat to everyone. Another aspect I enjoyed is that not everyone was killed on camera, but I really love the creativity in showing the shadow of the one twin being killed instead of just showing her die. It feels like the filmakers went above and beyond what was expected when it came to the deaths. This is a solid entry in the series and if I recall correctly from the other movies, this is the best one in the franchise. I give it a 7.5/10.

Alien: in space no one can hear you scream, but other people in the room could hear me go "eaah!" Firstly we learn that in every movie from the '70s through the '80s lots of bleeping lights indicate advanced technology, true story. Secondly, holy shit I love this movie. A great suspenseful set-up introduces the crew while setting the atmosphere for how claustrophobic and terrifying this ship is about to become. I also find the more analog over digital look of the future presented here quite admirable. Absolutely brilliant effects (it well earned that Oscar for the category), spot-on performances, and Jonesy the cat. This movie also has in my opinion the best movie trailer ever, it tells you very little about the plot of the film and yet it brilliantly sets up the feeling of terror in the movie, the way trailers should be (trailers back then tended to give away way too much). 10/10 for me.
The Thing: John Carpenter is one of my favorite directors and this is his crown jewel for me (and most). Kurt Russell gives a great performance and a beard to be rivaled by the greatest. Keith David makes his film debut. The atmosphere is scarily alone and isolated, the practical effects make CGI heavy films weep, the quote about being tied to the couch is feckin' great and a nice touch of humor, and you always gotta wonder who the thing is throughout every scene in the movie (even on later viewings it can be a thinker to figure it out). Easily another 10/10 from me.

That's it for tonight.

On John Carpenter.... "They Live". Roddy Piper, Keith David.... solid 5 minute fight scene! stylish 80's sunglasses! what more could you want?

Did anyone see the syfy channel remake of Children of the Corn? I herd it was closer to the premise of the book, and a bit more violent.

Every adaptation of Children of the Corn that I've ever seen has been shit. The Syfy version was closer to the book, but the acting was so bad it wasn't even laughable. Young children who are clearly not actors that they got to read lines doesn't come off as a creepy cult, it's a kindergarten play gone wrong.

My favorite John Carpenter films, in order are:
The Thing
Escape From New York
They Live
Big Trouble in Little China
Halloween
Just because Halloween is 5th place doesn't mean I don't love it, pretty much every movie of those five gets at least a 9.5/10 from me.

The Thing - Getting to see this on the big screen was freaking amazing. I have nothing more to say about this movie that I haven't said in the past outside of that it features the two greatest F bombs in cinema history. Carpenter's best movie with a 9/10 stars.

another good Halloween time watch through is The X Files. I think I still have those figures somewhere. I remember the translucent gooey man with exposed organs pack in figure the most, thpose were great.

AMC plays the crap out of the original usually closer to the holiday. Just like nobody plays the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but Syfy has already played the remake like five times.

It's lame, even with Amber Heard and other chicks in there. It's on Netflix if you have that, but not worth your time.

Zombieland - I just flat out love this movie. It is hilarious, has good characters, and the music kicks ass. Not to mention the awesome cameo towards the end of the movie is just amazing. I always go back and forth between whether I like this more than Shaun of the Dead or vice versa, but either way, you cannot go wrong. Although, it is funny to see how many times Tallahassee could have had his Twinkies if he had actually looked more closely as there are bags of them sitting in the Hostess truck on the right side where they don't look and there is a box of them in the super market when he is beating the fat zombies up. I give this rollercoaster ride an 8/10 stars.

I can saw this, The War is definitely the best movie Carpenter has done since In the Mouth of Madness. It is by far better than LA and Ghosts of Mars. Other than that though, it is not that good of a movie.

I had that on preorder from Amazon, but I canceled it on Monday since I really can't afford it.

The thing that gets me about Sean of the dead, and Zombieland is that I think they are far more accurate representations of how I would feel and act in a real Zombie apocalypse. the Romero movies and Walking Dead are too serious and a bit over dramatic. trust me in extreme situations even life threatening "this is it" moments, people are joking and screwing around the most.

I had a teacher in high school that would swear that people acted differently in a job setting and yes in certain situations they do but for the most jokers are jokers and assholes are asshole in any situation

Guys on twitter keep asking if they'll do an AVP movie queen, and to me it's like "Why do you want the version from the shitty movie?"

So, I would like to reiterate my wish for some Evil Within figures. The game unfortunately turns into a pewpewbangbang action-fest at the halfway point, but it's still a fun experience and I'm trying not to let the action bother me. There are plenty of Resident Evil homages/references as well, right down to the KCPD badges looking very much like the S.T.A.R.S. patch.

^^ I made a video of the first chapter, for those who are interested. It's a really challenging game. I must have died 20 times in that first chapter. Didn't think to record the first half of 'em. There aren't any usable weapons at that point.

If you liked Resident Evil 4, you'll like this game. Now that I'm thinking back, it is RE4 nearly beat-for-beat. There's a village early on with a chainsaw-wielding maniac, a "hold the line" sequence with a NPC very much like the cabin with Luis, an encounter similar to the one with Salazar's "right hand", etc. etc. The environments are better this time around, though, with (at least so far) no boring castle or military island. Plus the basic enemies are actually major threats, not cannon fodder.

I'd really like to own some toys of the more notable monsters. Someone is making a statue of Boxman/Keeper, but it's out of my price range.

As for movies, I'm just about to watch Nosferatu for the first time... but something else on Netflix caught my eye. It's a fictional "making of" for Nosferatu, starring John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe. Can't remember the title right now. Only watched the first half so far, but I like it, and it's making me want to see the actual movie that much more.

Sorry for any typos. VERY sleepy.

...This town,
Is coming like a ghost town.

All the clubs are being closed down.

This Place,
Is coming like a ghost town.

Bands won't play no more,
To much fighting on the dance floor.

Do you remember the good old days before the ghost town?
We danced and sang as the music played in a de boom-town...

Song: Ghost Town by "The Specials".

I'm not a Predator fan as far as toy collecting goes. I only like the first movie in the franchise, so if I did buy anything it would only be of the original Predator.

I'm not sure I'm going to buy the runner Alien either, but I do want Bishop. I kind of want Kane, but I'll only buy him if he comes with an alternate head since, as cool as it is to have him face hugged, it is a waste of money if I can't have him normal.

I do want the queen, but I need to know if she can fit in a Detolf case first.
