Isn't that labeled last samurai which means its from the last samurai?

My favorite samurai movie is when the last sword is drawn. Seven samurai is an amazing classic also.

I thought the same thing but that scene is not from the last samurai,I have not heard of those 2 movies you mentioned, how recent are they and do you think they could be found at a blockbuster?

here is a link to some reading on the different types of menpo "armor of the face" used by the samurai, very interesting stuff,I aslo think they could have made silver samurai so much cooler if they would have included this small yet awesome piece of armor.

I love martial arts movies. When the Last Sword is Drawn and the Seven Samurai are great flicks. I'm also a huge fan of Kung Fu movies. The Magnificient Butcher, Iron Monkey, Legend of the Drunken Master, Mad Monkey Kung Fu, Ip Man and Jet Li's Last Hero of China/Once Upon a Time in China series are among my favourites. My favourite Kung Fu action stars: Donnie Yen, Gordon Liu, Chiu Chi Ling, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and Jackie Chan. Jet Li is ok but does a lot of acrobatty stuff.

well all I can say is when I first watched it I thought it wasnt that good until I actually listened to what they were trying to get across, imo it was gripping because it was a tv series that actually showed a way to become a more mindfull person,it opened doors to an audience that at the time were completely unfamiliar with eastern philosophy,it broke ground and for that alone I give it an A+.

Samurai Jack had surprisingly accurate swordplay and also the episodes featuring Kung Fu had actual forms and patterns which I thought was pretty cool.

IMO, Harold and Kumar broke ground in that it features two Asian leads on a very successful Western comedy franchise. I'm not even just saying that as a joke. It's just nice to see some Asians in something other than Kung Fu and Bollywood films. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Martial Arts flicks but if you want to talk about bridging the cultural gap rather than further alienating cultures like a lot of movies that only concentrate on cultural extremes do, H&K does the job. I do get what you mean though, they were trying to show, "This is what Chinese people do.", but that pretty much just unintentionally typecasted an entire nation.

When The Last Sword Is Drawn trailer, made in 2003

Seven Samurai trailer, made in 1954. One of the greatest movies ever made and continually on top 100 greatest movie lists.

13 Assassins trailer, made in 2011. Kind of an update to Seven Samurai, not as good but still a very good movie.

Fist Of Legend, made in 1994. My favorite Jet Li movie and here's a pretty dope scene from the movie.

well I feel it was not a typecast as much as a "new" way to look at problems and how to handle,it offered an alternative to the hectic western view of things,I feel we need more of its type in society today as well.

Greatest Fight Scenes: Fist of Legend - Jet Li vs. Billy Chow - YouTube

Here's another scene featuring Jet Li vs. Billy Chow from Fist of Legend. Neat fact, Billy Chow actually frequents my home town and goes kareoke at a local Dim Sum restaurant. My father (A Martial Arts instructor) helped train him at Frank Lee's Martial Arts during the 1980s/90s.

That's awesome. We are going to have to have an offline convo on that.
I love that end fight scene, one of my favorites and really got me into watching martial arts flicks.

No, of course Kung Fu didn't typecast Chinese actors, it's lead star was a white guy playing a part Chinese guy so it couldn't have typecasted a Chinese guy in the lead role in that way. I just mean movies and shows like Kung Fu helped cement a certain theme for ALL Asian roles that's kind of hard to shake even now.

Absolutely, dude. I am a Martial Arts movie nut and the fact that my dad was also a fan of the martial arts flicks and also an instructor pretty much helped secure that as one of my lifelong passions.

The 3 Brothers (Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung vs Bruce Lee!)
