I am sincerely, sincerely hoping for a 3 3/4" line the quality of the G.I. Joe 25th anniversary figures from some years back now. I've felt for a long time that those were basically the zenith of 3 3/4" figures as far as all of the beats go, and if we got a line with similar art direction, I'd be ecstatic.

I can't speak for hardcore fans, but as a casual fan who didn't buy any of those previous lines, Hasbro has my full attention for 1:12 scale Ghostbusters.

In my opinion, Mattel's were just bad, and tended to keep important accessories "exclusive" to certain releases, and DST's were too big and the ab crunch looked terrible. Mezco's are out of my price range and I don't like the look of their uniforms in soft goods. I can see the appeal of 3.75" figures, but they are not for me, either.

I already collect a lot of Hasbro's stuff, so I'm confident their 1:12 figures will be exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be interested in figures from every movie and cartoon.

I'm excited as well, and completely agree. Hasbro is hitting home runs on so many properties now. There are a lot more licenses I'd love to see them acquire.

I’m sure Hasbro will do great. I’m just unsure if there is a healthy enough market for the line, that’s all. The Diamond Select Ray, Egon, Peter and Zuul hellhound sold out instantly, but the rest of the figures languished on the pegs at TRU and comic book stores.

If it looks good and has a healthy market, I’m all for it. I just don’t want it draining resources from other lines to make a dud.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I just wanted to offer the example of my position as a collector that was uninterested in previous lines but will definitely buy into Hasbro's. Hopefully there will be plenty of others in a similar situation to help support the line.

I have purchased every Ghostbusters figure from Mattel and Diamond Select. I will definitely be purchasing Hasbro’s offerings.

The Mattel line was was great at the time, but the figures are a bit undersized and the facial sculpts don’t really hold up. But they are admittedly fun toys. The best thing to they produced was that giant Stay Puft SDCC exclusive. DST’s stuff is cool, but they are oversized, and I don’t really like the plastic and paint DST uses on their figures. Based on Hasbro’s latest Star Wars Black and Power Rangers stuff, I think their product will be an improvement over everything else. But Webz brings up a great point, outside of the main four guys, this line doesn’t have a deep roster of characters to pull from. I think that’s why the lines have wained after the first couple waves every time. Hopefully Hasbro gets into more of the ghosts. That being said, no company has beaten NECA’s Slimer, so interested in seeing Hasbro’s take.

I'm looking forward to these and hope they'll be better scaled with Marvel Legends than Mattel's GB.
Hasbro hopefully is going to use their face print tech to make them awesome!
Also, since Hasbro has Kenner, they could remake the vintage figures on the Kenner cardbacks. I'd buy that in a heartbeat!

I have most of the Mattel figures but always felt them lacking in details and likeness.
I also have all of Diamond Select actually only because I wanted to complete the rooftop diorama and the Firehouse facade; the DST figures themselves don't have good likeness, are too tall, and are very fragile.
I do hope DST is going to re-release the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man 24" Vinyl bank, I have the NECA but the DST is the best imho. I missed out it and the price skyrocketed :/

@Super Joe - We get it, but this is a Ghostbusters thread. Why are you constantly forcing your Top Gun thread into every conversation?

If Mattel doesn’t come through for this guy, I’m going to feel bad.

All though , the planes got me thinking. You would think with all the military in nyc, they would have used fighter jets to bring down stay puft.

In this industry cross promotion is just so common. Somewhat like that really crazy Moss Man Chia Pet or the Goldbergs promoting new Ghostbusters x Transformers by Hasbro. It was Hasbro who unveiled the Skystriker (with the Top Gun Anthem playing) at Joe Con 2011. Word has it Hasbro was thinking cross promotion. In reciprocity one will easily find mention of G.I.Joe, MOTU, the NCAA, NFL 100th Anniversary, and even Barbie yes Barbie, mentioned in the Top Gun thread.

Someone help me out. What's with "Zuccini", "Pepper", and "Spinach"? I do not know what these listings indicate.

Placeholders. They don't want to reveal the product, just the categories. The important thing to take from this is at least two lines. The veggies are just placeholder names, most likely for Vankman, Stantz, and Zedmore, since Spangler is no longer with us.

I had an easier time guessing what the placeholder names were for the Overwatch listings. There's not as much to go on here.

Just had an idea... what if the plasma figures are various ghostbusters, and the frights are ghost toys? Similar to voyager class transformers and the weaponizer mini bots sold separately.

So is this the end of the line for DST Ghostbusters or do they have a separate deal going on? Afterall DST does 7 inch and Hasbro will be doing 6 inch.

It's not necessarily the end for DST doing Ghostbusters, unless they did lose the license and I missed that news. DST still gets to make Marvel Select figures concurrently with Hasbro doing Marvel Legends so something similar could be allowed with this license.

I think it is safe to say that the Plasma figures are akin to Legends and Black Series. I also think it is safe to say that Zucchini, Spinach, Pepper, and Sesame are the original Ghostbusters as those names appear in both the basic line and collectors line price points.

The only question is will the first series of figures in the Plasma line for 2020 based? Will Hasbro give us old man fat balding Ray? Gray wrinkled flabby Venkman? Dead Spengler? And looked the same wince the 90's Winston?

My guess is the Plasma series will be the original movie styled OGBs, Grizzly and Clementine will be characters from the new movie, and as a wld card, the fright features will be based on the RGB Kenner line.

The first post said Hasbro acquired the 'Master' toy license, so I think that would put them in charge of everything. I suppose they could let DST do some but I don't think that'll be the case.

I got the 4 DST Real Ghostbusters and am happy with that set. Even if Hasbro re-did them, it'd take a lot for me to go and replace them.
